I've been getting gel pedicures for over a year. They do an excellent job and have a great selection of trendy and classic colors and techniques. I usually choose first available tech and have worked with most of the staff. I have never had a bad experience or pedicure from any of the technicians. Rorie, Giselle, and Tiara are my favorites! I was on the fence leaving after my pedicure. During the service, I did feel slightly uncomfortable -- you're sitting on a chair with your knees up and it's not the most comfortable position to be in for a long period of time. I also felt like the filing was rough and felt my skin burning multiple times. I understand that's the service so I didn't say anything and continued on, but I generally get a pedicure for a relaxing experience, not to feel uncomfortable. On top of that the massage is next to nothing. When I left, I saw that she had filed my toenails to the very quick in every direction possible, no shaping, no matching my toes to each other to look uniform. I was even going to forgive all of this and even thought I might go back and try again to see if a second experience would be different... fast forward a few hours and I see that she nicked me in multiple areas on my second and big toe, and my big toe is actually aching pretty bad at the cuticle. Now I just have to hope and pray it doesn't get infected... I probably will not be returning and this has made me hesitant to try a Russian manicure/pedicure in the future. read more

I've been here twice so far. Once for a regular pedicure with Lana, and once for gel polish removal and a regular manicure with a different tech. Lana is amazing! She clearly knows what she's doing and is very well trained. If you have any toenail issues, I highly recommend seeing her. It's been three weeks since my pedicure, and it still looks fresh. Definitely 5 stars for her! Just a heads up, all pedicures and manicures here are dry. They don't soak your hands or feet, so keep that in mind if you prefer a more traditional service. Honestly, my manicure experience wasn't that great. I'd give it 3 stars at most. I requested gel polish removal followed by a regular manicure. The technician seemed as if she didn't want to be there. While the cuticle cleaning was done well, the nail shaping was off. I asked for square nails with rounded corners, but ended up with very square, sharp edges that looked awkward. On top of that, the dust from the gel removal wasn't cleaned off properly. She applied polish directly over the dust, making my nails look bumpy. No cuticle oil or lotion was used either, and I left the salon with white dust still around my nails, which felt odd. Honestly, I think a basic corner nail salon could have done a better job with a regular manicure. So not sure if it was worth the price. The location is small but cute. I didn't notice any hygiene issues. There is no parking, so expect to find street or metered parking. The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. I booked my appointment and was excited about my mani /pedi. On my way to my appointment, I was hit from behind while driving on the 405, and could no longer make it to my appointment (obviously). There were four vehicles involved in the accident, the police were on their way. A few hours later, after dealing with insurance, my job, and getting a check-up (I'm 8 months pregnant, so the accident had me very stressed), I received a text message from Paint Bar that I would be charged $70 for the missed appointment. When I called and spoke to a male at Paint Bar, I was told that because I didn't cancel my appointment 24 hours ahead of time, whatever the "excuse" was, I had to pay for the full amount of the service. They were able to squeeze in a manicure to cover some of the time and "save me money", but they were not able to fill the pedicure time, so I had to lay $70. He told me that this is how the "girls" get paid. Not once did he say anything about his business, but it was all about how the girls are left without pay due to a customer's misfortune. I told him that as the business owner, he should take care of his employees when emergencies like multi-vehicle accidents happen and customers legitimately cannot make it. I offered to send him the information about the police report and images of the four vehicles. Nonetheless, they still charged me the $70 because of their "policy." This is the worst customer service that I have ever seen for any beauty service in Los Angeles. Now, in top of dealing with the aftermath of this collision, they've taken my money, and shown me that not only do they not care about their customers, but their "girls" don't get paid when a valid emergency occurs and the employee ultimately pays the price where an owner should step in with empathy and compassion for life's most unfortunate moments. I loved their services previously, but will never again give this man or either of his establishments a dime. I will take my money somewhere that cares for its customers and its employees. read more

