Mali's special - $13. needed to be toasted more. Was disappointed that it only had two thin slices of meat. Onions had a ton of bite. Taste was fine. Chef's salad - $12. Comes with ranch. Uses iceberg for the lettuce. Comes with one egg split in half. Was just okay. Needed more cucumbers and maybe an avocado or more egg or grilled chicken? I couldn't finish as I got tired of the flavor. Cafe de la olla - $4 for a small. If you don't like your coffee black, ask for room for sugar/milk/creamer. They have a side bar with these available but people tend to stand in front of them/block them. Coffee tastes like warm spices. Note, prices listed do not include tax. Street parking only. During lunch hour parking is rough. You can order online. Lots of seating inside and out. Food was ready quickly. Salads are pre made in the case. Check their instagram for monthly specials. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Mali's Deli is located in an industrial office complex just east of the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa. I don't believe they have been open for very long. Look for the outdoor tables with red canopies and park near that area. Signs will then point you to the entrance of Mali's. The inside of the suite looked like a cafeteria with several tables and countertop seating along a set of windows. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 am and then lunch is available from 11 am to 3 pm. I visited during lunch hour to pick up a couple of sandwiches to go. You could build your own sandwich or select from over a dozen specialty sandwiches. Wraps, specialty burgers, salads, and soups were the other categories. Many of the items were named after San Diego landmarks or neighborhoods. I picked two specialty sandwiches which were sold by the half or whole (my choice). Prices ranged as low as $7.49 for a half to as high as $14.99 for a whole. The TOPGUN was my first selection that had ingredients of tuna salad, alfalfa sprouts, cheese, avocado, and cucumber. Wheat and provolone were my options for the bread (toasted) and cheese respectively. The USS Midway Torpedo was my second selection that was made up of dry salami, genoa salami, ham, provolone cheese, and Italian dressing on a fresh French roll. Both sandwiches were dressed with the works (lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mustard, and mayonnaise). A dill pickle spear was also included with each item. I liked the torpedo better because of the French roll. It was soft and held the components together in a tighter fashion. The two types of salami didn't hurt either. The ladies that staffed the service counter were very pleasant. Mali's Deli is a nice dining option for those who work nearby and within walking distance. For those like me who came from farther away, it was a decent experience.

I've been hitting up Yelp's top 10 delis in San Diego and this was definitely a worthy entry. Mali's is a cute little place on a cul-de-sac of tech businesses near the Montgomery Field airport off Ruffin Road. There is ample seating outside with umbrellas to protect folks like me who explode into flame if sun touches them. I got a turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwich on lightly toasted sourdough. It was delicious with plenty of fresh ingredients. The staff was super nice and attentive and went out of their way to get my Dad's fussy tuna sandwich order correct. I'll definitely be coming back! Thank you ladies!

It is a cool concept. I finally got the chance to try it out. I walked in and there was a solo customer and a group of three people ahead of me. The solo customer had just finished her order and I was focused on the menu so not really paying attention. Basically, you choose your base, additional add-ins, a protein, and dressing. The party of three in front of me were kind of talking amongst themselves and told me that I could go ahead. As I was ordering, I noticed they changed their mind and abruptly headed out. I was unsure why. The place is clean and ingredients look super fresh. As I was finishing up my order, I saw why they changed their mind and left. The woman serving me was helping me cut up my protein (chicken) and scooped it up with the knife and her gloves hand. She proceeded to pick up the remaining pieces with her gloved hand and place it in my salad. She immediately grabbed a towel and wiped her gloved hands with said towel. I was shocked and grossed out at the same time! She then rang me up (with same gloves on) and packed my order ina bag. I did not see her change her gloves at all. I understood why the party of three in front of me left. I was hopeful that the gloves were relatively new. I thought if I air fried the chicken well enough before the eating it with the salad, I might be safe. I was wrong. I had food poisoning. The salad was likely compromised by the chicken, but it could easily have been the chicken too (although I heated it up really well). I know it was from the salad because this was the only thing I ate that day and within the last 24 hours. When I work my shifts, I fast and when I get off, I sleep and get food a few hours after I wake up. It is sad because this place is clean and ingredients look fresh. The woman who handled my food was relatively friendly. I think she just needs retraining. This is why food servers get food handlers cards. I did scope out the place the next time I was eating at Flame Broiler. It was a different server and he changed his gloves and appeared to handle everything properly. That's why I can't give this place just a one star. Just be aware of how your food is being handled when you go in. Gloves are good if you change them and know how to handle food properly... otherwise, they are pointless! 0 / 5 - Food (poor handling) 3 / 5 - Cleanliness 3 / 5 - Service 2 / 5: Overall

For the price, I do think the portions are large. They don't skimp and fill the bowl to the brim with ingredients of your choosing. I also like that the free bread they include is pita. I find that while the portions are huge, it's never truly satisfying. Some of the greens can look a little limp, so I often choose my base based on what looks the most fresh. Some of the ingredient toppings are raw, while others have a marinade or seasoning. I like the seasoned cauliflower, but find the brussell sprouts to be dry and not quite right (in between raw and cooked). I've gotten a few different salads from here, but there's just something missing. I love a make your own salad concept and I appreciate the accessibility of a healthy food option, but would love to see more consistency with freshness.

