Absolutely LOVE this escape room and the entire experience! I can't say enough good things... the owners are very personable and my husband and I enjoy talking to them every time we go. We've already played both rooms, but we will definitely be going back to play them again... and to take our kids to meet 'The Ripper'. They have put SO much thought and work into both rooms... it's hard to say which is my favorite bc they're both awesome rooms. Hands down in our top 3 and we've done hundreds of escape rooms. Literally the Best Escape Room Experience Ever! Okay... we're still talking about this days later. My family and I went to Nocturne Adventures not knowing what to expect, and WOW--this place blew our minds. It felt like we walked right into a full-blown horror movie. The vibe? Intense. The acting? On point. The storyline? Wild. And YES... you're actually being chased which somehow makes the puzzles feel even more real and urgent. Pure adrenaline from start to finish! But here's what really made it special: My mom is Deaf, and a lot of times she's left out of experiences like this (escape rooms can be SO fast-paced). I told her I'd interpret for her, but then one of the actors started signing in ASL. We were all stunned in the best way. It turned the night from fun to unforgettable. My mom felt seen and included, and we all got to experience it together. It's rare to find something this immersive and inclusive. Nocturne Adventures nailed it on every level. My family and I completed the Nevermore room and the Ripper room. Nevermore is perfect for escape room enthusiasts who are looking for a bit more from an escape room. The puzzles were creative, but still logical. It was very fun and a challenge for anyone, even those who have done plenty of escape rooms. 10/10 experience. The Ripper is for anyone looking for a scarier/more thrilling experience. It is intended for ADULTS. My family and me were very scared, but had a phenomenal time! I run the Charlotte Escape Room Enthusiasts Meetup group, and we went to visit Nocturne yesterday for their Ripper room and absolutely had a blast! I've personally done over 70 escape rooms and I can say with 100% confidence this place is a top notch. We were blown away by it. Everything from the theming to the feel and flow of the room to the live actors and even some nice little personal touches they include in there. Nocturne Adventures is an experience like none other. If you enjoy horror themed entertainment, with a twist - this establishment is for you. Out of the roughly 35ish games I have played, This one climbed to my number one spot, almost as soon as I walked in the lobby. I am a HUGE detail person, so the tiniest finishing touches I appreciate, and they left no stone unturned. Do not let the fact that this game is in a residential basement defer you - Nocturne Adventures oozes professionalism, from the minute you open the door. Their lobby is painted an inviting, yet creepy, textured dark green with awesome black trim work. Their décor is creepy, and their lighted sign is hand made by one of the owners - talk about talent. Even the bathroom is worth checking out - these guys pay serious attention to detail. Their website, also created by one of the owners - is well structured, easy to navigate, and incredibly professional. At this point (11/4/2020) they have only been in business for a month, but present themselves as a very solid, and well thought out establishment. I assumed they'd been operating for years to perfect it the way that they have. We were greeted and had great conversation with an owner - who is personable, and very easy to relate with. I also enjoyed Skittles, a sweet puppy who sat with me while we waited on the rest of our group. And she was even wearing a company logo shirt! The game did NOT disappoint - I do not want to give away any spoilers, so ill be vague - but goodness! From the time you line up to enter the room, you are in FULL immersion. The scenes are fully created from top to bottom with detail. The ceilings, the paint, the props - all amazing quality. The game flows very well, and at the end you walk out with an understanding of what they were trying to portray. Some rooms are fun, but leave you with a "what just happened" feeling. Not at Nocturne Adventures. Each chamber unleashes a new secret of the Ripper, and at the end, it all makes sense! The website hints at this tidbit, so ill elaborate: You have to hide from the Ripper when he comes in. Even one of the hiding spots offers padding to avoid injury. I personally really appreciated this little detail, even though I didn't use that hiding spot. It speaks volumes to the care and attention poured into this room. I would like to say id enjoy this room, even if the puzzles were crappy, because of how well done it is - but the puzzles were awesome too. They were hands on, and some were unique. Ill keep my favorites to myself, but there were a couple I'd not seen before. This is a low tech room - most puzzles are locks, or logic, and they are not overly challenging or frustrating. It was a FUN experience, that kept your adrenaline pumping. The anticipation of "will I get this done before the Ripper comes back in" was one of the best parts - we listened for his chains, and ran to hide quite a few times on sike outs. It was an absolute blast - you will not be disappointed! *Parents Note* It is R rated, and they make that clearly known on their page - personally, the only element I would not have been okay with my 13 year old's experiencing (they regularly do escape rooms with us) is photographic nudity and, and possibly some harsh language - The rest was standard horror décor. **Please do not misunderstand this as criticism - these elements added to the room/experience substantially, and as an adult, I would prefer the full experience!** Constructive criticism: My ONLY suggestion for improvement would be to broaden the target area a smidge. Offering an additional PG-13 option, would allow parents to bring their teens, or could open it up to an audience that is not quite as intense but still enjoys horror. The omission of the F bomb, and swapping nude images for clothed images - would make this an experience I would bring my teens, or more reserved friends to enjoy - plus, it'd bring more revenue! After completing hundreds of escape rooms in the Carolinas, I can confidently say Nocturne Adventures' Ripper is in a league of its own! Whether you're new to escape rooms or a seasoned veteran, I couldn't recommend Nocturne Adventures more. The entire experience from start to finish was amazing and the perfect way to celebrate a birthday in our group! Nocturne Adventures perfectly blends horror elements and puzzles into the escape room to create an experience like no other! If you have been seeking the scary experience you haven't been able to find yet, I would highly recommend Ripper's Super Scary version! You will not find anything like it! For those skeptical that Nocturne Adventures is based in a home, let me assure you that there is no need for concern. The owners and staff were very friendly and hospitable and made our group feel more comfortable than we have even in escape rooms in shopping centers/malls. All I can say is WOW. What an amazing experience from start to finish. The work Nicole and Tom have put into their games is incredible. Both Ripper and Christmas Spirit were experiences like no other. I have never been so amazed yet terrified by an escape room before - Ripper will definitely get your adrenaline pumping. Christmas Spirit is not your typical Christmas room - it's very different (in a good way) than any other Christmas room I've ever played, but no spoilers! I have done well over 100 games, but I can assure you this place is at the top of my list for recommendations. Love this place. read more
