This was held at the Evergreen Theater in Midtown.
Cazateatro Presents Navidad Spectacular
This was so much fun, and I learned a lot! The play was about the holiday, of course, but also how Christmas is celebrated in several different Latin American countries.
The Evergreen Theater is located on Poplar, across from India Palace restaurant. The theater is small, but clean and cozy.
side note: restrooms passed, very clean
The musical was awesome! It was very lively, and everyone seemed to have fun. The musical was mainly in Spanish, but it fit really well, and there were parts and explanations in English here and there. I liked that both languages were intertwined and it made no one feel alienated. Even if you didn't know the words, the actors did well and you could put two and two together with a lot of the stories. My Spanish luckily isn't that far out of tune, so I understood more of it than I thought I would.
I thought the origin stories for the piñata and poinsettia were neat. The piñata was originally a symbol of destroying your sins, with the seven points representing the seven deadly sins, and the poinsettia referring to a lesson that any gift given with love will always be acceptable to Him.
I'll give this one a rating: Christmas in many lights. Holidays are all about traditions and coming together. It's always important to embrace both our similarities and differences, but also to let someone else's stories have their time in the light. Definitely recommend this one read more
