Food 4/5 DIY concept. You picked your ingredients and choice of soup base. They will cook it and bring it out. Awesome hotpot choice Service 3/5 fast and efficient Ambiance 4/5 a lot of tables. Came in Friday night, got seated right away

After hearing great things and seeing such rave reviews, I was excited to try Mala Town. Unfortunately I found it to be rather disappointing. Let's start with the pros. There's a decent selection of ingredients, everything was well laid out and clean. It's a fun DIY hotpot concept, upon entering just grab a bowl and tongs and fill it up with your desired ingredients. At the checkout counter, weigh the ingredients and choose your broth. It's a nice alternative to AYCE hot pot, especially for those who don't eat that much. Service is minimal as it's primarily DIY, but they were friendly enough and efficient. They cook the food and bring it out to your table. The ingredients were good and I enjoyed the complimentary jasmine tea. The biggest con for me was the broth itself. The broth is really the focal point of hot pot and it can make or break the meal. I got the mild beef bone broth and found it to be very heavy and overly salty. It was creamy which I didn't expect or particularly enjoy. It was also very orange-looking for beef broth. I thought maybe they gave me tom yum by mistake but it didn't taste like tom yum. In addition, it was pretty spicy for a mild broth. I don't think it tasted terrible, it just wasn't to my liking. Too heavy and salty. My partner got the medium dry pot mix and it was also not what either of us expected. All of the ingredients were cooked and then a sesame and peanut sauce mix was just poured over the top, not mixed in at all and did not have the flavor of a dry pot. We expected it to taste a bit more like a stir fry. The sauce poured over the top was very thick and super salty, making it a goopy mess. It was very spicy but lacked flavor, not good at all. After we left I looked at pictures from other reviewers and the dry pot we got looks very different from what others have gotten at this same place. I don't know why it was so different? Overall I liked the concept and fresh ingredients. I'd like to try malatang again but probably somewhere else.

SOO GOOD!! I loaded my bowl up, they had great options compared to other malatang places, and they even had scallops! The beef slices were tender, the broths were delicious, and the sauce bar was perfect with all the best sauces. The worker was very friendly, and they checked up on us. Also, the complimentary tea was sooo good. It was just the right enough amount of sugar. The restaurant is clean, organized, and they buss the tables quickly after guests leave.

What I liked most about this place is that they cater to vegetarians. I came here on Sunday with my friends and we all enjoyed our hotpots. The service was friendly and they were eager to please. The complementary tea was a bit sweet but it was nice to have a cool drink on such a very hot day. The hotpot was healthy and delicious, I was able to find exactly what I wanted and the environment was so friendly that it makes me want to return.

Parking: located in a strip mall with parking lot in front of restaurant Service: cafeteria style to fill bowl with choice of meats, veg, and starches. You then pay at the cashier and choose your sauce or soup flavor. Staff was friendly and cleaned our table before assigning us. Ambiance: casual Food: Got the savory dry mix, but tried a bit of my parties soups and everything was solid. A great comfort meal post EDC

I loveeee Mala Town!!! Their 50% off promo was very dangerous for me... HAHA As you line up to select what you'd like to be in your bowl, you'll choose what soup base you'd like at the counter as it gets weighed, and once you are seated, there is a bar for you to create your own sauce next to complimentary water and tea. I like the set up of the restaurant! Not only is the food delicious (I personally love the Mild Signature Beef Bone Broth but also have been getting the Sweet & Sour Tomato), the service is always great, and during the super busy times, seating can become limited, but I would say that seating is usually available. Parking may become sparse because of the lot it is in alongside other hotspots in the plaza.

Come to Mala Town now for discount! Mala town has been my go to spot for amazing hot pot that is fully customizable. I love getting the tomato soup base because it is so sweet and tangy that pairs well with a lot of the vegetable toppings. Service is quick, as you pick and grab your toppings then take it to the counter. They have a sauce bar where you can get your spice fixing from chili oil, garlic, chili flakes, etc. Limited time they are offering 50% off every Tuesday and Wednesday!

