Lovedddd this place. Originally was gonna go to some "trendy" place around the corner but their service was horrible and the wait was 50 minutes!! Mama Puebla was a 4 minute walk around the corner and this place really turned our afternoon around. Service was great, our waiter was very attentive even thought he was the only one on the floor. Food came out at a reasonable time and was so fresh. Drinks were great.The place was clean and the aesthetic was beautiful. Seemed very authentic to me. Would 100% visit again.

We had Chips and Salsa (5/5) Flautitas (4/5) Molcajete Mama Puebla (marinated churrasco, shrimp, chicken breast, Mexican sausage, grilled green onions, jalapeños, and avocado) 4.5/5) Hibiscus Margarita 5/5 Spicy Passionfruit Margarita 5/5 Pechuga de Pollo de Mexicana (chicken breast sautéed with onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes) (4/5) it's spicy Coconut Mojito (4/5) Tamarind Margarita (3.75/5) Mezcal shots (5/5) Had an amazing time at @mamapueblanyc! Fresh chips and salsa were so good we had to order it twice! The Buffalo wings had the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. Loved the juicy, thinly sliced chicken entree and the huge Molcajete--perfect for sharing. The rice and beans were bursting with flavor, we almost went for seconds! They even have hookah after 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays and karaoke! Such a cozy spot with reasonable prices and big portions. Definitely coming back!

Mama Pueblas really does know how to make tasty food. We have been ordering them for as long as they have been open. I usually stick to my favorites and here's my last take out order: Carnitas Tacos Chorizo Tacos Steak Quesadilla Tostones BIRRIA TORTA The birria torta was EVERYTHING and I suggest that everyone who enjoys birria tacos gives this a try. It comes with the deep rich consommé for dipping. It's basically like a Mexican style French dip and it did not disappoint! I really do enjoy most of their tacos. My rotational order is carnitas, chorizo, al pastor, fish and birria. My favorite quesadillas are the steak and shrimp ones! I will always recommend them. The best part is that the service is excellent. Family owned and small staff makes it feel homey and inviting!

We've ordered Mama Puebla a couple of times prior to Covid. The food was pretty good then and ordering recently deemed the food pretty good now. Our Order: Fish Tacos Flautas Beef Nachos Chicken Fajitas with all the fixins and accompanied with multiple Sauces: Green being the best. Surprisingly, the food arrived much faster than quoted. Once all the meals were unpacked, the 'My Phone Eats First' rule was way out the window, hence not many pics. Thanks hungry food attackers! Ordering Mexican is never a forethought but based off of this recent order it will be now.

Customers beware! I don't even know why I even bother coming here but against my better judgement I went there anyway. Let me start off by saying that the servers here always have an attitude and act like they are doing you a favor by serving you to begin with. I came here once and because the aforementioned statement I stopped coming. Ok so I was craving chuletas Fritas (fried pork chops) which comes with rice, black beans and tortillas. Now on their paper/plastic menu the price for this dish is 16 dollars. But when the cashier gives me my total, it's 20 dollars! I'm thinking to myself "wait a minute, that's a 4 dollar difference". So I asked the lady, isn't 16 dollars? And she responds that the prices went up and it was 20 dollars with taxes. I'm no math wiz but there's no way you can charge 4 dollars taxes on a 16 dollars order. As you can see in the photos provided, $1.51 is the taxes. So either the prices went up and it is 20 dollars with taxes or she thought she found herself a sucker to overcharge. So I said, oh don't worry Ms just cancel my order and I walked out of there. Now, I've never had a problem paying for anything no matter how cheap or expensive it is but I honestly felt like there was something not right. So I look online, specially in Grubhub which we all know prices are usually a couple of dollars more. So low and behold, 16 dollars+ 1 dollar delivery + 2.78 (15% tip-which I usually give 5+ cuz the guys work hard and I want my food fairly quick lol). Which means it's 21.29 total! That's not cool! Why would you try to rip your customers like that!? I would recommend if you are in a mood for Mexican, go to Taqueria Lupita. Small little mom and pop shop restaurant. They might not have your dinner size dishes that come with rice and beans but EVERYTHING else that Mama Pueblas has, they have. And the people there are much nicer and welcoming. And if you still want your "Spanish food" fix, for the same scamming prices of Mama Pueblas, go to made in Puerto Rico, delicious puertorrican food and they give you a lot of it. Don't recommend this place at all. Always go with your gut instinct.

