    Fruit pancakes

It was a cold morning in Amsterdam and we wanted to try Dutch pancakes, Mama Pancakes were conveniently located right on the corner, we were immediately seated and asked what drinks we would like, and after we ordered the food came quite quickly, and it was not bad, I guess I was expecting a lot more, I think I was thinking Crepes, the service was under par maybe she was having a bad day.

Cutest breakfast place in Amsterdam! There are so many styles of pancakes to choose from, waffles, eggs, many, many breakfast items. Sweet or savory..Heineken on tap. There are tons of coffee drinks and tea styles. The service was truly fast and very friendly. Love the decor. Can't wait to try another pancake!

Mixed emotions about this place! I'm not exactly sure why this place is well-known and popular, but nevertheless, it was still good. My bf and I ordered the chicken shawarma pancake and mini Dutch pancakes. My cousin and her bf ordered the vegetarian pancake. Our chicken shawarma was wasn't cooked in the most skillful manner, and the vegetables were off-putting for a pancake. Regardless, it was OK. However, I do have to admit that the mini Dutch pancakes were worthy of my tastebuds. It was tasty and pleasurable to eat. The service and ambiance isn't anything worth nothing. Solid place, but I didn't exactly get the hype.

When we came here, they were more than ten minutes late for a 9AM opening, leaving several parties waiting outside, and then the food was understandably a little slow to get ready as they worked their way through the queue. The food was pretty tasty, I got poffertjes (mini pancakes) with apple cinnamon topping and it hit the spot, though the apple topping was a hair on the burnt side of perfectly caramelized. Everyone in my party seemed satisfied with their food, though not blown away. Dining area had kind of a diner-style feel. If you're in the mood for pancakes or waffles, it's a good spot.

We came in as a party of 4 adults seeking sustenance. We were specifically looking for crepes but that was 5 more minutes of walking & 1 of us couldn't go any further without eating. We decided dutch pancakes would be a fair compromise. Mine certainly hit the spot. The goat cheese was crispy outside - which, along with the nuts, provided the needed texture contrast. The savory saltiness balanced well with the honey drizzled over. Frankly, I think I would have been happy with just the goat cheese on it, as I do love that tanginess. Overall, pricing was decent and the food was good. Plus, it's open Sunday morning and has free wifi. We have feel like it's a good way to start the day today.

Way better than original pancake which is a spot down the street. Definitely come here!!!! The man who cooks during the day and makes the Dutch mini pancakes omg they were amazing. Sit and stay for a while or create an order for take away (which is what they call take out). It was so good! I highly recommend this spot if your craving sweets.

This was my first stop sampling the famous dutch pancakes. I ordered the poffertjes (mini pancakes) and they were delicious with a cup of tea. They also had a nice selection of pastries and other baked goods. The staff were cool and friendly and I didnt have to wait long for my food considering there was a nice crowd inside. I enjoyed my pancakes with just the powdered sugar and also with the syrups. I tried the plain syrup which tastes like molasses and I also tried their caramel syrup. (Watch out yall diabetics :-)) I was happy to sample these to get an idea if I wanted the larger pancakes. However, I didnt realize that mini pancakes are quite different from the larger ones that are more like crepes which I enjoyed more. I saw these restaurants throughout my travels in Amsterdam and would recommmend someone to check it out.

Back: waffles with strawberry and Nutella Front: apple, cheese, honey and Walnut pancake with added bacon. Delicious!

I've tried roughly the same pancake now at three different pancakeries in the city so I could compare :-) I ordered a bacon, goat cheese and apple pancake (in Mama Pancake it came with walnuts and honey drizzled on top). I ordered from Pancake Bakery, Mama Pancake, and At Letting. The one I liked the least was at pancake bakery, review left there. I liked Mama Pancake the best. I have to be honest though, I did not want to like Mama Pancake because it looks so commercial and caters to tourists. I was supposed to try Pancakes Upstairs but didn't have a reservation. Anyway despite the perceived commercialism, our service was incredibly prompt and efficient. The server was polite and friendly to my daughter, and this was my first restaurant experience where the server caught a kitchen mistake and corrected it before I could even open my mouth! The kitchen forgot the cheese and when another server put my plate down without cheese, the one helping us immediately said something, took my plate away for the correct order in what felt like me seconds. The presentation of my pancake was much better here too. They carmelized the apples and cheese and laid then on top so they looked so delicious and beautiful. The flavors were great. I could have used a few more apple slices but that is my only complaint. The batter for the pancakes is great too. Slightly sweet, not too gummy or eggy, just the right chewiness, and a beautiful golden brown. I have to recommend you stop in here, don't let the touristic face scare you away if you just want good pancakes.

