Great films and grown ups as the audience. I wish there were more food options but otherwise, it's great.

I've been here several times and only realized today I hadn't reviewed this location. It's tucked into the back of Ridgeway loop, which makes it easier for some to miss. Ample parking which is a plus. I love that Malco allows pre-selection of seats when purchased online. This is great if you're running late. I walked up to kiosk and retrieved my ticket. I ordered food and moved right into the theater. Smaller than other locations but had a really great layout that I love. They often show more indie, limited release and international films at this location along with big box office movies. Generally a clean and quiet location which ensures a good movie experience. I love the recliner seats at the other malco theaters. However, the rocker seats here are still comfortable. read more

Our movie was surprisingly well attended for a Monday. But we didn't feel crowded in any way. The seats & AC were welcoming & comfortable. What was strange was upon a request for popcorn salt, we waited while an associate said she'd be right back, then headed for an employee's only area, then reappeared with a small serving cup with about a tablespoon of table salt. Seriously? I understand that dealing with the public in our modern pandemic era presents challenges, but table salt? Fortunately the popcorn had a nearly sufficient amount of seasoning, so we used only a tiny bit. But this was strange. Everyone was very kind & helpful, public spaces were neat & clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the movie! We'll look forward to our next visit. read more

Ridgeway Cinema Grill is a lovely way to enjoy a cozy evening out. They place mainstream movies, as well as more unique movies / documentaries. They have a full service menu & bar. The theatre is clean. The staff is friendly. Once your order you receive a number and they bring your food to you - talk about awesome service. Pricing is fair, for a movie theatre. Ridgeway Cinema Grille, Yelp. It's been renamed! Those aren't the only updates. New seats, including loveseats with flippable arms, updated touchless restrooms, upgraded food and booze menu and more entice the middle aged moviegoers of East Memphis and Germantown back into the theater. If you don't want to stop for dinner on the way to your movie, it's okay. They have the best fish & chips! Pizzas from Ciao Bella with a sour chewy crust, beer and wine, and lots of the usual movie favorites, too. The hummus is touch-and-go, sometimes entirely too garlicky, so be warned. Please don't tell anyone about this place. This is where you go to see Indie films and guaranteed Oscar nominees play. You won't always leave laughing, but you will be comfy and relaxed when you leave! Rarely will you find teenagers in this place, so consider it a respite from all the ill-mannered kids, though the 60-year-olds are just as bad about leaving their phones on and Facebooking mid-movie as the kids are! read more

For years, the Ridgeway Four has been the place to go to see the smaller, independent movies, foreign films and documentaries that aren't likely to play anywhere else in town. It's one of the city's stealthiest theaters, set back on a corporate street, blending in with the office buildings. And for years, it's been sort of the dive bar equivallent of a movie theater - quirky and beloved, but in need of some repair. I'm happy to report that the Ridgeway Four is getting those repairs. In the past, the Four's theaters had a bizarre bowl-shaped seating arrangement where the seats in the middle of the room were set lower than the ones in the front and the back. There were no fancy cupholder arm rests. As a part of the upgrades, the theaters are being upgraded. The new stadium seating set up means fewer chairs that are way more comfortable. The new chairs are deep and recliner cozy, and they've got cup holders and huge arm rests that mean the end of arm rest wars with strangers. The huge arm rests also serve as little tables for the theater's new menu. In the past, getting food for a movie at the Ridgeway Four meant skipping the concession stand and sneaking in some gas station sushi. Now, the theater has a menu of fresh Italian food from Ciao Bella. The menu has pizzas, pasta and appetizers, and just about everything on it is less than $10. In true art house fashion, the Ridgeway Four now has a decent selection of beer and wine that you can take into the theater. If you're one of those people who's completely terrified of change, don't worry - the Ridgeway Four's film selection is staying the same (if anything, they're more commited than ever to showing films you won't find anywhere else in town). My favorite movie theater in Memphis. They show intelligent films. The crowds are more mature. The food is excellent (you can butter your own popcorn - as much as you want). The outside doesn't really look like a movie theater (so it is less likely to be overcrowded). Love the retro Malco lighting and the old movie star collage (it's been there since the 1980's). One review stated that the chairs are too large. I would also like to complain they are much too comfortable. The wide arms rests and cup holders are too convenient for me as well. All kidding aside, this is your best bet for a great movie experience in Memphis. read more

It's the nicest cinema in town in terms of comfort and amenities. They don't have the electric reclining chairs as the really nice theatres in some cities have. And you can't reserve a specific seat as I've seen in some places, BUT the seats here are large and very comfortable, and there is plenty of space between the rows. The grill has a pretty decent selection of food. It's in a very nice commercial part of East Memphis. Parking is plentiful and easy. read more