Obsessed with Paint Bar! Best manicure in LA, have not tried the pedicure but want to next. I've been here twice and this is my new and only nail spot. First time having a Russian manicure with hard gel and my nails have never looked this long and healthy. I've always had bad cuticles and this manicure has practically healed them. I was on the fence because it's more expansive than a regular gel manicure but worth it. Gel ruined my nails in the past, made them paper thin. Hard gel has made me nails so strong, healthy and they are so long I am shocked. It's a longer manicure, around 2 1/2 hours but so thorough and no complaints. They have a huge assortment of colors and can do any type of nail art. My only suggestion is to offer coffee or tea, I've had nail salons that charge way less offer that. read more

I initially booked here under the false understanding that they offered true Russian manicures and pedicures. This was not the case. Though their style of manicures and pedicures are similar to the Russian technique, it was not and lacked various critical steps - specifically with my hard gel manicure. I am so disappointed. I had been searching for a nail place that would be better than the Russian pedicures I have grown used to. I needed something that focused on my dry cracked heals better than any other pedicure I have had. So when I saw they had a paramedical pedicure I was so excited to finally get my calluses and cracked feet worked on by someone that really focuses on them. I booked with Jenny who was nice enough, but told me during her visit she had no real background in paramedical pedicures, that the owner just wanted someone else to do them in the salon so she started doing them. That seemed off to me, but Lana who seemingly has an extensive background in paramedical pedicures sat right next to her and chimed in when needed my entire appointment. They both said regular polish is healthier than the gel I normally get, which I appreciate the care, but unfortunately nobody states this prior or on the website, and they do not have a dryer for your feet, and when I asked about a fan she handed ME the fan to hold, rather than her just doing it herself. My feet look okay, but honestly I have had much better Russian pedicures at salons closer to my home and for cheaper. The callouses looked much thicker after the service than my other salon leaves them too. When I asked why, I was told they will always be like that as long as I dance. Pretty sure I have been dancing and getting pedicures for YEARS and have had them removed/looking better when I leave the salon than this. When I brought up my concern to the front desk girl ( red hair) that I really don't think Paint Bar should advertise a paramedical pedicure if their only way to address cracked feet/heels is to do a normal Russian (not as well as other places), with inexperienced technicians, and price gauge, instead of being met with customer service and understanding, I was met with hostility and more attitude than my 13yr old God daughter gives me. It made me so uncomfortable I accidentally dropped my smoothie that was in a glass bottle and it smashed all over the floor. The front desk girl ( red hair) didn't even ask if I need a touch up on my nails since I was told to leave before my polish was dry and they didn't even have a drying area. I advocated for myself since I had just paid over $100 for what was basically a normal pedicure, and Jenny touched up the nails that were effected by the smoothie fiasco. I was forced to walk out in the flimsy little flip flops they provide and just as expected, one of the nails is already ruined because they are NOT dry! Seriously disappointed in general, but I think the worst part is the customer service. The front desk girl ( red hair) said she would have a manager contact me, not only do I doubt that, but given the type of customer service representatives they hire, I highly doubt they will compensate or do anything to rectify the situation. The only reason I took the time to write. This review is because I'm currently sitting in the car with the air conditioning on my feet. Waiting for my feet to dry since they did not have a drying area or fan inside the salon. But please BEWARE, if you are even just looking for a high quality pedicure this is NOT the place, let alone a paramedical pedicure to address callouses or cracks on your heels/feet. I am by no means a nail regular...I haven't gone in years and only learned about gel extensions through yelp and tiktok lol and thought acrylic tips or dip were the only lengthening options. My experience here was great! Tania took her time to make sure the pattern was what I asked for (have pictures ready imo) and I also had a great pedicure with gel with Sofia. The biggest complaint I have with Paint Bar is their limited range of nail polishes. I scheduled a regular manicure on the weekend before my birthday to treat myself. Amy showed me the swatches available and I was really disappointed in the colors. Most were brighter, summery colors and I was looking for more of a burgundy shade. I settled on a dark green but that color wasn't unavailable either, so she let me take a look at the polishes on the rack. I chose a cherry red as it was the closest color I was able find. I have been getting my nails done by the owner of Paint Bar, Kinga for almost a year now. She is the only person that will touch my nails from now on. She specializes in gel nails. I use to get dip and loved it until a different salon gave my finger nails an infection from their dip. Think about... they can't sanitize dip powder. So I told Kinga of my concerns. Once my nails grew out and were healthy again (from the other salon, not hers) she then was able to switch me over to gel. She is very detailed oriented and cares about your nail bed integrity and the final look/design. I am so very happy with them every time I get them done. She also as a person is welcoming, calm, witty, and easy to be around. She also is great with helping you pick out designs before you next appointment as well so she is prepared and knows what you are looking for before you get them done. Dara does a good job and is the only one worth paying for but she's not taking new clients allegedly. I've gone to a couple others who were very mediocre but I don't want to name names because they were very sweet. However, I have to mention that Sofia is not good; even the owner (Kinga) herself knows this. In terms of customer service, the owner is rude and kind of shady. There are so many other places that do European manicures in LA now that it's not worth coming here with the rudeness and lack of parking. In fact, there are a couple shops that have been opened up by Kinga's former employees who she treated so badly that they left. I don't think I can name them here but feel free to DM me. read more

