We checked out Vino Thai when passing through the area last weekend. We dined in at about 3pm on a Saturday, so it was not terribly busy and the service was excellent and attentive. The restaurant itself is quite small so I can imagine that at busier times you may have a bit of a wait. Our meals were served promptly and very hot. We didn't get quite as much food as I would expect for the prices (for example, the $8.95 appetizer for two just has two very small selections of each appetizer). This restaurant does have a bar on site, so that is a nice option if you're looking for a night out with friends and drinks. We tried the Hawaiian Fried Rice and the Pad Thai, which were both ok. I'm not sure that I'd order the same thing again if I went back - it wasn't magical to me, but it was acceptable. I think what would keep me from going back is the high bill, with not much left over to take home. For a $40 meal, I would like to carry out a bit for tomorrow as well! read more

Ok. I came here today with my friend after long day of shopping in outlets, we took spring rolls, tom kha soup, spicy beef and pad thai. Honestly only beef wasn't mine service was good, music to change! (Instrumentals of Celine Dion greatest hits). Food is really fresh, authentic (besides of too much rice paper, like 3 layers on spring rolls). And one more thing, Im not a big fan of spicy food, but Thai kitchen should be well spiced or at least they should ask you about the level of spiciness. even for me I had to add a lot of spices by myself too reach desired flavor. We dined here twice while in town for a tournament and really liked the place. Their staff was really friendly, and there was enough space between tables to make us feel comfortable while we were there. The first time around I ordered the drunken noodles (my dish of choice when visiting Thai restaurants) and the sampler platter for an appetizer. We liked all the dishes from the sampler platter, but the spring rolls and chicken definitely stood out. The drunken noodles were different than what I got from Thai restaurants in NY, the one from Vino had more sauce, but it still tasted really good. The second time around I got the crazy noodles and that seemed closer to the drunken noodles I usually get, but the addition of the jalapeno just made it that much better. A new favorite dish for me! They also have bubble tea which we got to go after a long day. Again, in NY when we think of bubble tea it's usually flavored green tea, but over there it was more of a slushy. Still, it was great on a hot spring night, really yummy and refreshing. We wanted to go back for a third day (they have so many dishes we wanted to try), but considering we were only in St. Charles for a few days, we wanted to give other places a chance. I absolutely love this place! I travel 45 minutes to get the freshest, best tasting Thai food. And the owner Bill is always super friendly when we see him. His staff is always amazing. The veggies are freshly cooked, and not overcooked. My favorites are the Drunken Noodle, Veggie Stir Fry (you can add any meat/seafood), and the Pad Thai with Chicken. The best appetizers are, well, all of them. I love the fresh veggie spring rolls! And, I cannot forget the Green Tea Bubble Tea-I would highly recommend it as a take away or for your drive home. Quickly was seated and within 2 minutes asked if we were ready. granted, there was 3 of us sharing one menu. Different server came over 10 minutes later and we placed orders. Potstickers were good, red curry and fried rice decent. We also had some wide noodle dish pad something, can't remember the name. It was delish. My Golden Delight - which is basically chicken, broccoli and mushrooms was not good. Literally had MAYBE 8 pieces of small chicken and completely raw mushrooms. We walked out door at 7:21. that's almost 2 hours in a carry out restaurant. Service, well it was decent when we got it, and incredibly slow when we didn't. When my wife saw this place on the yelp app she thought it was an Italian place. "Let's check out Vinotie," she said. After enjoying a good laugh, we decided to check it out. Wow. We really liked the place. It has nice decor with a balance of a homey feel. At first we were a bit worried bringing our 15 month old, cause some times if she's feeling rowdy, we don't want to create a ruckus in the smaller restaurants. It turns out there was nothing to fear. The staff was very friendly and enjoyed playing peekaboo with our daughter. They took turns to make sure we were taken care of which is kind of nice. It wasn't super busy but it wasn't quiet either. It's nice when there is a team mentality so you don't have to look for your specific waiter/waitress. Quite a lot of pickup orders came through while we were eating. So that must be a good sign. We both got bubble smoothies (green tea and honey dew). They were a little sweet, but the tapioca balls were very yummy. Not like undercooked or anything like some places. We also got the sampler of apps to try out some of their different apps. They were pretty good overall. I got the kao soy and my wife got the Pad Thai. They were both pretty good. The Kee Mao was a little different than the one I usually get but it was still delicious and I was happy to have the option. It isn't always available at many other Thai restaurants. The Pad Thai was also pretty good in my opinion. Believe it or not you can get bad Pad Thai. The fresh sprigs of cilantro were delicious. Will definitely be back. read more