The Ridgeway Four is my favorite movie theatre in Memphis. They've renovated the entire building: new theatres, seats, bathrooms, etc., and it looks fantastic. The new seats are like leather recliners. They allow plenty of leg space and space between the person you're seated next to, which is a major plus. I hate feeling like I'm on a date with a stranger. But the best part of the Ridgeway Four is that they offer movies that aren't available all over town. If it's Oscar, Spirit or Sundance-nomiated, you can guarantee it'll be playing there. I love this theatre! The seats are super comfy now, way bigger seats than any other theatre in the Memphis area. They definitely cater to adults with offbeat tastes. They don't show the most popular films here, and none of them are particularly kid-friendly. It's a movie theatre for grown-ups. Even the food is a little different, with them offering the usual popcorn and candy, but also offering food like pizza and fish and chips. There's even a little table by your seat for your food, so you're not left trying to balance your food in your lap (and in the dark). The screens have been upgraded, too. The picture quality is outstanding, just as good as any of the newer theatres Malco owns. All this makes for a great experience! read more

I got lost on my way to this theater because it looks like the surrounding office buildings! Hint: look for the office building with movie posters outside of it. This theater is sort of a mix between indie and mainstream, in film selection as well as food offerings. They serve beer, wine, and meal-ish snacks like spanakopita and cheese plates along with typical moviegoing fare. I've been meaning to catch a film here since they remolded the theater and the theater did not disappoint. Big comfy seats are one of the standout items at this theater and really helps set it apart from others in the area. The food and drink selection is really good compared to your typical movie theater fare. Adult beverage selections range from import and local beers to a small selection of wines. Food options include the usual popcorn, nachos and candy, but they take it up a notch here and offer the likes of fish and chips, hamburgers and pizza that they cook fresh and deliver to your seat in the theater. The only drawback is that is the limited selection of movies shown. They typically feature limited release, indie, artsy, and local releases; so don't expect to find your favorite big budget summer action flick showing here. The upside to this is that it weeds out most of the under twenty crowd that can't seem to go five minutes during a movie without talking or staring at their phone. read more

I was amazed that this place has been here the whole time I've been in Memphis, yet I am just now hearing about it! Upon entering, you are treated to the main area with many tables and comfy couches for your pleasure. The selection of food that they have is varied. I ended up ordering the Hamburger and Fries, as well as the Loaded French Fries. The loaded fries come with bits of bacon, cheese, and tomato dices. I rather liked the loaded fries. The hamburger is not too bad, as well. The seats in the theater are amazing! They are very comfy, and are able to be leaned back on. Don't worry, there is plenty of legroom for everyone! The theater is designed so that the seats are paired off. It is a great place to take a date, or for some casual viewing, of the more independent-type movies. The screen they used is modern and in high-definition. You owe it to try this place out! read more

I think the place is pretty cool but in my opinion the food selection and prices are out of pocket for many individuals. I volunteer at this location with two non-profit organizations so really do not get to see many movies at this location. Ridgeway Four, rather than Studio on the Square, is what I would call the "arthouse" theater in Memphis. I've seen Silver Linings Playbook, Anna Karenina, and the Atlas Shrugged movies here, mainly because they weren't playing anywhere else. That being said, this kind of a weird location and building for a movie theater. It looks like a 1970's office building from the outside, and the cramped, dated restrooms look like a college dorm from that same era. The employees are the usual sullen bunch that seem be Malco-standard. The theaters kind of puzzle me. I can appreciate the large, spacious seats (no flip-down seats here), but they seem a little ridiculously huge, and there is something off about the size of the screen in relation to the distance of the seats that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe I'm just used to the stadium-style seats at other theaters, but I feel simultaneously too far back and too low, and just plain a little odd. So while I'm sure I'll keep coming here occasionally for certain movies, this will never be my favorite theater. read more

I kind of panicked when I moved here -- where I moved from, I was near a town that gave me access to a slew of great foreign and independent films. Thankfully, I came across this theater when browsing Yelp a while ago, and I've been able to happily view some non-mainstream flicks in a nice, clean, non-sticky floor environment. This place is just as comfortable as the Paradiso without being quite as pretty. I saw the Silver Linings Playbook movie here with some friends and we were really impressed with the seats. They are plush and comfortable and we felt like we'd been transported to fancy-town. The only down-sides are that it's out of the way and they don't show as many movies as other theaters. read more

Don't let the outside of this place fool you! My parents came into town and we wanted to see a movie that was playing at the Ridgeway Cinema. I have passed this place a million times on my way to the Hilton Ridgeway, but to be quite honest, I've never seen the building and I couldn't even tell you where it is. What? There's a movie theater next to the Hilton? What??? And a nice one, too! We walked in and there was NO LINE. Check. The person who gave us our tickets was really friendly. Check! Then when we walked in and saw the big leather chairs with nice armrests, cup holders, we were amazed. Check!! On top of that, this was by far the cleanest movie theater I've ever been to and I didn't have to worry about my shoe sticking to the floor. Check Check Check!!! I just got a soda, but I'm a bit of a wine snob and their selection wasn't half bad! I so wish this place was in downtown Memphis so I wouldn't have to travel so far, but I can assure you I will be back and recommending this place to anyone looking to see a movie. read more

