From what we experienced, there are no stalls selling fresh vegetables; almost all vendors sell handicrafts -- some beautifully made, but not what we were looking for! We did find one fruit vendor. They had shrimp summer rolls ($8), which were ok, but served with an icky, syrupy condiment. (We were overcharged for $10. Don't care about pricing so much as honesty.) The same fruit vendor (found on the ocean side of the market) had white and pink guava, mountain apple, starfruit, dragon fruit, and rambutan on our July visit. Most fruit is $5 for a small, plastic box; rambutans were a jaw dropping $1 a piece. Staff cut fruit to order and serve it with li hing salt. (I find it lovely; Pardner thinks I'm poisoning him when I give him li hing to try.) In the area, the Waikiki Market does have local produce like guava, papaya and pineapple. I suspect Waikiki Market is overpriced as well, but no more than anything else in this tourist trap of a neighborhood!

There was one prepared food vendor and one extra art vendor so not a whole lot to explore. There's a nearby playground where it's focused for the bigger kids since it's mostly climbing focused. The marketplace where this is located, if you aren't familiar, is filled with many stores that sell food and even have a Safeway grocery store. Parking was relatively easy on a Sunday since there's a big parking lot.

Love this Manoa Farmers' Market in Manoa Marketplace as I needed a break from errands and thought that a quick drive up Manoa would be it and after a some lunch and visit to Fendu Boulangerie for a breakfast bite tomorrow I noticed some tents in front of the post office area. With what seems to just four vendors two are selling vegetables all are pre priced and packed making it very easy to browse and shop, there was an art seller and lastly was for some flowers at $5 for a small bunch it was just right for the butsudan and I just loved the lavender shade of anthurium. No veggies for me today though there were some that I wanted but had more errands to run but know that they're here and is a quick and easy place to find some fresh produce and veggies along with supporting local. It wasn't very well organized, there was no sense of community, and pray little number of vendors. And there was a good number of vendors who had their boxed up products there but their booths weren't manned or even set up at start time. Believing that they were just running on island time, I waited a good 20-30 minutes, but I ended up losing interest. I took a few laps really intent on making some purchases. I ended up getting some fruit to throw into my fridge at the hotel which always comes in clutch, but there wasn't much else that was exciting. Only drop by if you're staying at or near the Hyatt Regency, and lower any expectations that you may have of a farmers market.

I usually stop by on Saturday mornings and pick up my fresh mochi from Izu Mochi, waffles from aiwi waffle, green smoothie from Oma'o man truck, venison bone broth from Petfood Hawaii, and so much more and Vermilli makes such cute hawaiian printed suits and clothing. There is parking there or in the side streets. One of the best farmers markets on the island.

The Kaimuki Open Market could be categorized as a small niche of people bartering and selling among themselves, but why do it in the public eye? Not sure about that, but I guess it's the way it is here and buying among friends and family is like that, along with passers by who are also looking for a great deal as well. The overall experience here was definitely pleasant, but weird at the same time. I'd come back here more, if the farmer's market either at Kapiolani Community College did not have the stuff I need. The Kaimuki Open Market is neatly tucked away in the side streets of Kaimuki town, located on 12th Avenue across the street from the First Hawaiian Bank - Kaimuki branch. They usually operate on Saturdays, Is use you where I see them. Not sure if the do this open market on the week days, but I will be surprised if they do. If they do, it will probably during normal working hours. Usually cash will be king here, since I do not believe they take credit cards at all. Luckily there is a major bank next door or across the street, namely First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii. Parking can be plenty for all, if you use the municipal parking lot but you would have to pay money. There's always street parking nearby but there will be some walking involved to get here. Of course, there is no admission fee, so that's always a good thing. Sometimes I will see someone new in the neighborhood buying stuff from here and it's always gratifying to see familiar faces periodically on the weekends. While you won't find vendors that will cook up a tasting meal, you just find a small assortment of produce that is fresh and compatible with whatever you are cooking / preparing for the day or week. Take this opportunity to venture out in your comfort zone and come here, as the alternative to supermarkets, Costco, and other nearby localized farmer's markets in and around town. Since I do live nearby, I thought it would be a nice gesture to check things out here on a recent Saturday and hit up the Kapiolani Community College mega farmer's market later on. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to get what produce I needed for work and home, while being quite close to home really. I can shop here on the weekends and know that I can get the best price and deal for my hard-earned dollar, as well as seeking other deals for friends and family by shopping here. While Whole Foods and various supermarkets are are very much in the Vinicity, shopping here at the Kaimuki open market can be adventurous and be out of your comfort zone. Lots of options for parking either on the street (12th ave is closet but also kokohead ave or Waialae). There are 2 big parking lots (one is metered and one is gated) I would go to the gated one because it's free for less than 10 or 15mins but metered you need to put something in it. I stop by Chow's Seafood and Meat Market to buy Chinese fishcake which is one of the only stalls that sell it now. The stall. might not look like the most sterile place to shop but the fishcake is very good. The fishcake is a raw paste that you could use in any number of dishes. It sells for about $8 a pound but it stretches the budget and you get a lot of fishcake dumplings in one pound.

Located on Kekaulike Street - between King Street and Hotel Street - Kekaulike Market is one of the "go to" places for fresh produce and fresh meats and seafood. Today, I was looking for a pineapple for my mom, but, unfortunately, didn't find any. However, I did see items such as locally caught fish packed in ice, clean chicken feet in refrigerated cases, and tables full of colorful vegetables and fruits! The variety is overwhelming! There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. If not, the municipal parking lots have reasonable parking rates.