First off - I have to tell you that I'm kind of a Thai food addict. When living in Chicago I picked apartments based on the walking distance to good Thai restaurants. Now that I am a Suburban dweller I am always on this quest for tasty, tasty Thai cuisine. VinoThai has really great food. I have never been unsatisfied with anything they make. My all time favorite has been a Red curry daily special that had sweet potatoes (my odd current favorite ingredient) and pineapple. Their Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are also excellent. Their Thai iced tea is strong and taste-tastic. (its a word, deal with it.) The only downside is that their service is really pretty slow. I have not gone there for their lunch special yet - but I plan to. I love lunch specials. However, I did check out the lunch menu and for $7.95 you get soup, salad, egg roll or spring roll and a smaller portion of an entree. Sounds like a deal to me! Oh man! I didnt expect so a lovely dinner when I stopped here a couple weeks ago with the soon to me hubby. We needed a little nourishment on the way to one of the fab Yelp suburban parties. So I spotted this little place in a strip mall. FYI I can sniff out Thai like a damn bloodhound. I was fully intrigued by the name Wine with Thai hmmmm..... No I was wrong it was just a funny name there wasnt an extremely long wine list just the average bar. Anyways besides the silly name I didnt have one complaint. We started out with a couple signha's to get the party started.Then on to fried Tofu. Yum yum! It was cut in big crispy chunks ,paired with a sweet sauce.Oh wait, heres the best part of Vinothai...they give you your very own chili sauce to add as you please! So of course I tosssed a little in the fried tofu sauce and gave the tofu the perfect zest it needed! After much discussion I finally ended up ordering the Crazy noodle. Its pretty much just a fancy name for spicy basil with wide rice noodles. Holy hell was it good! I just planned on having a couple bites so I wouldnt fill up before the party but I ended up polishing that puppy off. Not even enough left for lunch the next day, I know fatty right? Oh well theres always new years resolutions to take care of the extra Thai lbs. I've been packin' on. Sammy ordered the chicken fried rice. Yes he is quite adventurous! My cousin and her now-husband had their wedding rehearsal dinner here. Our party took up the whole restaurant, not a big feat when the place is tiny. It was a set menu, but I didn't take a really good look at it so I can't remember everything we had. The spring rolls were good, very small pieces though. The crab rangoons were yummy. Our table finished them quickly so I headed to the kids' table under the guise of making sure my little brother wouldn't eat the crab rangoon. Just being the great older sister rescuing her brother from a lifethreatening allergy attack. There I found my mom stalking the kids' table for their crab rangoons too. Like mother, like daughter. The beef salad was good. The pad thai was off, but I couldn't put my finger on why it was. The hunt for pad thai better than Via Cafe's in LA's Chinatown continues. In town for 5 days for business and last thing I wanna do is eat at Olive Garden, chill is or some other horrible chain. This place was a gem. As all of the restaurants in this area seem to be located in a strip mall, just get over it. Nice clean atmosphere. I had the Tom Yam with shrimp and the curry with peas and chicken. The soup was excellent, had a good amount of shrimp in it and had an excellent, balanced taste. The curry was a little thicker than I am used to, but had a great aroma and excellent flavor. My normally pleasant Metra commute from Chicago to Geneva was hijacked by weather (again) last night and by the time we pulled into the station 1.5 hours later than usual, my fellow passengers were starting to resemble succulent turkey legs. I used the last of my dying phone battery to send an SOS to my husband: Must. Have. Thai. Food. Twenty minutes later, we were enjoying our first Thai takeout since moving to the area last month. Coming from the city where we regularly (too regularly, if you ask me) enjoyed King of Thai and Thai Spice (shout out!), we were worried about finding something that would measure up. We needn't have worried. I may have been 5- minutes-from-re-enacting-a-scene-from-"Alive" hungry, but this was seriously satisfying Thai. I ordered their Mus Sa Mun curry (I think that translates to "fattening deliciousness with 30 different spelling variations") as it's always a favorite of mine and if a place gets it right, I know I can trust them. They got it right. Creamy, not oily, with the perfect level of spicy sweetness. My husband ordered the drunken noodles and the chicken potstickers and raved about both. And the man is serious about his potstickers. I may go for their Pad Thai next time, though I'll feel like I'm cheating on Thai Spice. A girl has needs. read more

