I honestly feel scammed. I've been getting Russian manicures with hard gel for over 2 years, so I know exactly what I'm looking at. This was not it. Not even close! First off, they advertised an open 5pm appointment slot and I slid in their DMs asking for it. I get an almost immediate response saying that spot isn't available. Weird, but okay. So I ask if they have 2pm on Monday instead. They say yes, ask for all my info to lock me in, I send my name, phone number, email... and they tell me I'm confirmed. Then I get a long text with conditions from their studio saying I need to send a $30 deposit immediately to secure the spot. Fine. I go to pay the deposit, and get another message asking what time my service is for. I say 2pm. They respond saying that time isn't available and they can do 3pm. WTF do you mean??? You literally just confirmed me. At that point I tell them they're being confusing, but whatever, I can do 3pm. Already off to a bad start. Then the morning of the appointment I get a message basically threatening to cancel if I don't send the deposit... I literally screenshot my deposit that I sent DAYS ago and reply immediately. All I get back is "sorry for the confusion." At that point I already had a gut feeling to cancel because of how unprofessional this whole booking process was, and the service hadn't even started yet. I should've trusted my gut. Now for the actual service... I asked for a full hard gel Russian manicure. There was basically no hard gel or proper nail shape. She filed my nails, put something on (if that was "hard gel," I'd love to know what product because it was invisible), and skipped so many steps. The nails are paper thin, flimsy, bumpy, and completely lack an apex.. I assumed she wasn't finished. Then I saw her go for the polish and I spoke up. I asked her to add more because they felt way too thin. After some back-and-forth, she said sure... and then kept going with polish. At that point I realized there was a communication issue in addition to a skill issue. Then I asked for a sheer light pink with white chrome like Bubble Bath. I showed a reference photo (attached). What I got looks like solid silver metallic chrome, like a literal car rim. Not sheer. Not soft. Not even remotely close! When I questioned it, she told me that's just what chrome looks like. No, it's not... And then the payment situation. ‍ Cash, Zelle, or Venmo only. No card because they "don't have a machine." Convenient! When I said I couldn't use any of those, suddenly Apple Pay became an option. So which is it? I paid $233 for thin, uneven nails and a completely wrong color. Then realized after the fact that my $30 deposit was applied on top of that, bringing my total to $263. I spoke up multiple times during the appointment that I wasn't happy, and nothing was fixed. I still tipped $30 on top, which I regret. This was easily the worst nail experience I've had. $263!! I bet it'd be a safe assumption to make that the reason they don't accept credit cards is because they got too many chargebacks for their poor work in the past. If you actually want proper Russian nails with real hard gel structure, go somewhere else. read more

I am in shock at the way they just handled my situation. I have been a client there for years & have sent sooooo many people there. I scheduled an appt to get my nails done before I give birth. I showed up to my appt today only to find out that once again their receptionist messed up my appt and scheduled me for next Wednesday instead of today. I am 9 1/2 months pregnant & drove 40 mins to their salon. The receptionist working was so kind & tried to be as accommodating as possible. They rescheduled me for tomorrow. I am still working and have other appts. I rearranged my appts for tomorrow so I could make it. I asked to speak to the manager. Instead of offering the customer service I deserve, you know since I spend almost $300 every time I go, she decides to cancel my appt for tomorrow and return my deposit. This is the worst customer service experience. They cancel my appt after they messed up my appt lol. read more

I came in for a Russian gel pedicure and I'm officially sold! The service was $80 with a $31 deposit, and parking was easy with street parking nearby. I arrived 15 minutes early for my 2 pm appointment and was greeted right away. This is a dry pedicure, and she really took her time -- she buffed my feet to perfection and they feel incredibly soft. The whole service took about an hour. I'm really happy with the results so far and just hoping the polish lasts about a month. I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

Is this place expensive? Yes! But you also get what you pay for, their attention to detail is unmatched and if there's anything you're not happy with they'll fix it. I've been coming to Ma Jollie for about a year now and what I love the most about the salon is that they are consistent. All of the top nail techs are fantastic, but my favorites are Irina, Ruzanna, and Nadia. These ladies always do a fantastic job, pay close attention to detail, and can mimic a design I show them. My nails always last for at least 4 weeks, which I love because I travel so often. They also have a very cozy vibe inside of the salon. I called to make an appointment & I was told over the phone that my services would be $90. The girl who did my services was really nice but it honestly didn't feel like I received a "Russian " pedicure . As I have gotten this service done before. It feels like I paid for a regular gel pedicure. As I checked out I asked the girl why I was getting charged $90 & their website said $80. She said because I was booked with a "top technician " & that's all they had available. Which when I called I was never explained that there was "different level" of technicians & based on their level the prices are different. Ma Jolie is just okay. Most of the nail techs are great. patient, gentle, and precise. But today I decided I'd better give somewhere else a try. Reasons for my decisions: (1) paying these guys always feels kinda shady and cumbersome. For one, to secure your appointment you need to pay a deposit with a credit card through a clunky foreign web site. After your appointment, no credit cards are accepted at check out. You'd expect a cash-only business to have change on-site but no. You're expected to bring exact change, and it's even stated in their booking confirmation text. If you don't have exact change--you can Venmo them with a 2.5% fee. Or stand there for a few awkward minutes Zelle-ing them from your bank app. It's just too complicated. If you're not going to keep change on-site, can I please just pay with a credit card? Checking out just takes too long every time. Maybe these guys just hate credit card fees--but every time I check out with them, I get the icky feeling that I'm unwittingly aiding them in tax evasion and money laundering. (2) I put up with the weird payment process because the nail techs were pretty great. Up until today when I got a sloppy tech who burned me several times with the drill and called me over-sensitive to her colleague in front of me when I asked her to file down my nail instead of my skin. That's when I decided I was better off booking at a salon in Beverly Hills which was offering an easier, U.S. based online booking system and accepted major U.S. credit cards through the Square app--all at the same competitive prices. I booked with them right from the pedicure chair. Maybe I'll be back to Ma Jolie, but it'll have to be because I couldn't secure an appointment elsewhere. read more
