I am totally disgusted with the staff in this store who do not know nothing about customer service…read more They do not even know their own policies regarding refunds and lie regarding issues when they need to do a bit of work. Ask Jordan their manager there - full of lies on Sunday when she says that their head office is closed. In fact it is open 7 days a week! I have raised a formal complaint now and will be taking this issue to both trading standards and the Consumer Ombudsman as they have are totally stupid in resolving issues. Even their head office is full of non English speaking staff who do not understand anything plus even when you write to their customer service team they cannot address an issue. I will never use Matalan again.

I was interested in selling a painting to them/through them of a notable artist that they had…read morepreviously sold. Gillie asked me to send the painting to a conservator in my city. She then stole the painting and took it to england without any notice. When I protested, she claimed I was being dramatic and told me to wait. One year later, I hadn't received any funds from them. I consulted a solicitor in London and only under legal threat did Gillie pay, but just one half of the value of my painting. Total scam artists.

I've actually picked up quite a few books here over the past year and I've always had a pretty good experience. In the cases where I came in and been a pain in the ass and asked them for a book with the vaguest of details, they've always been eager to help and very pleasant. Prices are good too, though I have to say, the selection is light for areas like travel and non-UK history. Recommended bookshop.

Untrustworthy, dishonest, rude, scam…read more A purchase was made on this website without my consent. I emailed them multiple times about it right away, as my bank alerted me of the fraudulent charge. They emailed me telling me they had already shipped the item, then within minutes they replied to my emails from the day prior pleading them to cancel the order. I agreed that if I received the item I would just return it for a refund. I had to reach out to the post office to intercept the package bc they sent it to someone else's address. Over a month later, and it's safe to say I'm never getting the record so I can return it.

On emailing them asking if there had been an issue, they did not apologise and never gave a reason for the lack of message I requested in the order email. Many friends had the same issue. I booked two weeks in advance and clearly explained the job: a 1-bedroom flat, third floor. After notifying them the day before that the lift was out of service, I was told I could either accept two movers and "give them a tip" or wait for three. I insisted on three. They ignored me and sent only two. The movers were rude and aggressive from start to finish. When I called the office to complain, I was met with poor customer service, no empathy, and no accountability. The most shocking part was being told they wouldn't unload my belongings unless I paid cash. I felt pressured into paying because I was in a vulnerable position, and I did not feel free to leave until the payment was made. Literally held hostage!! as a woman this is scary Moving is stressful enough without feeling intimidated over your own belongings. Based on my experience, I would never use this company again and strongly recommend that others avoid them too.

After venturing in, I was pounced on by a man who I later deduced was the manager who would not leave me alone. I tried to browse but to no avail. I tried a jacket, which was lovely but out of my price range but he would not have that as the end of it. I left soon after feeling rather put off by the whole experience. This style of sales died out with the ark I thought! I will not be back

This store is in the right place for the right reasons, yet there's not much to be noted about it…read more They have a good selection of cute, fluffy toys that a child you know may hug briefly before being tossed aside in favour of the almighty Xbox 360. Most of these items appeared to be brand new too, with the clothing section remaining within the operative word of the phrase 'second hand'. The reading habits of the donators in the Putney area has to be commended: I found some cool novels by Yann Martell and Bill Bryson, two of my favourites! As always, prices are super low and if you go it's always a good thing to support a good cause. There's a load of old trinkets and household goods too, and you always get the feeling you might just pick up something old, valuable and random. Like Hitler's dinner fork.
