The owner and chef Sherif opened this restaurant on April 4th, 2019. When I walked into the Restaurant, I found the place to be very similar to the Italian restaurants I dined in with my parents when I visited Rome as a young man. The decor was very eclectic and with a very warm and cozy ambiance. It had two large screen TVs. One in the dining area and the other at the bar sitting area. There was no one around for a few minutes. But all of a sudden, the restaurant's owner/chef Sherif, came walking out of the kitchen and gave me a friendly greeting and a warm welcome. It was very genuine and he made it a point to know, memorize, and always address me by my name. I ordered a Dr Pepper to drink and after having some time to look over the menu I ordered a Works Supreme Pizza and asked if he could make it a 12" small size. This pizza contained Pepperoni, Sausage, Beef, Mushrooms, Onions, Green Peppers, and Roasted Red Peppers. The owner was truly wonderful - very polite, welcoming, and attentive. I very much appreciated the great customer service and the positive atmosphere he created. While the service was excellent, the food did not quite meet my expectations. I believe there is room for improvement in the flavor and overall preparation. The thin crust pizza was over cooked, making the outer crust hard and burning some of the meat ingredients, thus retracting from their flavor. However, I did enjoy the magnificent flavor of the roasted red peppers in the pizza. And the Tiramisu that I had for dessert, made in-house, with fresh strawberries on top was amazingly delicious. I hope this feedback is helpful, as the owner's hospitality was outstanding and I would love to see the food quality match his level of service. I'm sharing this respectfully, as the owner's hospitality was excellent and deserves to be recognized. Also, the owner's friendliness and attentiveness enhanced my dining experience significantly.

THE FAT AND SASSY Their menu claims that this is the "best garlic cheese bread ever". And indeed it was because I wolfed down seven pieces of that bread within 15 minutes. I love that this was practically a pizza -- round pizza dough topped generously with cheddar and whole cloves of roasted garlic. The cheesy grease and pungent aromatic flavors exploded in my mouth. After seven pieces, I knew I had to stop because there was other food to come. CAESAR SALAD This was a typical Caesar salad with above average Caesar dressing, but there was just way too much of it mixed in. Besides that, pretty solid! I would ask for the dressing on the side in the future. THE HEAVY HAND This is Dr Ho's version of the Meat Lovers pizza, which was topped generously with sopressata, capicola, Italian sausage, and other ingredients like shaved onions, mushroom, and variety of cheeses. We got this one because we wanted more protein, but unfortunately, with the amount of cured meat that was slathered on, it was overbearingly salty. After my first slice of pizza, I started taking meat off my slice because it was too much. Overall, 3.5/5, but bumping to a 4/5 because we were pretty sure we would have had a better experience if we chose a different pizza. Still, I'm happy we got to try a restaurant in the Charlottesville area that is popular and well-loved by locals. Also, fantastic pricing with honestly the best cheesy garlic bread I've ever had. My g/f recommended Vinny's as being very good. Originally, we were going to go here for an early dinner on Thursday, July 4, but when we were driving from Franklin County, I exclaimed Prime Rib Thursday at Copper Kettle! So, I had her U-turn, and we tried that instead. Please see my 5-star of them from August 2024. We ended up going on Saturday, July 6. We arrived in this cramped front area, and someone sat us at a booth at a reasonable time. We sat in the booth over 10 minutes without anyone coming to even get us water or check on here. We were hungry, and I was already annoyed for this long wait and was looking on Yelp. I asked my g/f about trying Bella Vita, which she agreed and left about 15 minutes after being seated. It was a big disappointment. However, after my 5-star Yelp review of Bella Vita (which I got to reviewing in April 2025), my g/f said Bella Vita is a better Italian than Vinny's, so maybe for the best. Since I didn't actually eat at Vinny's in the end, wasn't actively denied water, or had some other terrible experience, it would be unfair to give than 1-star in this case.