My favorite salads are the Grapevine and Duck Cranberry. For sides I recommend the potato salad and tomato basil bisque. The aioli they use is to die for -- can't hurt to get a side of it with any sandwich! The restaurant is situated on the corner of Park Blvd. and Polk Ave. (more generally, it's on the strip of Park Blvd. between University Ave. and El Cajon Blvd.). On the first visit, Zack provided exceptional care and attention while helping navigate food allergies. Zack took the time to carefully check ingredients, double-check preparations, and personally come back out to verify everything to ensure safety. That level of care made the experience feel genuinely welcoming and stress-free. The chicken sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and thoughtfully balanced. Juicy chicken, ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado, and a bright splash of oil and vinegar came together beautifully on Big Front Door's roll, which had a great texture and held everything together well. The flavors were clean and vibrant. A little extra salt would have pushed it over the top for a salt-lover, but that came down to personal preference rather than any shortcoming. A dining companion ordered the avocado sandwich and could not stop raving about it, praising both the flavor and the freshness. The outdoor seating area deserves special mention. The shaded space was perfect as I do have sun allergies, especially for anyone who prefers relief from direct sun. The care taken in food preparation added an extra layer of comfort and trust. The second visit somehow raised the bar even higher. Micah went above and beyond to accommodate physical ability needs with patience, attentiveness, and genuine kindness. That effort did not go unnoticed and made the experience feel deeply respectful and inclusive. The roasted chicken sandwich ordered on the second visit was phenomenal. The roasted chicken was tender, savory, and full of depth, elevating the sandwich even further. Adding a bit of extra salt brought all the ingredients into perfect harmony, making every bite more satisfying than the last. This sandwich has officially earned a spot as a new favorite sandwich. Big Front Door was amazing not just for delicious, thoughtfully prepared food, but for the people who work there. Zack and Micah created an environment where care, kindness, and respect were clearly prioritized. No moment felt rushed, dismissive, or uncomfortable. At no point did anyone make the experience feel like a burden or inconvenience. A sincere thank-you also goes to the team members who prepared the food. Even without knowing names, the care taken to keep guests safer while serving delicious nourishment was evident and deeply appreciated. Big Front Door comes highly recommended for the flavorful sandwiches, the shaded outdoor space, the welcoming atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and the genuine kindness shown at every action.

At this point, I dont really care about how the food tastes. Lol! Let's start off with the one problem i had with this place. The parking!!! It took me 20m to find parking and im not about to park my car on the street. I have precious dogs! Lol kidding. I just couldn't find any parking on the street or in the block! I suppose i came during lunch which is probably really busy. When I left, there were quite a few opened parking spots. This place is connected to an apartment complex surrounding retail stores. The leasing building is right next to Gravity Heights. I used to rent a 4k+ a month apartment in a retail area and let me tell you, its a hassle to find parking and not take a retail parking spot without having your complex email you everyday about your car potentially being towed lol! I understand this pain. Now that we are past that, let's get to why this place deserves 5 stars. The service is excellent! My server came around at the perfect times and they seem to really care if I enjoyed my meal! The stellar atmosphere with attentive service is enough for me! I got a gravity burger protein style which I dont think did the burger justice. I was going to eat with my husband later at a Vietnamese restaurant and I can only choose one carb for the day. My diabetic life is tough! Lol. I chose the Cesar salad to go with my burger. My burger was delicious bc of the caramelized onions. I didn't really taste a sauce in the burger but the excellent bacon with the much needed caramelized onions made the burger fantastic! The IPA hazy beer i had with my meal was also light and mellow. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and meal. My babies also enjoyed their burger! The weather was perfect today and it was a nice time and to think I was not going to eat here bc the parking definitely was a huge deterrent. Next time ill bring human company!

You let a group of 12 walk in front of us and they crowded the bar in right front of us, but you didn't say a word. 5 minutes before this, you told us that corporate didn't allow people to drink at the bar without a seat, but you allowed them to do as they pleased and you stopped our group? Was it because my friends were Asian? Or was it because we said we had children coming to join us? Even the bartender realized you were crazy and sat our group of 11. We spent over $1000, but apparently we weren't good enough for the hostess. I hope the owner reads this and fires that bimbo. I'm sure you have plenty of cameras and can talk to the rest of the employees to hear what happened. She was the only rude person we encountered. Food was amazing. The shrimp ceviche had a lot of flavor, a generous amount of shrimp, and the perfect amount of kick. The pepperoni pizza was epic and from the way the pepperonis were cupped, you could tell it was a really hot oven which is ideal. My kids loved the cheeseburgers, and I really enjoyed the chicken tacos. Every drink looks to be handcrafted, and I thought the margaritas were delicious. 5 stars if it wasn't for the hostess.
