This has been the most unpleasant business experience of my life. I work with horses and golf carts are the transportation at competitions. These properties are massive. It makes it extremely hard to run a business with no transportation. Walking at most venues is not reasonable if you have multiple horses or clients. I would also like to preface this with the fact that Doug came highly recommended to me by a friend, similar to the reviews on here. My golf cart was picked up by Doug seemingly in January, it was supposed to be in October but I only received confirmation in Jan. My step mother had to call after six months of him ignoring my texts/calls and pretend to be interested in purchasing a golf cart for him to answer. When she said the real reason his response was "I've had so many celebrity clients I haven't looked at it yet". Finally this fall I was at the end of my rope and decided I was just going to pick it up. It took several weeks to get any kind of straight answer and based on his behavior I thought maybe it wasn't there anymore. I arranged a professional horse transport to pick it up as a stop along his trip. I asked Doug to send me a photo of the cart so I could send it to the hauler. He completely ignored me. Doug gave him a random, not operational golf cart that clearly belonged to someone else, as it had the farm logo on it. (I have attached a photo below just in case the owner is looking for it). Shortly after the driver left Doug said "your driver picked up the wrong cart." After I freaked out he blamed personal problems for the "mishap" and finally said "I gave him the wrong cart". I'm That cart was dropped of to us at a competition in thermal ca. This golf cart did not run. We were constantly having to push it around because there was no place to have it sit and not be in the way. We got dozens of calls from the organizers asking us to move it because it was in the way/fire hazard. He was supposed to come pick up the other persons golf cart and swap it out for mine. He said that if I gave him two weeks he would fix mine and he would bring a working golf cart. After several days of being bombarded with calls about the calumet cart I told doug I would no longer be responsible for it, my people were having to stop what they were doing to move this thing a dozen times a day. He cancelled every single morning for a new reason at the 11th hour with a different excuse of why he could not pick up this other persons golf cart which he gave to my hauler. He was supposed to bring the money owed to me for the hauler, which was $600, and the $400 for the four days that we had to rent a cart when he was saying he was either too drunk, didn't have staff that day, was at a meeting etc. I told him several times the days before that if he actually did come he needed to bring the money he owed me. I posted a yelp review, similair to this one, and he said he would not come unless it was removed. When I said I would not think about removing it until he made it right, he finally came after a whole morning of excuses and attempted manipulation. When he finally got there he told my employee that I had not told him to bring any money until he was already on his way. Which you can see in the text messages is an outright lie. Since then he has either ignored or combatted every request I have made to just pick up my golf cart and be done with it. I have literally begged him at times. He very clearly stated after the wrong cart fiasco that he would only be charging me for parts. He also said he will pay for the invoice if I had it fixed elsewhere. Now he's going on and on about an invoice and denying both of those claims. I asked him yesterday if he had even touched it and he replied "nope". Then shortly after listed all of the things they had done. The only services I requested were to get it running, now he's claiming he's done basically everything to it but get it running. Every single screw up of Doug's he has tried to manipulate his way out of. Trying to guilt me over personal tragedies or personal problems. He has now called me a B**** twice among other personal insults. I am desperately trying to regain my property from a man who is trying to grandstand about his sobriety at the same time he is calling me crying and talking about how drunk he is. Trying to work with this business will drain you mentally and I highly recommend against it. IF YOU DONT WANT TO END UP IN COURT LIKE ME FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR GOLF CART. I let Doug know I would have the sheriffs dept escort us to pick up my cart and he sent me these pics of him with the dept and said "call them, the captain and his boys are my friends." read more

I recently had a fantastic conversation with Doug at Malibu custom carts. We are having a large medical drill in the area and needed some transportation for the victim "roll players" to the various training sites. Not only did Doug help out with our needs, gave excellent advise for a better fit for our needs, better fit for our program. Did not try and sell me on a bag of goods I did not need. Bottom line they did not pick my pocket for more money. I have called other organizations and in no way did I get the personal service. I would recommend them. I've never in my life met a bigger flake. The owner was all over the place about the price he was going to charge me. When i finally got the bill it was a lot more expensive than the original quote. and i was even charged for some white duct tape, as apposed to the new arm rest i requested and paid for. There are better golf cart companies out there. If this wasn't bad enough, during the initial consultation the owner talked very little about what could be the problem with my cart, what he did talk about was how his wife got cancer and how he worked in the film industry. I'm not sure what the relevance of that was, but it seemed very unprofessional. read more
