Literally the Best Escape Room Experience Ever! Okay... we're still talking about this days later…read more My family and I went to Nocturne Adventures not knowing what to expect, and WOW--this place blew our minds. It felt like we walked right into a full-blown horror movie. The vibe? Intense. The acting? On point. The storyline? Wild. And YES... you're actually being chased which somehow makes the puzzles feel even more real and urgent. Pure adrenaline from start to finish! But here's what really made it special: My mom is Deaf, and a lot of times she's left out of experiences like this (escape rooms can be SO fast-paced). I told her I'd interpret for her, but then one of the actors started signing in ASL. We were all stunned in the best way. It turned the night from fun to unforgettable. My mom felt seen and included, and we all got to experience it together. It's rare to find something this immersive and inclusive. Nocturne Adventures nailed it on every level. I can't believe all of this happens in their basement--it's truly next level. If you're even thinking about booking... just do it. You won't regret it. We thought we knew good escape rooms having visited a few impressive ones (and a few not so impressive ones) in Charlotte, but Xscape's Curse of the Mummy room put them all to shame! My husband's family lives in Valdese, just 20 minutes or so from this escape room, and when we were looking for something fun to do with his sister for her birthday, we decided to book at Xscape. They only have the one room right now but are working hard to open a second (involving diffusing a bomb, I'm told) in the coming months. The Curse of the Mummy room incorporates amazing props, immersive "scenery," and incredible technology. Seriously, it's the best room we've ever experienced, hands down. I don't want to give away too much, but will tell you that I'm still emptying sand out of my shoes a couple hours after escaping with just a few minutes to spare. ;)

Two adults hadn't done an escape room before and the others of us have done about 2-5 each. We had a blast! Our game master Nyles was exceptional - very informative and let us do our thing but provided clear hints when we asked for them. It was a great room for groups of 4+ people with multiple puzzles that could be worked on at one time (nonlinear). All 6 of us were engaged and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back to do the other 3 rooms!

Escapology Escape Rooms Charlotte has some strong points. The room themes are well-designed,…read moreimmersive, and visually interesting. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short compared to many other escape rooms we have played. My group has completed every escape room in Charlotte, along with numerous rooms in other states and several overseas, so we have a broad basis for comparison. One of the biggest issues was the size of the rooms. They felt cramped and crowded, and while the advertised capacity may be higher, the rooms seem best suited for two to four players at most. The puzzles were also frustrating at times. Many of the clues felt overly convoluted, and the room lacked a clear sense of progression. Rather than flowing naturally from one puzzle to the next, the challenges often felt disconnected and lacked cohesion. The game management also impacted our experience. We were told that the game masters were monitoring multiple rooms simultaneously, which appeared to contribute to delays. At one point, we successfully completed a piano-based puzzle multiple times, but nothing happened. After repeating it several times, a game master finally noticed and advanced the puzzle. Situations like this can be particularly frustrating when time is limited. Overall, Escapology Charlotte offers attractive themes and creative room designs, but the small room sizes, inconsistent puzzle flow, and game-master oversight issues detracted from the experience. With some refinements, it could be a much stronger escape room destination.

Best escape room we've ever been to and we've been to several throughout North Carolina!…read more The coolest thing about this escape room that's different than other ones we've played is that instead of working mostly out of one room, you work your way through several and the rooms are extremely immersive. There are things to push, pull, grab, slide, swing, and at the end, you actually get to slay the dragon! Unfortunately, there's only one room right now, but they're working on building a new one soon. I can't wait till more opens up. This one's unlike the others and I'm glad that it's closer to us than some of the other great ones we've experienced.
