Thanks to previous reviews I found this art gallery eatery. I ordered the creamy pasta with spinach and tomatoes it was creamy, fresh and very filling. My accompaniment had the chicken Alfredo which was good as well but both just needed I tad salt. My eyes feasted on the artwork will my mouth feasted on the plate before me! Btw, pretty plates! Our waitress was very friendly. I was able to find metered street parking right in front of the restaurant, however, it was Monday afternoon. As far as cleanliness, it didn't smell very fresh when I walked in but the tables, floors and cushions looked clean. The chairs did look like they needed a good scrub! read more

Business hours vary each day of the week so double check before showing up or make a reservation in advance. It was a very casual atmosphere which is what we needed after a full day of outdoor recreation. On the Saturday in August of our visit, there was indoor seating in the bright natural light dining room with live music starting at 7 o'clock, seats at the bar in the dark bar room, and tables available outside in their courtyard. There's a few parking spots right outside for pickup, which is usually what we do. The place is super cute and eclectic, they have a patio which I'd love to see when the weather is nicer! We have gotten take out twice now, both times have been really good. You can taste the quality ingredients for sure. I ordered the California chicken grilled cheese (without the aioli, I know shun me!) but it was awesome. Flavors worked very well together and every ingredient belonged. Would order again with a soup next time! The service here is awesome, everyone I speak to there is always super nice. We went for Easter Brunch. I cannot even wrap my head around what was on that buffet. None of it made sense. The French toast was made with a .99 loaf of bread and was covered in egg. Not sure why cheeseburger Mac was on the menu. It seemed like the chef forgot to get out of bed and they served whatever was in the kitchen. Super interesting place in Westmoreland, PA. They make their own burbon, gin and vodka creations which are truly delicious. I liked the salted caramel burbon! Menu has all the hits from tacos to salmon to steak, even vegetarian. Live music and events throughout the week. Can't wait to come back! read more

My coworkers and I were on a work trip and wanted to go somewhere local to dinner. A quick Google search brought us here. This was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. We sat on the patio and Jojo was our server - she was such a sweetheart. I ordered a gin and tonic with infused watermelon cucumber gin (delicious) and the chicken italiano. Chicken was seasoned perfectly, pasta side was incredible, roasted vegetables picked from their garden were delicious. My coworkers got the filet, wagu beef tacos, and the seasonal sweet and sour salad. Everyone left satisfied and happy. So much so that we not only recommended all of our other coworkers to go here, but we came back two days later. When we came back, we ran into our coworkers at the bar. We sat outside on the patio and had another incredible meal once again served by the delightful Jojo. I had many more gin and tonics with infused gin and the wagu tacos. My coworkers got crab cakes, the chicken italiano, and filet. Everyone was once again satisfied and happy. It came to closing time and Jojo locked up the front door, turned on the patio lights, and continued serving us. She let us stay out back talking and drinking for 2 hours past closing. It was such a delightful night and I cannot recommend this place enough. Service was incredible, ambiance was wonderful, and the food was delicious. My coworkers and I came from out of town but we all expressed the desire to come back, have another incredible meal, and see Jojo again. It was only after the first time we went that we realized the important work Major Stokes does for the community. The sustainability efforts and work they do with nonprofits is extremely commendable and only made us love them more. Major Stokes commanded my attention immediately . Newly opened business adventures are always a welcome sight in this area , especially one with plenty to offer. My first visit confirmed that I waited far too long to meet the Major. The warm, personal greeting got this 1st visit off to a great start. The eclectic decor, furnishings, and surroundings, gave this historic building, circa 1881, the attention and respect it so deserves. This introduction alone confirmed this is the place to keep in my rotation of fun places to go. But then, to even compound the 5 star rating it received the first 10 minutes of my visit, I opted for their buffett vs the menu offerings for the day. What a delight! Fresh, fun, and plentiful ! I could have made a meal out of the salad alone since it was absolutely the best tasting array of lettuce and salad components I have eaten in a long time. I was very impressed with my first visit and cannot wait to return. Since Major Stokes menu changes daily it will give me plenty of reasons to do so! We went to this place for lunch on a Monday around 3 and were surprisingly the only people there. Where are all of you?? I believe the woman who took our order owns the restaurant. She was so kind and attentive and we had a great conversation with her. The food was so good, portioned perfectly. We had the chicken grilled cheese, the house salad, cheesecake for dessert and a few drinks. Everything was great, the place is really cute and unique and I loved the outside patio. I'm not normally the type to leave a review but this place was so great and i think deserves some more hype. Great place to go for brunch on Sundays. They have a Buffay that includes favorites like shrimp paella mac & cheese and even grilled fish occasionally. I really enjoy the service as well! Chocho is great is a wonderful hostess and always makes sure our needs are met. It's a small place but they have indoor and outdoor seating. They have a few classic games for the kids but most of the pieces end up missing. The bar is wonderful with a variety of mixed drinks as well as beers. We tried a coffe flavored bourbon and a strawberry infused vodka. Both were great! My favorite has been the strawberry margarita and Bloody Mary. Brunch bar is always different each time we go. It's about $25 for adults and $10-$15 for kids. They have yogurt, salads, fresh fruit, crock pots with beans, pulled pork and soup. Not to mention a decent little dessert table with 3-5 different options. I'm usually full by the time I get to dessert but the kids love the muffins and pies. We anticipated a Garden birthday brunch but things changed when it rained for two days! We were not disappointed! We were seated in a beautiful room filled with art from local artists. Some were of flowers ! The food was delicious, there was a variety to accommodate all of our group. The service was spot on. Had a great evening here celebrating my middle son's 23rd Birthday. The service was a little slow but the place was hopping. Inside and outside seating we're both excellent and we chose outside. Had live musicians and they performed very well. The food was fresh and flavorful. It was worth the 15-20 minute extra wait. We tried their sunday brunch today and I had mixed feelings about it. For being out in greensburg it is nice to have a local.source alternative and the service was good. I get that it is a tapas bar, But they could maybe balance the prices and portions a little better, at least for their brunch. I really liked the scallop chowder. But The mexicano huevos could have used a little more Mexican, maybe a dash of salsa and made with 2 eggs instead of one. The banana bread was good. But I think 2 slices instead of one for that price would be more appropriate. They seem to have a good drink and beer selection, I'd like to see what else they offer, and update my review later. read more