Ordered red sauce chicken enchiladas and this is what I got. The sauce was oily and barely tasted like anything. The tortillas broke up making it a mess. The rice and black beans was tolerable. Never again.

The squash blossom quesadilla is a must try if you stop in this delicious little spot! The blossoms were so tender and flavorful with a nice bite to them.. Mmm! I had that with a side of mole sauce and it was easily the best Mexican I've had in years. The service was fabulous! The gentleman at the front desk offered chips amd salsa as we waitws for our to-go orders. The salsas were fresh and authentic and the prices were reasonable. They have a great cold drink and dessert selection as well.! Will definitely return with friends if in the area again! read more

I live in the area and this place left their menu in my mailbox one day and I saved it for some reason. Today I decided to order and I'm so happy I did!! The service a excellent and the delivery was so fast! The best part was the good of course! Chilles rellenos and steak enchiladas with verde sauce were excellent! Who would have thought this little place produced such high quality Mexican! No more Chinese and Pizza for us, this place is a keeper for sure!!!! read more

I love this place!!!! Best authentic Mexican restaurant that I've been to so far! I always buy 4 steak tacos and an order of chips and salsa. I use some of that salsa over the tacos too . I wish I would had taken a picture of my food yesterday. I'm ordering again today! I only wish they would deliver to Co-op city, if they did I would put all of my co-workers on. It's even good as a sit in restaurant, it's small and cute! I love the painting they have on the wall too. read more

Gave them another chance. Always use seamless to order. 1hour 10 mins after placing my order, I've decided to give them a call and cancel it since it has taken so long. After the restaurants assure me that the food just left and will arrive soon, I'm stead fast and ask to cancel it. He hangs up on me. I call seamless and they took care of my refund and even called the restaurant. Low and behold, another 20 mins later the delivery guy calls informing me that my food is outside. I instruct the delivery guy to return to the restaurant with the food because I had canceled it. I understand that my business probably won't be missed by this restaurant. Hopefully my reviews will sway away potential customers though. read more

One star because I can't give less! The girl taking care of us was unattentive and my husband and I were the only ones there!!! My husband asked for water she filled his cup and not mine he had to get her attention again to fill my cup. When we sat down we got chips with salsa, when we ordered, we ordered a side of guacamole, by the time that came our chips were done but she didn't offer to refill the basket we had to ask! I ordered the seafood spicy soup and found a plastic wrapper in it!!! I hate to give small businesses bad reviews because I love small family owned places but this place doesn't even deserve the one star! Food and service was horrible!!! read more

The food is good however, their customer service sucks. I ordered to go and it took forever. When I questioned what was up, the guy gave me an attitude and said the food is made fresh so I can't expect it to be fast. That alone turned me off so I HAD TO REMIND HIM that down the street, where they also make the food fresh and it's just as good, I am in and out in 10 mins. And they don't give me attitude. Love Mama Pueblas. We order from there pretty regularly (avg once a week). The steak tacos and nachos are a household favorite. During the busy times...deliver can suck but most of the time, it's quick and food is hot upon arrival. read more

Every time I have ordered from here they don't listen to what I write.... this is the third time I have said "no onions, no tomatoes, no peppers" every time they have put onions and tomatoes on everything, like they don't even read it. They also refuse to give you a refund for it all! read more

This place was by far the worst!! I ordered by phone waited for my food for about an hour. When the food arrives the beef was burned, tacos taste horrible. My husband didn't finish his steak it was gross. Waste of money for sure. Never again read more

If u come to this spit u got to try the chicken fajitas OMG it's to die for. It's a authentic Mexican spot with fresh veggies and meats. They have the best guacamole o ever had. The condiments came with peppers and three different type of hot sauce which is great I love variety. The desert was great for tres leche go try this place out bet u would give 5 star like I did. read more