All over tik tok I see ppl go to build your own hot pot. Cant lie I got severe fomo so I NEEDED to try at least once in my life and I pleasantly had driven to this place. Me and some friends were a lil bit confused on what to do at first as there is nowhere in AZ where we can build our own hot pot but Paul was so kind and showed us how the hot pot process works . We were given a bowl and began loading up. We were told most ppl get 1.5 lbs typically. The bowls are priced via weight with that being $15.99/lb. Yeah I love this. I was so excited I was grab happy and ended up with 2.8lbs regardless I was happy. Everyone I was with all got different broths one being the Szechuan and another being Bone broth. Both were so delicious. We were assigned a table the cooked our hot pot in the back and was brought to our table. My brother unfortunately had been grab crazy and got 5lbs but even after we finished all our food he was happy he could take it home and keep eating. (Mind you we still had to drive to AZ by the time we got back ME AND MY FRIEND DEVOUREDDDDD EVERY SINGLE BUT THAT WAS LEFT). I think me saying I love this place is an understatement I LIVE LAUGH LOVE ESPECIALLY ADORE MALA TOWN The staff members were all so kind and funny. Paul for sure made our experience the best. We told him we come to Vegas often and now this will be our go to. So thank you Mala town for the amazing food and hospitality. a huge thank you from my belly cuz now I craveeeeee mala town. YYAYAYAYAYAYA I LOVE MALA TOWN

This was such a chill and easy place to get Malatang! They had a variety of options for you to include in your Malatang which I liked. The service was quite friendly too, giving us complimentary drinks. The Malatang itself was filling and tasty, especially with their various options. I enjoyed the meat and cheese balls I had in mine. I'd recommend for any Malatang cravings.

Very clean and so much fun to select from buffet style ingredients station. Also I loved the selection of different types of broth. Customer service was very helpful and polite. They explain how to make it taste as you like. You don't need to be shy, just ask them, and they will help you . Old building but they keep very clean and spacious. Only problem is very hard to get the parking lot. Space is limited. So be prepared for that.

Craving soup and found this gem that offers so many options and best of all you choose your ingredients that you want in your soup. The flavors of all different soup base are very delicious. I got the Tom Yum and had all the flavor you need to pair with any protein and vegetables. Everything in the soup building station looks clean and fresh. When we got to the cashier, she helped us with any questions and also helped us with making a decision with our soup base. Jasmine was at the cashier and she was very helpful and friendly and made the experience at Mala Town so much better and welcoming! Can't wait to be back!!!

Ask the Community - Mala Town

Is there gluten free options?

Are there VEGGIE Broth options?

Yes. They have a tomato broth option which is sweet I believe.

As someone with a severe shellfish allergy, is there any shellfish mixed into the broth choices?

Hi, We cook each bowl with separate pot and for the broth , no shellfish mixed. Thanks

Do you have to pay for the other ingredients or you only have to pay 15$ only?

It’s weight by pound. 14.99/ibs for all ingredients

Do you have to select type of noodles and are the noodles weighed too?

You select for a wide variety of different toppings, veggies, proteins, and noodles before everything is weighed together. Then you select your broth and enjoy. You can even order rice on the side if you prefer that instead of noodles.

Do they offer rice?