Came for lunch while working for the day in my company's St. Charles office. I had the red curry which was very flavorful, though it lacked ANY heat! But, I figure that next time I can ask for it to be spicy. It came w/ white rice...a lot of white rice! I am stuffed! I'd definitely eat here again next time I'm in town. I hadheard only good things about Vino Thai. My mother and my brother decided a visit was in order. The restaurant was at capacity when we were seated. It seemed that many people were also ordering takeout. I ordered the Crazy Noodle dish, which is comparable to pad kee mao at many typical thai restaurants. It was very good! A good balance of veggies, meat (pork), and noodles. I also ordered vegetable soup as an appetizer. Very tasty. My family ordered pad thai, and they both really enjoyed it. You're probably reading this and wondering, "How the heck can this guy enjoy the food so much and only rate it three stars?" Let me tell you... It took almost 45 minutes to get our three noodle dishes. I'm not sure if the waitress forgot to put the order in, if something happened in the kitchen, or whatever. There's no excuse for it either; most of the patrons in the restaurant were already served before we even ordered. I really want to give vino thai another chance, but I think I will be better off heading into downtown St charles and having a nice meal at Thai Zie. This is one of the better Thai food places I have eaten at, especially since it definitely owns most of the places I went to back in MA! Great staff too, very attentive and polite. I got Pad Thai. This one uses hard and sliced tofu (definitely more textural and chewy), which I am quite happy about. I'm sick of the ones that always comes with those squishy tofus! The sauce is sweet and definitely not like the ones I tried in other places. I highly recommend the Avocado Spring Roll (the light plum sauce is definitely one of a kind with this appetizer) and Mango with Sticky Rice (if you are feeling adventurous and love mangoes!). The sticky rice is similar to mochi, only this is covered with warm and sweet coconut milk with fresh sweet and ripe mango slices! Yum yum yum! Just keep in mind that it's only when it's in season. Food overall are in good portion sizes, and is vegetarian-friendly too! For fellow travelers like myself who had to wind up in an area with not much to do (came around here for a conference) and looking to try other types of food besides chain restaurants, definitely give Vinothai a try! We ordered satisfying satay, fried noodle and veggie apps, ok lard nar (good, but weakest dish that we ordered), very good pad see ew (we should have doubled this order. yum), HOT green shrimp curry (finally!), the boba in my taro bubble shake was a little firm, fried banana dessert was crunchy good. the service was kind of laid back to say the least but they weren't rushing my large party out the door either. This place is wonderful! I don't eat that much Thai food but its definitely comparable to the places my Thai food enthusiast friends take me too! Nicely decorated, calm quiet music, and clean. We live in the apartments near by and the complex has a contract with Vino Thai so that residents get 10% off, so we had to check it out. All of the food was delicious. We started with spring rolls and crab rangoons, both were awesome. The spring rolls were fresh and flavorful and the crab rangoons were light and creamy, not super greasy like most crab rangoons. (this seems to be a theme with all the reviews so probably try them!). I ordered Pot Stickers and Tom Yum soup as my entree and both were great, Flavorful and just the right amount of spice. My boyfriend ordered the crazy noodle with chicken and we both loved this as well, I kept reaching over and sealing his it was so good. Lots of veggies, good chicken to noodle ratio an the noodles themselves were tasty as well. I would recommend this place! Almost forgot- I got the Honeydew Bubble tea for dessert and it was goo as well, a little sweet but I would probably get it again! read more

Thai food should be fragrant, light, balanced. We ordered satay at Vinothai and while the chicken was well grilled though, the peanut sauce had no texture (it was more like peanut butter in a ramekin). The Golden Triangles were too fried, which obscured the taste of the filling. The tod mun (fish cakes) were cut up, and too thin to allow that lightness that the dish usually has. The soft shell crab had far too much batter and again, the taste of the meat was lost. The cucumber and peanut sauces had a glutenous red sauce that was replicated in the plum sauce accompanying the Triangles. But the pot stickers were fine, and the service was good and efficient. But it did not compare to Opart Thai in Chicago or other, better Thai restaurants. It just needed a lighter touch. read more

I enjoyed the food a lot. It's more modern but still has the traditional thai taste to it. I love there papaya salad. It's refreshing and not at all like how regular laos/thai papaya is (drenched in all that sauce and hot pepper). The day I went was with my sister and her daughter and it was quite slow. It was rainy that day though. Only a few others in the restaurant with us and we had went for lunch. We ended up just sharing pad thai because it came out on a big platter enough for two adults. The price was amazing because our bill was less than 20$ altogether. I love this place it's very cute and little and a great thai place in St. Charles. read more
