    Lump crab linguini
    Ashley S.

This place was fantastic! I was skeptical about going to a seafood restaurant in Kentucky, but it was really good. We had a reservation for 20, so 2 large tables. They had bread and water set out when we got there. They were on top of it! I ordered the Kentucky lady cocktail, which was fantastic. For my entree I went with the lump crab linguini and my god was that out of this world. The chunks of crab were not disappointing. Serving bottomless community salad was an interesting touch. I didn't have room for dessert, but I'm certain that would have been fantastic too.

My wife and I had an exceptional meal here during Lexington Restaurant Week 2025 in July. They offered a $49 three course meal which may not sound like much of a "special". But there was so much food! And it was all fantastic. That isn't always the case during a promotional week when prices are lower and traffic is higher. But Malone's is always busy so they can handle it. And handle it, they did. Standard size portions of the sushi roll, baked potato, steak, everything. No corners cut. See pics. And they do this everyday. We're regulars for a reason. It can be loud and crowded but still comfortable most times. A variety of seating options from bar to patio to dining room. And a menu with something for everyone. I'm not a fan of their burgers. I've tried several times and they just don't hit for me. But their fried shrimp is excellent. Steaks almost always on point. Loaded Baked Potatoes are the best. And the Lexingtonian Salad is awesome.

During Lexington's annual burger week we selected Malone's for one of our nights. Tried the French dip burger and it was all so good. Burger week burgers are just seven dollars. We added Malone's famous Lexington salad. The beer on tap was icy cold. Our server (Luke) did a nice job considering how busy the restaurant was for this mid week burger week dinner time slot. Parking on the other hand was a challenge. All of their lots were so full that we were forced to park across the road on side streets. Usually on our visit to Malone's Hamburg, we request a booth in the main bar area and enjoy people watching in that part of the restaurant. The attached restaurant called Harry's was also full and a bit more humid because of the outside window access. Malone's always does a fine meal we have been before we enjoyed our recent visit and we will return again.

Everything was delicious. The butter they give you with the bread was so flavorful! Our steaks were all prepared to a perfect temp! The pixie stick martini was addicting!!!

As soon as I walked in, the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. She asked if we wanted to be seated right away, and I explained that we were waiting for the rest of our party since the host hadn't arrived yet. I did ask for a menu, but there appeared to be four or five different menus, which was confusing and not clearly explained at the door. Once our host arrived, we were seated. For anyone wondering about the atmosphere--it's casual and relaxed. Our server, Kelly (if I'm remembering her name correctly), was wonderful. She was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. She brought out our Smoked Chestnut Old Fashioned, along with the appetizers: spinach artichoke dip and carpaccio. Everything was delicious, and the cocktail was smooth, aromatic, and nicely balanced with a smoky finish. The bread service was also a nice touch. For my entrée, I ordered the 5 oz steak with crab and elote. The steak itself was cooked perfectly--right on temperature, tender, and flavorful. The elote was served separately in a white bowl, as shown in the photo, and was enjoyable on its own. What I didn't understand was the "crab" component, which turned out to be a deep-fried sushi roll. That pairing alongside a steak felt unexpected, and the overall plate composition and presentation didn't quite come together for me. That said, this may simply be a difference in perspective. I personally place a strong emphasis on plate presentation and cohesion, and Malone's may focus more on comfort and execution than visual refinement. Overall: Excellent service, a great cocktail, and a perfectly cooked steak. While the rest of the plate wasn't what I expected, the experience was still enjoyable.

Atmosphere was great, service was great. Best filet I've ever had from a restaurant so far. Definitely will be back

I recently had oral surgery and was not too excited to join my sisters for a night out. Fortunately, I was able to find something on the menu that I could enjoy. The miso soup and crème brûlée were spectacularly superb. Sidenote: we had a large party and desired to sit together. Instead, we were seated as two rows of two tables. We were able to arrange the tables in a conference still manner to suit our needs. Thankfully, we were able to enjoy our arrangement without too much interference.

Most of Malone's menu isn't really my thing - I don't ever order steak, don't eat sushi and salads just aren't a go-to when I visit a restaurant. But they quite possibly have the best chicken tenders I've ever had and the portion sizes are enormous! Two people could have easily shared this meal. The seasoning they use is really flavorful- it definitely stands out and the ranch is also pretty fire. They have some great side options and make sure you also try the butter that comes with the bread they bring to the table. That stuff is amazing too! We had a large party to celebrate a birthday and our server was excellent, making sure she attended to everyone at the table. There are a couple locations in Lexington, so be sure to stop in if you're looking for good food!