Yes: they do

The restaurant…read morelooked really nice, and my son had been craving shabu-shabu, so I thought it would be a great place to take him after one of his birthday activities. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a nice birthday lunch turned into a pretty disappointing experience. We visited on October 12, Columbus Day, and I specifically checked their website beforehand, which states last seating is at 2:30 PM and last call for food is at 3 PM (picture attached). We arrived at 2:20 PM, but instead of being welcomed, the first thing the host/server said was, "Just so you know, last call is in 10 minutes," followed by, "And it's only all you can eat." It immediately felt like he was trying to discourage us from dining there. He handed us a menu showing only the meat selections, with no sides listed, and immediately asked which set we wanted without explaining anything. Since my son doesn't eat meat, I had to ask if they offered tofu before we settled on the Basic Wagyu Set since we apparently only had 8 minutes to order. And yes, I know paying for Wagyu for someone who doesn't eat meat might seem like a waste, but as long as there were options he'd enjoy, like tofu, noodles, and ice cream, I didn't mind. We came for the ambiance and experience, especially for his birthday, and I was happy to pay for that. Unfortunately, the service was already disappointing. I asked to order from the tablet so I could actually see the options, but felt pressured to select everything within those few minutes because of the 2:30 PM deadline he gave us. What really irritated me was that around 2:40 PM, I watched the same waiter approach the table next to us and ask if they wanted to order anything else because it was last call. Seriously? We were rushed through our entire order, yet another table that had already been there was given additional time? Especially when their website clearly states last call is at 3 PM. Throughout our meal, he barely checked on us other than refilling our water once, refilling out broth, and closing out our bill. He never asked how we were doing or whether we needed anything else. Thankfully, the food runner was incredibly kind and accommodating. When I asked him if he'd wait to bring out our ice cream that I was about to order before 2:30pm, he told me I could simply let him know when we were ready for him to bring it out so it doesn't just sit and melt. He seemed a bit surprised at the last call deadline our server gave us as well. His kindness was honestly the highlight of the service. I really wish he was the server rather than that other guy. As for the food, the Wagyu brisket and chuck ribeye were tasty and melted in my mouth. My son really enjoyed the ube ice cream and the tofu. We also tried items like shrimp tempura, Wagyu curry rice, ramen, tofu, and fried buns, but most of the sides were pretty average. For approximately $40 per person ($45 without membership), I found the overall selection underwhelming. Personally, I'd rather spend my money at Chubby Cattle or another restaurant with more variety. Our dining experience lasted approximately 45 minutes, and our total came out to $72.38 after my Chubby Plus membership discount, tax, and $14.40 gratuity. Despite the disappointing service, I still tipped over 20% of the original subtotal. Honestly, I wish that tip could have gone directly to the food runner instead. I understand restaurants have closing times, but if customers arriving at 2:20 PM are going to be made to feel rushed or unwelcome, maybe they should change their last seating to 2 PM instead of advertising 2:30 PM. Otherwise, management and staff need better communication about their policies. My phone was dying, so I couldn't pull up the website to address the discrepancy at the time, but customers shouldn't have to question posted hours to receive the experience they're paying for. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of the wonderful food runner. I had high hopes for this place, but the service overshadowed what should have been a nice birthday lunch. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

So that's what happened to us when we were supposed to try a popular Japanese BBQ spot nearby, but with a two hour wait, it would not work out for us. So, we fell in to this AYCE Hot Pot place which turned out to be an excellent surprise. Staff here from the host to the ones that take your orders and especially the food runners are very much on top of their game. Anything ordered from the kitchen came out within minutes. You are never without any meats to cook or sushi to eat. The self serve vegetable bar, sauce bar, and other accompaniments are up to you. Such a large variety of options. The hotpot burner is so fast, it reaches a boil quickly and you're on to preparing your creation of soup with noodles, seafood, vegetables, and meats that it's endless, or all you can handle. The restaurant provided a 2-sided pot and we chose tonkotsu and seafood broth. They have a buffet area, where you can grab from a huge variety of hotpot items - noodles - ramen, udon, many veggies, sauces, and best of all, seafood - crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, squid, and octopus. For the meats and sushi, we had to order it from our waitress and we could only order three meats at a time. They don't have a lot of of choices for meats, but we tried the pork belly and premium rib eye. We ended up just ordering more and more premium rib eye and no other meats. For sushi, we tried variations of salmon and yellowtail - plain, yuzu, truffle, and carpaccio. The sushi was good, but not exceptional. They don't offer sashimi so nigiri was the best they could do. Sometimes it was too much rice. We tried the lemon salmon roll, salmon roll, and yellowtail roll. They were all good, but not outstanding. We tried the bulgogi and spicy garlic edamame, which were okay. For dessert, we had little ice cream cups, which were good. Service was good. Sometimes it took awhile to find our waitress to order, however, the staff was very quick to remove used plates from the table. Probably the fastest I have ever seen at an AYCE restaurant. The restaurant was large with many tables. Very good hot pot experience at Nabe Hotpot.