The stop at Major Stokes was made on the spot with no planning. We were passing through town on Father's Day. We didn't have reservations and the hostess nicely let us have a table, there was only three of us. It was a cute little place with a small bar and an eclectic patio in the back with picnic tables, nice simple decor and flowers. We got there around 11:30 am and within an hour the place was packed! They had a brunch buffet. You got your breakfast items: eggs, bacon sausage, sausage gravy, french toast, and potatoes. You also had your lunch items: salad, fruit, soups, fettuccine Alfredo, mac&cheese with beef, ham, rice with shrimp. The food was very tasty and needed no seasoning whatsoever. The chef did a wonderful job with all the dishes. All seemed to be made in small batches and added hot. We loved this place, it was a surprisingly very nice and enjoyable place and meal read more

There is a wonderfully comfortable artsy outdoor area, which and owner and staff are friendly and provide great service. The infused cocktails are the best I've had - exotic and delightful. Made a same day reservation for dinner before a show at the Palace Theatre. Arrived at 5.30 and seated in small quaint front dining room that was quickly filling with other theatre goers. The poor waitress was running ragged as apparently 2 members of staff had called off. The lady bar tender also helped out where she could. Ordered pork sliders and the crab cakes both were excellent, especially the crab cakes though it came with a seafood risotto that was rather basic (just one large shrimp) but still tasty all the same. Love the charm, character and ambience of the place. Briefly explored the other rooms to see that there were were other dining areas, including an outdoor patio area that I would certainly consider dining alfresco on warm pleasant evenings. The eclectic artwork adorning the walls (including in the bathroom) is for sale. Kudos to our waitress (and the bar tender) for her service being so busy with other patrons. Sorry didn't know her name as we didn't ask for a copy of the check when paying by tablet as we didn't want to trouble the the staff for a printed copy of the bill. My one only slight gripe was some of the bench seating was hard and rather uncomfortable. (A little padding would go a long way!) Any way Major Stokes is now going to be my go to place when going to an occasional show or concert in Greensburg due to its close proximity to the Palace Theatre. read more

This is such a great place in the City of Greensburg. The food is amazing! If you are looking for gourmet food this is where you need to go. I love that the portion sizes because I don't feel overwhelmed with so much food thrown in my face. The menu does change daily so you are not bored with the same foods. I stopped in here by chance one evening when they first opened and I tried one of their featured cocktails, which they change daily. Each day brings new food and drinks, so it's always worth another stop in! When I learned they also offer Sunday brunch, I was eager to try all of the delicious food I've been hearing about. I was NOT disappointed. There was a wide selection of freshly made foods set out at a self-serve buffet table, as well as a couple of staple menu items like chocolate banana bread and oatmeal. I was told the chef makes different dishes for the Sunday brunch buffet, so I'm definitely looking forward to coming back for another round (or two or three). So, if you're looking for exactly the same thing every time, this is not the place for you. We've dined here for brunch (Mother's Day was great!) as well as dinners. I like the small plate option. There is always an interesting selection of beer & wine. I've not tried the cocktails, but what I saw looked good. If the weather is nice, sitting outside is a great option. After looking up a bunch of brunch places on yelp, I came across this one. Fresh ingredients and such they raved about. The location was easy to find but for a Sunday visiting the area, I have no idea where everyone was. When we got into the restaurant, I believe the chef/owner of the place told us to make ourselves feel at home. We took a seat hoping to be given menus but instead was told that it was a buffet. I was taken back by this and wasn't sure what to do because I was hoping to try some of their menu options. I wish they would have put a sign up for this because this wasn't something I had expected.
