We just stayed two wonderful nights in Derry at the Maldron Hotel. After a day of walking up and down the steep city walls and winding streets, we found the comfortable beds and lush bedding in our hotel room to be a welcome respite. The Maldron is at the top of a hill and the view of the Bogside of Derry is incredible. Located within the city walls, the hotel provides ready access to countless pubs and restaurants, the Guldhall, the Peace Bridge, and local tours.
There were three employees who made our stay especially nice. Caoimhe and Shannon at the front desk not only greeted us as we came and went, but they helped us solve some transportation problems, answered all of our questions, stored and helped us carry our luggage, and even tracked us down to return an item we had lost. They accomplished all this with a fine sense of humor and articulate and friendly communications. Having a wonderful front desk staff makes SUCH a positive difference at a hotel!!
I would be remiss not to mention another young lady who went out of her way for us. Maia, who is part of the restaurant staff, not only excelled in the dining room but also checked on our needs while we were in the lobby, and was particularly kind to my husband and me. We appreciated her.
Would we stay there again? Absolutely! The beds are comfortable, the location is excellent, and they hire great people like Shannon, Maia, and Caoimhe. read more