I haven't even tried what I ordered but I am giving them 3 stars for what may be the stupidest, tight-wad policy - they don't serve tap water. You can drop €50 on pancakes and you won't give me tap water?! I hope the owners appreciate that not every € they get will be given with happiness. In fact, I dropped it to 2 stars now just thinking about it more. Seriously dumb. Feels very much like a tourist trap with the location and prices.

Mama Pancake was absolutely amazing! We stopped in on April 21st, around 1 am because the scent of the shop was amazing! The server was absolutely great, she spoke English and also gave us a few recommendations of what to do while we were in Amsterdam. We ordered a coffee, soda, and 10 mini Dutch pancakes with Nutella, and a side of bacon. It was phenomenal!!! I highly recommend visiting Mama Pancake while you're in Amsterdam!

Partook in churros, a waffle, and ice cream - Sweets were good (closer to a 3-star average than 4), but the service was friendly and the overall atmosphere was clean and inviting, so bumping overall rating to 4.

We were there the day after Kings day and it was a lovely morning. The weather was cool, but not cold and we were able to enjoy the nice breeze and canal boats passing by. I was also able to connect to the WiFi from the Casino across the river. It was weak, but still worked. We were seated outside and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone came by to take our order for food and drinks. We ordered the banana crepe to share and I got a coffee while my wife ordered the pear juice. The pair juice comes from a bottle. The coffee was served in a small cup and was ok. I am used to drinking it with cream and sweetener. But Europeans don't have these items, so I just drank it with sugar. I think we waited almost 30 minutes before our food came out. Now, we only ordered crepes with bananas inside. Usually at the mall, it takes a few minutes to make crepes. I don't know how it took almost 30 minutes for them to make 1 item. Mind you, the place was not full when we came, so I don't understand how long we had to wait for our server to order our food and why it took so long for them to make our food. Once it finally came out, I thought the crepe was good, but not out of your mind fantastic. It's just basic tbh. Will I ever come back, probably not due to the wait time and the food wasn't all that great.

I tried some ham and cheese baguette and I think there's cheese was much thicker than the ham but I would definitely like more ham. In general this place has the carousel as the main attraction - it sort of reminds me of a cheaper version of Disney. Looks kind of touristy and old school. There's lots of seating and I think the host wasn't really there to seat us but there was a wait to be seated sign. We took a booth by the window. The service was extremely slow and the workers are definitely understaffed here and I don't understand why because there's outside and inside seating and there were only two workers for over 30/40 tables. The Dutch pancakes were the best thing on the menu but I think they just taste like hot cakes with sugar on top- so I didn't find anything super special to ever come back here again.

You see we had the good fortune of befriending Senna who volunteered to serve (in his words) as our "tour guide & waiter." When Senna asked if Dana preferred sweet or savory, she replied (in brilliant fashion), "How about both?" This prompted his face to light up as he told us he had the perfect recommendations. Following his lead we ordered the "Bacon, Apple, and Butter" Pannenkoeken and the "Mixed Fruit and Whipped Cream" Poffertjes. What's amazing to me is that about half way through our meal I noticed that the bottle of syrup on the table hadn't been touched (or even considered). I mean, how could syrup possibly enhance such a wonderful compliment of flavors? No, its inclusion simply wouldn't be tolerated! If you want to blaze your own trail at "De Carrousel" they offer more than 50 options to choose from and I'd recommend sharing a combination of pannenkoeken and poffertjes amongst your party. Be sure to make time to wander around the restaurant a bit. Not only are the center carrousel horses a unique touch, but the kitchen's close proximity to the dining area can make you feel as if you have a role in the preparation of the pannenkoeken and poffertjes! True to his word, Senna provided us with a handwritten, two-sided, list of recommendations that he divided into the categories of "Culture", "Restaurants", and "Date Night." And that's...Henry's Take. #pannenkoeken #poffertjes #dutchhospitality
