I found Jackie through Instagram and was immediately drawn to her style. And after she did my makeup for my engagement photos, I knew she was it for my wedding day. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted leading up to my wedding, so we tried one look for my engagement photos and another look during my trial (which we ended up going with). She was super communicative throughout the process, answering my questions and navigating a last minute schedule change the weekend before our wedding. Near the end, I would text her to get her take on skincare, the hairpins I was picking, etc and she was always super helpful. She gave a ton of advice during my trial on prepping my skin and helped me feel confident the day of when I had a little breakout (which of course happens when you're stressed planning a wedding). She handled it all with calm and poise, and even left me with a little touch up kit. It ended up raining on the day, so I did my first look and walked down the aisle to some drizzle. But despite that, my makeup stayed intact and I was able to party the night away.

She never once made me feel like I was being annoying or overstepping which, as a bride, means more than you know! And it wasn't just me. My entire bridal party was literally shouting from the rooftops about how beautiful Jackie made everyone look and, more importantly, feel. One of my MOHs told me this was the first time she had ever gotten her makeup done as part of a bridal party and didn't feel like she needed to go back and change or fix anything herself afterward. My other MOH was SO impressed, she told me she had never felt that beautiful before and received more compliments that night than she ever has in her life. Hearing that from the women closest to me made me even happier with my decision to have Jackie there. What really sets Jackie apart is her range. I personally wanted to look like myself, just more snatched, polished and elevated and she absolutely nailed it. But at the same time, she was able to create much more glamorous looks on other members of my bridal party and execute those just as beautifully. It is SO hard to find an artist who can do both and tailor their work to the individual person rather than giving everyone the same face. I've worked with makeup artists professionally for over 15 years through my career, so I know when someone truly has the knowledge, technical skill and creative eye -- and Jackie has all of that, plus what I can only describe as God-given talent. She knows how to work with different faces, skin tones, races, hair types, personal styles and needs and make each person look like the absolute best version of themselves. Jackie is truly talented in every sense of the word, but beyond that, she is the kind of person you WANT around you on your wedding day. I'm disappointed with how this booking & communicated was handled. I booked a makeup appointment…read moretwo weeks in advance and sent a $145 deposit, then needed to cancel less than 24 hours after booking. Before or after sending payment, I was never told the deposit was nonrefundable. I did not sign a contract, receive a cancellation policy, or book through a website where those terms were disclosed. When I asked if the deposit could be returned, I was told that she does not return deposits. I understand businesses can have cancellation policies, but I believe a nonrefundable deposit policy should be clearly communicated before payment is accepted. I explained that I was never made aware of that policy beforehand and asked if there could be any flexibility since I canceled so quickly and the appointment was still about two weeks away. I have not received a response. Instead multiple texts ignored. My issue is not that a business has rules around deposits. My issue is being held to a policy that was never disclosed to me before I paid. Clear communication and transparency around deposits should happen if a client sends money. If it's before or after details should be enclosed. That way no one waste time asking for something they already were disclosed! JUST TO CLARIFY: The $145 deposit was paid on August 12th and the photoshoot was scheduled for August 26th. That is two weeks, not one week. I have the photographer's booking information confirming the date. At this point, what concerns me even more is being given information that does not match the actual booking details. If a business is going to enforce a nonrefundable policy, I believe the facts surrounding the booking should at least be represented accurately. You also got two texts, not multiple. A professional company owner would reply back, not ignore and reply on yelp lying about dates. I'd also like to add that the reason I chose to leave this review is because instead of trying to resolve the issue with me as a customer, my messages were ultimately ignored. I was never told from the beginning that the $145 deposit was nonrefundable, and no written policy, agreement, or booking terms stating that were ever provided to me before I paid. If your business is centered around making women feel comfortable and beautiful, especially pregnant women and brides, I think professionalism, honesty, and communication should be a major part of that experience. Being difficult over an undisclosed policy and then choosing not to communicate further left a very negative impression. For anyone considering booking, I would strongly recommend getting every deposit, cancellation, and refund policy clearly in writing beforehand. The lack of transparency professionalism, honesty and communication are what concerned me most about this experience. I've never met a business owner who keeps your money and is dishonest about all details. Do what's right if you truly cared about your business and future client's.

Unfortunately, bridal showers tend to cater to one ethnicity versus others, and I could not get just any makeup artist. I looked through Denise's portfolio, got her contact information, and looked through her website for a few days. I eventually emailed her to possibly sign a contract. She was very sweet, always answered all of my questions and answered them in a very timely manner, and there were no hidden fees: the contract was very exact. For example, I would pay for parking fees, which is completely understandable. She only provided on-site service instead of a salon. And she could also provide other on-site services if requested beforehand. So, I put in a 50% deposit at the time of signing the contract, and requested a trial session around 4 months before the wedding. She was on-time for the trial session, took a few minutes to set-up, and was ready to go. The trial session calmed me down and I was very confident of her abilities for the wedding. She absolutely knew what to do to make me look beautiful. I paid the full amount of my balance a few weeks before the wedding. She received it without any issue when I mailed in the payment. The day of the wedding, she was on-time. As my hotel wasn't very easy to find, this meant that she gave herself ample time to find the hotel. That's what professionalism is all about. She had to do my maid-of-honor's hair and makeup, my hair and makeup, and my now-mother-in-law's hair. She did a great job on everyone, and everyone could not believe how beautiful I was at the wedding (I know it's almost like a back-handed comment...am I pretty ugly normally?). She even had a little backup kit for me to keep to help touch-up my makeup when necessary. The makeup did last for over 12 hours, with very little touch-up needed. If anything, the curl in my hair was almost gone by the 10th hour, which my bridesmaids were able to curl right back up. She was also super-patient with one of my friends, who had forgotten hairspray, and who asked to use hers. And she was super-patient with the videographer and photographer when they needed to get shots of me getting my makeup on. That sort of patience can be difficult to find. So, Denise deserves all the possible stars she can get. I have absolutely no complaints about her work, she was great to work with, and there were only high regard for her work. Then, Michelle was recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy I decided to go with her. Logistics - From the beginning, Michelle was very clear and professional when providing information regarding price and services (ie location, travel time, number of girls needing services/artists needed etc.) After I booked with her, it was very easy to communicate on my vision. She has glammed me up for family photos, graduation photos, weddings, and countless other special events, and she has never disappointed. Many of my events require me to be ready before sunrise, and she's met me at the crack of dawn more times than I can count--sometimes as early as 4:00 AM! Finding someone who is not only willing to do that but also brings such positive energy that early in the morning is priceless. Her studio is so cozy and welcoming that it honestly feels like you're hanging out with a good friend while getting pampered. The conversation always flows naturally, and the entire experience is relaxing and fun instead of rushed or stressful. I also love that she's collaborative. I'll usually bring inspiration photos, and she'll work with me to create a look that fits my style while offering her professional input. At my most recent appointment in April for a family wedding, my hair and makeup were finished between 4:00 and 6:00 AM. I then drove from the Rowland Heights area all the way to Las Vegas, spent the entire day and evening celebrating, and my hair and makeup still looked amazing by the end of the night. No touch-ups, no worrying--it held up beautifully through a very long day. Michelle is incredibly talented, dependable, and genuinely one of the sweetest people you'll meet.