In searching for steakhouses in KY, this one came up several times and boasted being a top 100 American steakhouses etc. We parked across the street and walked in, quickly sat and addressed by the waiter's helper - young guy who was obviously faded. Do you I don't care. Taller waiter in the sport jacket and a little shaggier hair. Ordered the crab bisque to start, along with the table bread. The soup was very good - in a bowl too a large portion but the flavor was very very good. I ordered an old fashioned and an iced tea and they never came out. When waiter asked what he could get for us I mentioned the drinks. Then he brought them out. For my entree I went with the barrel filet (12oz) and ordered it medium. My bud ordered the petit filet medium. My steak came out more medium well, in parts well, and hers came out medium rare, in some places rare. So the waiter come back and she points out it's under cooked and he skeptically furrows his brow and cocks his head and says uh let me show the manager. Comes back and says "the manager confirmed it's undercooked." So let me get this straight - we need to throw a challenge flag to the manager to confirm a customer's dissatisfaction ? Had he said no that's medium I would have pointed to mine and said okay how about this one? Manager comes over - very nice and apologizes. If you have STEAK in your name - you better cook it properly. They sent it back and recooked it - still came out pink so hell with it. (Apologies I forgot to take a picture of the steaks I was flustered and angered) Along with our Jekyll and Hyde steaks we added the Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts. They were fine. I asked the waiter asst for sweetener packets - then watched him do a little bit of everything before returning for something else and I had to remind him. I got the carrot cake for dessert which was very good - and I had to take half of it boxed up for later. Then the check comes, and waiter says the desserts and non-alcoholic drinks are free due to the issues. I provide card and the waiter comes back with his furrowed brow and cocked head saying my card didn't go thru. The card I use-- never declines. Ever. I ask him to try again, which he does on another computer and VOILA! it works. To add further upset, this man CIRCLES THE ORIGINAL TOTAL TO MAKE SURE I KNOW WHAT IT WAS TO TIP HIM OFF THAT ---- Like I'm 23 and have never been to a nice place like this? The bill was $329 and he thinks what? I'm going to stiff him on the tip? Crazy work. Two stars only bc the dessert and soup was good and the manager was a nice guy.

An Absolute Standout in Lexington Dining…read more We decided to give Blue Heron Steakhouse a try after noticing it shared a name with another restaurant in a neighboring county--though it quickly became clear this is a completely different (and exceptional) establishment. Encouraged by strong local reviews praising its cozy, rustic, and intimate atmosphere--along with consistently attentive, friendly service--we walked in with high expectations. Blue Heron exceeded them at every turn. From the moment you enter, the original rustic design and softly ambient lighting set the tone for a dining experience that feels warm, inviting, and effortlessly refined. There's an intimacy to the space that makes it ideal for both special celebrations and elevated everyday dining. Service was outstanding, with special recognition going to our server Carlo. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making the evening exceptional. The entire staff demonstrated professionalism and confidence, offering thoughtful recommendations and personal touches that enhanced the experience without ever feeling intrusive. The menu reflects a clear commitment to farm-to-table dining, showcasing some of the finest locally sourced ingredients available. Every dish balanced innovation with comfort, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine. We began with the baked brie, which was luxuriously creamy and indulgent in all the right ways, followed by West Coast oysters--a smart sourcing choice by the owner. They were impeccably fresh, beautifully plated, and delivered that perfect briny finish oyster lovers crave. For the main course, we selected the Porterhouse Steak for Two, which proved to be the most cost-effective option and an outstanding choice overall. Charbroiled to perfection, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and deeply flavorful, the steak was a true centerpiece of the meal. It's served with four sides and accompanied by house steak sauce upon request, with excellent optional additions such as green peppercorn sauce, béarnaise, grilled onions and mushrooms, or bordelaise. The creamed spinach deserves its own praise--it was unlike any we've had before, rich and perfectly executed. The kitchen clearly understands steak preparation at a serious, professional level. Dessert was the perfect finale. Though not typically a carrot cake enthusiast, this version was exceptional--moist, warmly spiced, and beautifully balanced. It was, quite literally, just what the doctor ordered. The cheesecake was equally impressive: silky, restrained in sweetness, and refined. A word of advice: don't forget your wallet. Blue Heron Steakhouse delivers premium quality food and top-tier service, and prices reflect that level of excellence. That said, the experience justifies every dollar. Blue Heron is the kind of restaurant you return to with confidence. Whether marking a milestone or transforming an ordinary Tuesday into something memorable, it consistently delivers. For those who appreciate exceptional steaks, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that feels both intimate and elevated, Blue Heron Steakhouse is an absolute must-visit.

The burger, on the other hand, was very good and easily the best value of everything we tried. If I ever go back, that's probably what I'd order. The biggest disappointment was the service. Our server clearly wasn't having a good day, didn't seem interested in us, and let our drinks sit empty long enough that we had to wave him down just to get refills.
