We saw Sinners and the actors really poured their hearts out, but the storyline kept me guessing more than a riddle in a puzzle box. Those plush seats felt like eating marshmallows, although my soda nearly took a dive when that cupholder wobbled. The screen was ginormous and crystal clear, but every time the bass hit it sounded like someone threw pebbles at a tin can. I bought a tub of popcorn that smelled like butter paradise, but whoa it was so salty i thought i'd turn into a pretzel myself. The crew seemed friendly enough, but they lollygagged at the ticket kiosk like time was on vacation and we almost missed the opening scene. They rammed us with trailer after trailer until i felt like i'd lived a hundred action movies in a single sitting. Despite all that, it was a riot of a night and i can't wait to go back--next time i'll show up early to bask in those neon vibes without the rush.

You now have to choose your exact seat and since these are much larger than the old seats, there are far fewer seats in each theater (ticket costs have been adjusted accordingly). This has necessitated buying on line once to avoid having to sit in the first couple rows - which will have you looking way up at the screen, straining your neck. For new/popular movies I'd recommend at least starting the process of being tickets on-line, which will all you to see what the current availability is. Arrived at 6:55 for a 7:15 movie and there was a line out the door for people trying to enter the theatre due to there only being one ticket taker that seemed very confused with how to handle tickets. I headed to the concession line for food which was confusing since all the lines ran together and people were constantly getting in the wrong line but no employees attempted to help direct. I ordered nachos and they were apparently serving people cold cheese which they didn't disclose until after it was bought and given to you. At that point i only had a few minutes until my movie and the ticket line was still at the door so I dealt with the cold food and got in line. The theatre itself was fine minus the chairs obviously having seen better days. The parking lot as I left was a mess as there was only one way in and out causing a backup in both directions. I probably would not bother with this theatre again while in town as the whole experience was more stressful than enjoyable.

But when we handed our movie passes, cast member Tiffany held each one up in the air as if inspecting a $20 bill, then called for a manager on her walkie without saying anything. We stood there confused, and when I asked if there was a problem, she said, "We're about to see." We stepped aside so we wouldn't hold up the line and watched other guests be warmly greeted and helped. The manager came, asked a question or two, and told her to check us out, but Tiffany didn't. She continued helping others while we stood there waiting respectfully, not trying to cause a scene, feeling embarrassed as people looked at us, wondering what was going on. It wasn't until my husband spoke up that she finally helped us. The delay wasn't the issue. It was the lack of communication and the way we were made to feel. We were treated with suspicion rather than respect, as though we had done something wrong. Customer service isn't just about selling tickets. It's about treating people with dignity, explaining what's happening, and showing basic kindness. You never know what someone may be going through.

I did not try the service, but the sign said you could even have hot food delivered to your seat right in the theater. I don't often go to the movie theater, but when I do, I'll make sure to return to the Malco DeSoto cinema.