We come here twice a month sometimes more. If you want a burrito or hard or soft taco it is very good. All of the items on the menu are worth trying. If you want good quality food that will make you feel like your in Mexico this is a place for you. read more

ABsolutely terrible service. I made an order to be delivered to my home. It came almost 20 minutes late. When it came there was an extra item in the order that I did not ask for nor did I order it. They said I had to take the order as is. I sent the order back. Maybe Kiki should start hiring people with some brains. It doesn't take much to do a good job and have some common sense in dealing with customers. I never have a problem at Castle Hill same owner. Also the delivery moron left my back gate open. I have two dogs, if they had gotten out he would have had a serious problem! read more

Friendly staff. I love getting guacamole and chips from here. They make it fresh and give a nice size serving. I got quesadillas from Mama Puebla not too long ago. Most places give you dips (I.e. Sour cream, salsa) and that's it. Here, you also get to choose a side (plantains or salad) AND you get a small side of guacamole. Yum! Can you tell I have an obsession with guacamole? Great value. Looking forward to trying their soups soon. read more

I'm only giving one star because it won't let me write a review with no stars. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We just moved back in the area and wanted to try something new. Wrong choice! The owner/worker whoever he was is RUDE! We placed an order for delivery and after 1.5 hours I decided to leave the house to find out what was going on because they WEREN'T answering the phone. I get there to ask about our order and the pregnant girl looks at me like I have 2 freaking heads then tells me to wait for the guy. As I wait for him my boyfriend calls me to tell me the food arrived but that my food was cold. As I requested a new order the guy is telling me I have to bring back the food that is supposedly cold because according to them they send out the food right away. We placed our order at 7:46 pm the food arrived at our house at 9:29 pm. So you can imagine how hot (NOT) my food was. This guy gave me such a hard time that I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! read more

I will recommend people not to go to this place they do not accept kids with specials needs my son n his class went there on a trip today and before the kids could even sit down they threw the class out cause my son was hyper cause he was happy to be on a trip and the man that was behind the register that calls himself the Manager threw them out the min they came in he said hes not dealing with these type of kids what a piece of shit he is and he does not know how to talk to customers ive managed 3 restaurants n would never talk to a customer the way he spoke to me the school and myself thats been ordering there will no longer order there no more cause of the incident that happened today so sad they treat kids with needs that way then lie about it smh. ......I dont know how to reply but that. Never happen she did not mistreat my child shes been with my child over 3 years n goes out her way n beyond for him so save ur lies plz she grab his arm so he didnt run away or run in the street to get hurt so no she did not do nothing wrong u just didnt want those kids there and u even say that u had those type of kids before n it was to much there was 4 adults there with the lil class n u just couldnt handle it your. Then we realized the hostess wouldn't speak to us again for about 15mins. Turns out they "don't speak English" and bc we looked **foreign** (I'm being nice) they didn't know how/want to proceed. Wasn't until my Cuban friend started speaking Spanish that we were able to get service and was able to order. With all that said, the food was mid at best (fresh but lacking flavor) but the space was cute and cozy. Seems to be a hit amongst their friends and families so I will gladly leave their safe space to just them.

WOW!! Very impressed. Wish I tried sooner. I recommend ordering online as my previous attempt calling in was a language barrier. However I take that as a good sign which means this is authentic Mexican cuisine! My food came super quick and i got updates to my phone as the time of delivery was sooner than estimated. I ordered the flat hard shell tostada with beef was loaded with meat and super fresh it only cost $2.50 I had two and I am full. Also the coconut flan was cold and delish!! I highly recommend this place. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes. will be adding photos read more

Good size portions for the price, not the best plating like there photos, very saucy(great if you like sause) can't see the meat or freshness of vegetables . Pleasant staff and limited seating(tiny restaurant). Recommend this place over other mexican restaurants in Throggsneck, appears cleaner and more professional. Give it a taste. read more

This place is what Throgs Neck needed. Their food is what you call amazing. Their fresh guacamole is delicious, their flan is great and their Molcajete Mama Puebla is mouth dropping. The guy in the front doesn't speak english too well but that's a good sign means the food is real Mexican food. read more
