It's a mall that doesn't feel like a mall! There are hardly any stores here; it's a place you come if you have a destination, like Target or Bed Bath & Beyond. You don't come here to walk around the mall and then go in interesting stores that catch your eye. The halls are just that, a hall leading to the few stores mentioned above and random kiosks that you wonder how they stay in business or keep employees. No one shops there. The best store in the mall is the DMV, which I've written a review about. It's modern, large, clean, and is staffed with people that actually move quickly! I live in SW but drive here whenever I need a DMV visit. To me, Mall 205 references an area that houses Home Depot, BB&B and Target. I called this location, Mall 205 on SE Washington, Portland Oregon 6....SIX times in a row without success! I finally called the HR department so I could talk to an actual person that might be able to help me. I was looking for an item that online staTed there were 3 available in this store. I know better, before driving there I want to have a person actually check. Well of course they didn't have any, not even 1 let alone 3. This is supposed to be a remodeled store, yet they never have advertised products or anything on the shelves in general. Avoid this location at all costs. Mall 205 is clean. The stores here are solid (Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, 24 Hour Fitness, Performance Bicycle). Inside scoop...the Mall 205 DMV location is the best one in the Portland area because it's not as busy as the other DMVs. Target here is great too! Parked my motorhome here to take a break from the road, and get a quick bite to eat. I was here for 30 minutes taking a brake. I get a knock on the door informing me that no over night parking is aloud by security. He was polite! I told him I would be on my way. To the person that complained. Mall 205 - Shopping Centers Near Me - Portland, Oregon

"The most depressing mall on earth" might sound like an exaggeration for Mall 205, but "most depressing mall in Portland" is by no means a stretch. It's the kind of place where few souls walk the halls, where trash accumulates the bins, and the aura / energy level is near zero. If the apocalypse were to ever happen economically, this is the epitome of a dead mall. Empty. Desolate. Lonely. All fitting words to describe this mall, where most of the store stalls remain empty, the people traffic is non-existent, and the few people that come here are the employees of the existing stores and shoppers who have no where else to turn. Despite the eerie silence that fills the hallways, at least the place, including the bathrooms, are fairly clean. Save for a Target (http://www.yelp.com/biz/target-portland-3) and perhaps a Bed Bath and Beyond (http://www.yelp.com/biz/bed-bath-and-beyond-portland-2), there is almost nothing else worth looking at. That is unless of course, you're down for a diamond via Harry Richie's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/harry-ritchies-jewelers-mall-205-portland) (#1) but it's bad when even McMenamin's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mcmenamins-mall-205-pub-portland) is looking sketch. It wasn't always supposed to be like this. Hazelwood was supposed to be an area where things were happening; a new change in Portland where the gentrification would soon revitalize an otherwise downtrodden hood. But thanks to several major stores pulling out with subsequent neighboring and smaller stores following suit, it just happened to fall at a time when the downtown of the economy was at practically at it's worst. It would seem that this "mall" only exists due to the Target and DMV. It's a pretty sad state of affairs with not much going on. My friend thought it was odd that there's a DMV inside a mall, but I don't see an issue with it. The rent is probably cheap. read more

I actually really like this place and I've been going here for the past ten years. Yes, there are only a handful of big box stores here and some small ones that come and go. But that's what makes this place great. I usually workout the 24-Hour Fitness. I never have any problem finding a parking spot in the back. Also, since now Target has a grocery food section, I can just shop for my groceries over there. Yes, I agree. The dead spaces kinda sad. I think the problem is that the signs on I-205 weren't placed in a very strategic location. Especially if you're coming from I-84. I lost count how many times I missed the exit, even though I live in the area for more than ten years. read more

I joined the 24 Hour Fitness gym a few days ago. Everything is great, but today as I was parked in the parking lot checking my phone, a security guard turned on his lights and asked if he could help me. I told him I was a member and he said "well sir, even though you're a member, there is no loitering in the parking lot." Do you ever want to feel sad for the death of 1980's retail? Stop by Mall 205 and take a stroll down memory lane. This is truly a "mall" in name only. In reality, it's more of an indoor strip mall anchored by Target, Home Depot and, if you can call it an anchor, Bed Bath & Beyond. A walk from one end to the other doesn't take more than about five minutes, and during said tour you'll pass maybe as many going ventures, with many more empty, forlorn, dark berths scattered throughout. A 24-Hour Fitness has taken over part of this "mall", and still surviving are a jewelry store, two food options (a reportedly decent gyro spot and a pizza venture that took over a failed Schmizza), Famous Footwear, Performance Cycles and the staple of any blue-collar-demographic gathering place - an armed forces recruiting center. Sometimes when I'm rolling from Target down to Home Depot I pass by this AFRC and wonder if some teens who visit this mall get so bored for lack of anything to do that they give up and join the Army. At times I wonder how any of the non-destination stores survive in this wasteland. I also like to ponder just how this mall died such an unforgiving death. Actually, it's not really dead. It's more like the walking dead... still trudging along on it's zombie mission to eat brains and wallets. I do visit this mall more often than I'd care to admit. It's in my hood and sports the closest Home Depot to my house as well as the closest bike store. While I prefer to buy my wares from local stores, sometimes when I'm mid-project and in need of something specific, I don't have the time/energy to travel farther afield or make multiple stops at more specialty stores. That said, I always kind of dread coming here, because yeah... it does make me a little sad to see this undead relic of hopeful consumerism struggling to breathe. There is a part of me that wants to buy a gyro to support this rare little local business that inhabits a mall. I did try the pizza once, and that was enough for me. Pretty much the rest of the shops here are huge chains, so I don't really care how they fare. I hope that if I ever get to be like this mall, someone puts me out of my misery. read more

