First of all I love my 2 star general that I inherited from my brother back in 2022. I keep it in magnificent condition because I live in all four seasons, and when it rains I like to keep it safe by storing it in the garage. I had an issue because I was doing a thorough cleaning before next bbq season and accidentally lost my cotter pin to hold my fire pot in place. I spoke to Dennis who is awesome in customer service, and doesn't blow you off. He is sending me via mail a new cotter pin no worries. I want to say I love the customer service, their products, and the fact that everything need to be made in the USA regardless. I would recommend anyone to getting a Mak Grill regardless. What an amazing grill. I've had mine for five or seven years now. I upgraded from the common treager and I can tell you - this is the Ferrari of pellet grills. Not only is the grill amazing, so is the company. For example. I had a question so I called their number. Dennis answered, he was polite, knowledgeable and perfectly helpful. What made it even better is that a few days later, Dennis called back to check in and see if everything was fine and working out (which it was) and to see if I had any other questions. 09/16/18 - When I wrote the review below and gave MAK Grills a dismal review, my husband and I were very frustrated. I want everyone to know I've changed that rating to 5 full stars. MAK Grills responded. After reviewing the log of our technical support calls, the CEO called my husband, and sent us a new grill/smoker and asked us to return the old one so they could determine what this issue was. What an awesome company! They really stand behind their products! 08/04/18 - We had such high hopes for this smoker. After a lot of researh, we decided on MAK 2-Star General. Plus, we were thrilled when we found it was built in the US. Unfortunately, we've have had nothing but problem with it. About six months in, we started having problems getting a temp above 200. It just wouldn't heat up. We've been on the phone with MAK Grills more times then we can count. The fire rod went out twice. MAK Grills has sent my husband parts numerous times and we even tried switching pellets but it's sill not working right. We then spent a bunch of money to replace the fire starter and now it never goes off after the fire is started and burns everything all the way to the pellet bin. You should have seen the smoke coming out of the pellet bin... We're giving up. BTW...the Treager Grill (made in China) that we bought 6 years earlier still works. read more

We own one of the original 2 Star Grills bought in 2010. The food output is incredible as is customer service. What has worn us down is the temperamental nature of the grill. It needs parts replacements almost annually that Mak thinks are DYI but we've had to hire a handyman at each step. It is usually out of commission for at least one month a year while we wait for parts or a person to come work on it. If you are handy and have time and energy to play with the Mak, its auger, igniter and pellet boss this is a great grill for you. If however you are more interested in just turning it on an cooking you may want to look elsewhere. read more

These grills are just absolutely amazing. Really well made and smokes/grills really evenly without hot spots and is efficient on pellet-use. I've only had one problem with the grill and that was that the two temperature probes failed - support was really fast and had us mail them in and sent us replacement probes. Just really happy with the quality of the grill and the support. We have recommended several people to buy from them. We have the 2 star General that is now about a year old, and is perhaps our favorite kitchen tool. We use it 2-3 times a week to smoke and grill most everything. I am a critic by nature, I can't remember the last thing that I was completely satisfied with after purchasing. I do inspections for a living and I have an eye for flaws and poor construction. I have owned my Mak grill for about a two years and I am totally blown away for their attention to small details. Other than this grill, I have never purchased anything that I could not find a large number of things that would have made them better, the only thing that I would change on the Mak is installing internal lights. There are details that most people will not even notice and many of which they do not market. This is by far the best piece of equipment I have ever owned. I wish I was a salesman for their grill, I could spend hours telling people all of the quality features. This is an easy product to stand behind. Nailed it! read more
