Really good pizza. Even my non-pizza folks liked this one. We had it for our anniversary dinner along with some charcuterie and wine. I ordered the night before, they took payment over the phone and they had it ready for pick up next day, no problems or delays. Pizza flavor and texture didn't disappoint, many friends still ask me where the pizza from my anniversary night was from. Mama Mia Pizzeria is definitely a go to for good pizza and good service! The Carnivore pizza was delicious and had just the right amount of all toppings. The pizza has a great toasty flavor to it that makes me want more and more edges. The pizza is a thin crust type pizza, but will feed two people at the smallest size. The window area that we were seated by was perfect for some sun while not being 100% exposed to the stx summer heat. The interior decor is so damn cool. This place first caught my eye leaving Home Depot off Hwy 83 and I was curious about it. I stopped in for dinner during a weeknight and this place was packed. The service is great and wait staff are friendly. I have had the stromboli and veggie lasagna, both were amazing. Its a really nice place inside too and it is much bigger than it looks. They have a big outdoor patio which was closed at the time due to rain and cold. Definitely stop here and support local! read more

Pizza is as good as I ever had, service was excellent the only problem I had and it's my fault is they add the tip into the bill and with out my glasses I wasn't sure what they charged, it was a 30 dollar pizza including 2 ice teas so they charged me 6 dollars I'm assuming, I would have just liked to give my money to the waitress, like I said my fault. read more

Ordered a pizza to go over the phone. First time customers are asked to pay over the phone when placing an order, which is a very reasonable ask to me. I only stepped in the restaurant to pick up the pizza but it seemed like a very cute spot. I got the Italian sausage and peppers on the hand tossed crust. It was so good! There isn't a huge selection of pizza places in McAllen so I was excited to try Mama Mia's Pizzeria. There was no wait to be seated. ATMOSPHERE: This place has cute, homely vibes. The inside is a nice brick interior that makes you feel like you are in a cozy cafe. It was clean and well-maintained. FOOD: We ordered a hand-tossed and a deep dish pizza. Overall the pizza quality was okay. I think they put a generous amount of toppings which tasted fine, but didn't jump out at me as fresh and flavorful. The crust tasted a little stale to me on the hand-tossed. I'm also not a big fan of square-cutting pizzas so if you feel the same, I would recommend asking them to cut it like a traditional pie. The deep dish was hearty and had a good balance of sauce, toppings, and cheese, and I liked it more than the hand-tossed. SERVICE: Good. It was pretty empty when I visited (early dinner) so I got a lot of attention from the wait staff which was nice. PRICE/VALUE: Pretty standard prices for a pizza place. I actually thought the price of the deep dish (~$7.75 + $1.25/topping) for a small) is really reasonable for the heartiness and the taste. Overall an okay pizza option if you are in the area. A spot to take cute pictures for sure. From the outside to the inside you can def get some great shots at this venue. As for the food. The Spinach and Artichoke was a waste of money. You can see from the picture it was drowned in oil and literally all the flavor was gone. However, they did make up on the quality of the entrees. But the service wasn't the best for accommodations. We got the portobello mushroom salad. We requested the salad have the dressing mixed instead of on the side. We were told they were not able to accommodate the request. (Not a big deal but felt it should be mentioned for those that are a bit more stent on their food preparedness) The create your own pizza deep dish was great. The additional toppings were about $1.24-1.50 for each but the quality was great. The vegetarian lasagna came in a huge portion and didn't not disappoint. The chicken picante pasta was spicy not too spicy but it was delicious and it was my favorite by far. Our server did forget to bring out one entree and wasn't as attentive to the table as I would have liked but it wasn't horrible either. I would def give this spot another try! read more

I arranged dinner for our swim team, visiting from Colorado, and Mama Mia did an amazing job! Working with them to plan the menu was a breeze, and they were ready when we arrived. The swimmers inhaled the delicious pizzas (appetizers for these guys!) - they loved the pizza, with excellent fresh crust, and made room for pasta with red sauce, meatballs, and salad. All the food was fresh and well-prepared and the staff members were fantastic. Our gluten free guy loved his pizza and pasta! Locals had recommend Mama Mia to us and we were not disappointed! I would definitely go back for a group dinner, family dinner, dinner with friends, a date, etc. as we all loved the food and atmosphere! read more

OMG, where to begin! This place was amazing! The service was fantastic. The food fresh and delicious! The place was warm and inviting and had cute signs with hilarious sayings (but often true) hanging all over the place. Our server was so helpful and suggested great appetizers and she was very attentive too. Our glasses never went empty! George, the young man seating people in the back area, was so polite and friendly. George informed me that it was busy and suggested that I try that area; I asked him, "How do get to that area?" It was scrumptious! I will be returning to this extremely busy restaurant. 6/23 Forgot to tell the waitress that I wanted a thin and crispy pizza! This place was pretty good. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick, and I only give a four star review for a couple of reasons. First it was difficult to find the entrance. Staff came out and greeted us and showed us into the restaurant. Second, the ambience of this restaurant is not great... I originally called, was immediately put on hold for over five minutes, so I hung up and drove down. It was Christmas break for many and they were busy. I ordered my pizza and was asked to wait outside, they were going to call when the pizza was ready (nice patio and it was warm out so I didn't mind). I was told 25-35 minutes wait for the pizza which is on par with how long I should have expected for a Chicago style pizza. An hour and ten minutes later, I went inside, to find an employee playing on his phone during a very busy time, who stated my pizza was done. I assume my pizza had been ready for well over a half an hour, it was literally cold. I was hoping to drive back to my hotel to finish watching my beloved Seminoles win their bowl game but no such luck, instead, since my pizza was cooling down (luke warm) I sat outside and ate the pizza missing the bowl game. The pizza was good, I can only imagine how it would have tasted if I would have gotten it fresh out of the oven, but unfortunately, since I had no served, I was forgotten about. read more

The cheese gooey and melty like you see in pizza commercials... and there were loads of it too. The veggies complemented it very well. The portion size was pretty big too! I'd say it feeds 2-4. Next we got the great white which is a chicken and Alfredo sauce pizza. It was awesome! This is my third visit. Mama Mia's is pretty good at pizza. One pizza we ordered, the Tuscana, was supposed to have a pesto sauce but it came with a red sauce. Everything else was correct though. The waitress, Carolina, was very friendly. She guided us to better menu options so we would have a good experience. Bathrooms are relatively clean. There is a record on the door to show when it was cleaned and serviced. This is rare for a small business, but great! There was an awful smell of sewer when you first walked in, but it's really contained to the front door area and not in the dining room. read more
