Great service! Food is great and very fast while waiting for the ferry. Great stop before heading over to Fire Island. Excellent drinks and a wide variety of cocktails. Fully stocked bar.

So we got to the fairies... I mean ferries a little early and had plenty of time to kill. We grabbed a seat at the bar (you'll need cash as they don't take cards at the bar; bring enough because their ATM has a $4 fee attached) the bartender was a nice enough gent, talked to us a bit before it got crazy busy with the rush to the pines/grove. He told us how the cook/owner whatever, was from Barbados (my eyes lit up as I love Barbados and the food there is so spice driven like the way I like to cook myself) this being said I dive right in with too high of expectations, did I just find a diamond in the rough?? I ordered a Bloody Mary as I reviewed the menu. This was by far one of the worst bloodys I've ever had. Left and right they were ordering piña colodas which just looked off colored when being poured from containers into the frozen drink machine so I couldn't imagine being happy with that. Moving onto the meal I had the fish, it was a big portion for the money considering you got some grilled veggies, a salad, and some tasty potato salad along side the dish. It was your basic grilled fish platter though, no diamond in the rough, however it was very enjoyable nothing I'd really complain about if the word "Barbados" was swirling around my memory driven brain. If I'm there and need something in a pinch, I would certainly sit and try some more of the menu, am I going out of my way to get there, no way.

Bar service was excellent, reasonably priced for all, especially when you consider the prices one faces once on Fire Island.

I love finding new favorites so close to home! After a few tastings at LI Salted Spirits…read moredistillery, we took a quick walk into town for dinner at Cafe Joelle and wow, the atmosphere alone caught me off guard. Such a gorgeous, hidden gem vibe with plenty of seating whether you want the bar or a table. The food was genuinely unforgettable, we were still talking about it days later. If you love bold flavor with a little heat, this is your spot. We got the Bruschetta (grilled herb crostini, mozzarella, plum tomato compote), P.E.I. Mussels (chorizo, cherry pepper, riesling white wine), Wasabi Calamari (sesame crusted, spicy soy ginger sauce, wasabi aioli), Shrimp Mezze Rigate (pesto, sun-dried tomato, asparagus, breadcrumb, ricotta salata), and Cherry Pepper Pork (pounded, breaded, pan-fried, lemon cherry pepper sauce, melted parmesan, green beans, roasted potato), every dish was packed with flavor. Don't sleep on dessert either: a chocolate shell you crack open to reveal mousse inside, we were fighting to get the last bites! Bonus: they carry LI Salted Spirits cans and cocktails right at the bar, so you can keep the tasting going. Plenty of parking, super friendly staff, and a great spot for everyone. Highly recommend, ten out of ten!

Their specials sounded amazing and their food is fantastic. Myself, I enjoyed a cherry pepper pork chop cutlet. It was huge, and I loved every bite of it. We were told they had a great bingo night and fantastic food and drinks. That proved to be an excellent recommendation. The Wayward is located in the heart of the quaint village of Sayville. It is a spacious establishment with a large bar, plenty of tables as well as booth seating . We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender Brian. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food and drink choices. He took the time to note our preferences within the dishes offered. It was apparent to us that Brian and the 2nd bartender Meg were extremely hard working, friendly and efficient. We started with a few drinks. Nothing fancy. I had a rum & coke and my wife went with Prosecco. Both were good. For dinner I went with gnocchi with chicken sausage in a pink cream sauce Absolutely fantastic! The kicker was the large dollop of fresh mozzarella on top. My wife chose the Chicken Milanese with roasted potatoes . She noted that the chicken was pan seared, breaded , moist and delicious. She opted to get it without the tomatoes and onions that accompany it. The potatoes were amazing. (I snagged a few so I can confirm this!) Deliciously seasoned, crispy on the outside moist and creamy on the inside. The bingo was also great! Chris was a great host. The prizes were great , although we didn't win anything. All in all a great night! A pleasant change of pace . We fully recommend The Wayward whether it for bingo night or dinner and drinks . Fantastic atmosphere, great food, great service.

That said, we were greeted by the bartender as soon as we entered, and served promptly. They do give free popcorn too which is a nice touch these days. Prices are average for LI, maybe even slightly lower than average. Narragansett pint and a local citrus hoppy one came to...I think $15-16. It has that classic, dark feel inside. Can only imagine how it was back in the smoking days. Good selection of beer and liquor. As for wine, I saw Corbett Canyon swill being poured. At least it was from a magnum bottle and not a box. Probably the same product. So "avoid wine and you'll do just fine" if you're in the area and want a drink here. Can't comment on the food. It's cool to see how booze can help bring people together (and not just destroy). For example, an older gentleman came in and the bartender (believe his name was Jay) remembered his usual order of Heineken light and a whisky shot and had it ready quick while enjoying a shot with the patron. Perhaps we've found the fountain of youth after all.