If I reviewed this place in the early 90's - FIVE STARS. Aladdin's Castle arcade, a sit-down A&W Restaurant, Spencers Gifts, Kaybee Toys (yes...before it was KB Toys), Scamp's, Payless, Hush Puppies shoe store, Emporium, a small DMV center, COOKIE CONNOISSEUR (loved getting a free cookie there), Montgomery Wards, Waldenbooks (and then B. Dalton), Game Trader, Musicland/Sam Goody, Orange Julius, Hickory Farms, and an awesome triangular fountain outside of Wards that you could sit around. I think that is still there, minus the fountain part of it. Oh....and the theater! My favorite theater! Four screens if I recall correctly, and I think it was run by Act III. Thank you Mall 205 Cinema for The Lion King and Spy Hard, and lots of others I'm sure. This was a great mall. Quality stores (lots I just can't even remember at this time) and it was not ever crammed with shoppers. Easy to navigate and you could find everything there. 2011........WHAT? What happened to my mall? Home Depot on one end, Target on the other....and empty hallways between them. You might as well hang up paintings and make it a museum in there. Quiet and empty. What a sad, sad little mall. With store space at about 60% capacity, the interior acts as little more than a hallway between Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Home Depot. And while I find those 3 stores useful, the actual mall is just a depressing waste of space. I personally believe they should knock down the ceilling and many of the walls and convert it to an open atrium. If you have a dark sense of humor or are just too happy and want to feel depressed, I suggest coming at Christmas time and checking out the spectacularly sad mall Santa. Sad, dying testament to poor urban planning and zoning. It's rather sad to watch these lesser strip malls become homes to anchor tenants such as Burlington Coat Factory or Target (which is the anchor tenant here). The rest of the mall is dismal and sad. I only go here to work out at the 24 hour fitness. I avoid the common area of the mall because it's so depressing, instead opting to go into the gym directly from the parking lot. read more

I don't get how they get away with calling this place a mall. I mean their food court is a middle eastern place that I have only seen open maybe twice. It is the most deserted mall I have ever seen. I've been to some pretty embarrassing malls in my life, but I've never seen anything truly this bad until now. Roughly 99% of the store fronts are empty, the entire food court is empty store fronts besides one place to eat from, the restrooms near the food court are down a long sketchy hallway and are disgusting, there's a magic theater that I've heard is never open, and their mall Santa looks depressing and was on his phone when I waked both directions past him. I honestly felt that just by walking through this mall I would get some kind of infection. This mall is worse than the Lloyd Center and that really says a lot about how bad it is here. read more

So, there's pretty much nothing here. I think people come here specifically for some of the stores such as BBB, Target, 24 Hour Fitness, and DMV. Not sure how the businesses survive. The only reason I go is because the Bed Bath & Beyond is the only one on this side of Portland. This place is so-so. I go here all the time to hang out and that's about it. I don't really classify this place as a 'mall' anymore. Just a hang out spot. I love this mall. Its calm, serene, unpretentios, and a haven on rainy days in Feb. You can get exercise by walking around or using the gym, get a pedicure, and peruse target bargains. Long live mall 205! The empty shops are part of the charm. read more

Over all it was a good experience. Not to long of a wait. But when I got up to the counter I did not have the right paperwork so the clerk gave we a paper so I could come back later that day and not have to wait in line again . Came back and went right to the counter and got the car registered no problems . read more

In 90's this mall was small but great. It had everything. Grocery, drug store, two major department stores gym, An food court beyond belief for such a small food court. Greek, indian,chinese,pizza hut,mc donalds,ice cream, & oriental soup kitchen. I went there yesterday for the first time in ten years And stood in disbelief. Everything is gone. All that is left is a target at one end and a home depot at the other. There are a small handful of venders spead vacantly through the mall. When I went to the food court, samething....all was gone except one...and always the best, Ozzy's greek food. They have the best chicken gyros in the world. If you go to mall 205 , you must stop at Ozzy's. It will make your trip worth it. There is a god. And the same smiling lady that was there ten years ago is still there and remembered my name :) read more