I went and saw the newest Mission Impossible movie here and honestly I kept asking myself why I hadn't been there before. It's sort of hidden on Ridgeway...don't ask me specifics. I'm directionally challenged! Thank goodness for GPS. It's in an office park type complex and doesn't look like a movie theatre at all. After you buy a ticket, there's a concession stand. You can get your standard concessions OR they have the grill menu there as well. Pretty standard...hamburger, salad, wings, pizza, etc. You get a number and tell them what movie you'll be seeing. There's four screens only here. The seats are AMAZING. Big, plush leather chairs. When your food is ready they bring it in to you. My ONLY complaint is that there were no tables to eat off of. But I will say, the food was better than I thought it would be. It's definitely an enjoyable experience. It's a theater that tends to mix it up with indies and blockbuster movies. This used to be a great movie watching venue. Tried to go to a movie there today after buying the tickets the day prior. The theater was overrun with people, clearly the staff could NOT handle the volume of people. The kiosks which should allow those who've pre-purchased to check in quickly were out of order. The theater was oversold, smelled bad and the staff was completely incompetent. Won't be back. Seems that one has to get out of town to find a truly excellent movie watching experience! read more

I looooooove this place! This is how movies should be seen. With great food, wine, comfy large seats...I almost feel like I'm at home...which is actually where I prefer to watch most movies. I know, I know, there is something magical about going to a theatre and having that movie experience with strangers...which is exactly why I like this place so much (best of both worlds, if you will). The food is actually REALLY good and did I mention the wine? Plus I love the crowd (a result of the indie movies shown)...you don't really see kids or teenagers...mostly old ladies and intellectuals. When I was young, this theater was completely happening. The neighborhood had a ton of action, so dinner and a movie at the Ridgeway Four was a no brainer. However, now that I'm a zip codely challenged midtowner, I've avoided the Ridgeway Four for yeeeeaaars. Before the shopping center was built on Poplar, there was a really, really ghetto apartment complex and an undesirable element present (not the car) - in my opinion. I just had zero desire to make a night out in that area. At the mere suggestion, I'd grimace like a two year old being forced to eat their vegetables. Enter Wes Anderson's new film, "Moonrise Kingdom." The closest place it was showing was Ridgeway Four. Huummph. Well, I fought through my defiance and went to see the movie. Holy comfortable seats and leg room, Batman! As my super awesome hair stylist, Grace, said, "Ridgeway Four is how grown ups watch movies at the theater." There are large leather seats in pairs. The seats have wide arm rests, so you no longer have to fight to rest your elbow on the arm rest. Additionally, there's a little (itty bitty) table between pairs of chairs. And the leg room!!! Oh my gosh. I'm 5'10" and can stretch my legs out straight in front of me, while sitting in the seats at Ridgeway Four. Do you know how long it's been since I've been able to do that in a movie theater? Well, neither do I, but I think it was around when I was 10 years old. It's probably been the same length of time I didn't have to watch a move with someone intermittently kicking the back of my seat. I used to be a die hard Studio on the Square fan. Note, "used to be." I will, now, gladly trek out of my zip code to watch movies at Ridgeway Four. Trust me, if you do the same, you will not be disappointed. You're welcome. read more

One of the best movie theaters for adults. They don't have as many showings but they have enough. You can purchase wine and beer at the cashier and the fella that poured my father in laws Chimay, poured PERFECT!! That's impressive because some bartenders at RESTAURANTS can't even do that! The chairs inside the cinema are more comfortable than the ones I have at home. Not too comfortable to where you would go to sleep, but they are definitely nice quality and they also recline. They have a nice cup holder and the arm area is almost big enough to hold your plate. I noticed a few people with those table number pins to be located inside and although I didn't taste the food because we had recently ate a Babalu I will definitely just make this a one stop shop next time because that food looked really good! Hasn't been in years so enjoyed the comfortable seats and distance between the seats in front and behind me.(No more obnoxious seat kicking) I did find it odd to see employees bringing customers full meals into the theatre, though. A grown up place for grown up movies. The Hollywood blockbusters end up @ Paradiso or the suburbia multiplexes, but this grill & 4 screen theater is a nice place to see Oscar contending films and serious critically acclaimed stuff. The seats are comfortable and the snacks range from your popcorn and soda to wines and gourmet fare. Get away from the teeny boppers for a night of good quality stuff. read more

This is my first visit here (guess I'm not an Indie movie aficionado). As I entered I asked where to pick up my Fandango tickets I purchased online. They seemed confused, but quickly brought up my tickets. I was impressed with the array of wine and beer and food. Since we had eaten we purchased a $5 coke and meandered to the comfy recliners with wide armrests. Very nice and a good incentive for a return visit. read more
