Very Reasonably priced for the area. Can't speak for anything else, but the Spaghetti was quite disappointing for a restaurant labeled as an Italian Restaurant. Working in the area and stopped here for a late lunch. Ordered unsweetened ice tea and shrimp salad. I was welcomed when I entered and sat in the booth of my choice. Comfortable surroundings and nice clean bathrooms. When the salad came to my table the shrimp were a fairly good size and just grilled to perfection. Enjoyed it all. read more

Review for my first time here: I came by yesterday ( April 30, 2021) but didn't have time to review the place or even take photos. In terms of wait time to be seated, it was instant. To add on, it was roughly lunch time so it was great to get a seat right away. The waitress was also very quick to bring my buddies and I drinks and kept checking on us for refills. The food wait time was great and the food came out nice and hot to the table. The food itself is not the tastiest food that I've had however it is not bad. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was good. The pasta was ok though. It is walking distance from the hotel that I'm staying in so I have no complaints about that. Overall, great place and great people working here. Day 2: May 1st, 2021 Waitresses were just as quick as yesterday. Today I ordered the Bourbon Burger which was really good. Reminded me of the burgers you eat at home and since I'm literally across the country from my home, it was even more good. The cheese fries were very good too. A tad bit too greasy but it's French fries with bacon so I can't really complain. Overall, it was a good day eating here. The COVID protocol is in full action here. Employees wear mask, clean after every pattern has left a table, groups cannot sit next to each other and mask must be worn off the table. I must emphasize the work that the ladies are doing because they check in on you so much so if you ever need anything just ask them. Tonight I ordered a 1/2 a rack of ribs close to closing time. When they arrive, they were Luke warm. After I sad something About the ribs being luke warm I was told they were Pre cooked The next what they could do I said it was late kitchen closing. I didn't want anything else. They said they would take it off. The bill after I got my bill. I was charged for a salad. Don't mind paying for something. Had I known? I was charged for a salad I would have ordered another meal. Okay, not many choices in Gretna, had to drop off a trailer at the Uhaul place so thought we would try Mama Rosa. It is across the street from the Hampton Inn, so probably gets most of their business that way. Food was mediocre at best. The Mama Rosa salad was awful, a bench of junk on iceberg lettuce, I have never had canned mushrooms on a salad , yuck. The homemade lasagna was okay, and the chicken piccata would have been good, but the canned mushrooms ruined it. Really, how hard would it be to use fresh ingredients? Yum! Absolutely great food and even better service. Couldn't decide between steak or Italian so I took the waitress's suggestion and went for the steak and mixed veggies. Steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Veggies were the perfect accompaniment. Had the calamari as an appy and strawberry cheesecake as dessert. This spot did accommodate me by delivering but they did not deliver on quality food. I ordered a meat lovers pizza and chicken alfredo. The pizza was made with way to much cheese almost to where it wasn't edible and the chicken alfredo had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. It almost looked like a diet mean you would get at the grocery store. No to mention for that quality of food they are very over priced. I wouldnt recommend eating here if you can avoid it. We are regular Mama Rosa customers. I am still disappointed that the manager does NOT make any staff wear masks. There is a window so you can see the cooks. None wearing masks. Still. We ate dinner there last night on 11/7/2020. I am surprised nobody has left this review yet. Masks - not required here. No Parmesan on my child's spaghetti and he loves it. I asked for Parmesan 3 times, but they never gave me any. A little pricey. Gretna has 1 of 2 restaurants worth dining in for dinner. Mama Rosa's and Mexican. My family has enjoyed our annual family dinner here for the past two years as it is an easy central location for all of us. Mama Rosa is always very accommodating of our large group and allow us to bring our own desserts! This year we took over the back of the restaurant, not a private room but definitely a somewhat private space which was perfect for us! The service was good, considering the size of the group. We all ordered a variety of things and the reviews were generally good about the taste of things. My boyfriend and I split a pizza and while it won't win any awards, it held its own against some of the other fancier pizzas we have had elsewhere. All the staff take their smoke breaks outside the bar door, which is 1-6ft from any given bar stool. 3. You have to wait for the bartender to get done smoking to wait on you. 4. "Italian restaurant/full-bar"??? There's no wine (what they have does not qualify). So I braved a vodka & tonic with lime.. Tonic flat, lime wedge rotten! 5. Most of the hard liquor bottles were empty but still "stocked" on the illuminated shelf. 6. Ordered a steak salad- it consisted on 3-grape tomatoes, 2-slices of cucumber, 1/8 head of iceberg lettuce, some shredded carrots.. And.. About 1/4cup of Shredded "steak-um". Not thick but thin. No flavor or additions besides cream potatoes and clams. Possibly butter but didn't see any separation. Pasta had the same issue. Had veggies and the sauce was good but not seasoned at all. Tried looking for a flake or two of oregano or chunk of garlic but none to see. Now this could be just me since I enjoy flavor and other things going on in my food besides the basics. When we first walked in a nice lady (employee) opened the door because my grandma was handicap. (I don't know about you, but I never saw an employee open the door for a handicap.) It deserves a 5 star rating, but know 1 gets that. My wife and I stayed across the street at the Hampton Inn and walked over to enjoy dinner 1 night. We both are in Food Service and are probably looking for the best in service as well as food as we expect our employees to do where we are employed. Ordering a salad, appetizer and pizza. First, the service was great, Second, the food came out fast,fresh and hot with time for enjoying our salad and appetizer first. Great timing and service. I can't exactly remember what the dish I got was called, but it was a pasta dish with chicken, creamy spicy sauce, crab, and I added mussels. I was so amazed at how good the food was. Since I am new to the area and used to living where there are amazing restaurants everywhere I have found that almost everywhere I've tried eating has not at all lived up to what I'm used too. So I'm not saying this is the best food I have ever had, I've been to Italy no pasta will ever compare to this BUT I am saying the food I had here is by far the best I have found anywhere in the area. Not gonna lie, this one is gonna hurt my feelings a little. Went here on a whim while I was checking out Leesville Lake/Dam areas for recreational fishing spots. Saw it from the highway a couple times and was curious, but never really drove that far south much. Upon entering, I was impressed by the size and layout. Appeared to be quite clean, 3-4 servers acknowledged me and inquired as to whether or not I had been helped. Everyone was very friendly. I ordered my food and sat at a table across from the bar that looked into the kitchen. While waiting, I observed a gentleman that was wrapping food in plastic wrap for later use. He was not wearing gloves. Usually not turned off by that, but as I continued to watch, he would touch his forehead, wipe under his nose, and at one point, grabbed a rag from his pocket to wipe his nose and stuffed it back in his pocket. I was kinda mortified, but since he wasn't making my food, I let it go. In hindsight, I shoulda got the hell outta there because when I got home, I realized that just because he wasn't making my food, didn't mean he didn't prep the ingredients. He was a taller gentleman, older and had an unkempt, unshaven graying beard. Really unfortunate because the pizza was SO good. Probably the best I've had in the area. Omg the food was horrible! my grandmas had to much cheese on hers. you couldn't even taste the actual meal all you tasted was cheese. My mom spaghetti had to much cheese on it as well. you would almost choke from how thick it was. My chicken Alfredo wasn't good the sauce tasted like nothing.