Do not come here unless you are within walking distance or taking an Uber. I drove around for over 20 minutes looking for a spot and did my best to communicate that I was late and couldn't find anywhere to park. At first they were accommodating, but after about 15-20 mins they became noticeably frustrated (of course, it wasn't ideal for either of us...I was frustrated too). I let them know that I physically could not find a place to put my car within walking distance and had been trying desperately to find a spot. They told me that 4 other people where in the salon and got there just fine. It was like they didn't believe that I couldn't find parking. I tried metered spots and neighborhoods but couldn't find a paid lot either. I asked them if they could please cancel my appointment and they said they would but it would be a no show and they would charge my card for the service. I told them I would drive by to show that I'm actually here and not lying. The woman wasn't accepting that and told me that they only want customers who want to be there and respect their time and I don't seem like someone who is like that. These circumstances were completely beyond my control and the woman chose to insult me rather than trying to empathize with the situation. I had a very poor experience at the Paint Bar in LA during a visit. 1) The website booking made it seem as if a regular manicure could include the application of regular polish, gel, or bring your own for $40, but when I arrived I was told it was an additional amount (around $20-25) for gel. I thought $40 was already extremely expensive, but I was on vacation and heard this dry manicure was good and makes the polish last longer. So I opted for the regular with regular polish. The manager or owner or whoever was in charge told me how the dry manicure makes polish last longer since your cuticle skin doesn't swell and change with water. 2) The manicurist cut me while working on my cuticles and I was bleeding. She had to use something to stop the blood regularly. It stopped enough for her to continue working. I paid, I left. 3) On the day after I got it (I got it Tuesday morning), on Wednesday afternoon, I already had 2 nails that were chipped and there was still some blood from where she cut me. By Thursday I had 3 more chipped, and not just a tiny bit on the edges, but almost halfway off the nail. the top halves continued to peel each day. I think the polish brand was Botanica (possibly the culprit?) 4) I soon contacted the salon via their website and received no reply. On Thursday, I sent them an email with photos and told them about the issues, and asked for a partial refund. No reply for days. I called and left a message. No reply. I could not believe how quickly all my nails started chipping. It is not like I work on an assembly line or fix cars with my hands all day. This was such a disappointment and I felt totally swindled. A regular manicure I get in NYC lasts usually at least 4-7 days before chipping. This lasted 1 day. In an eventual email response I received a week later, they took no responsibility for the substandard service and did not grant any partial refund request. I highly DO NOT recommend this place for a regular manicure! Save your money or go somewhere else. read more

There is always metered parking either in the front or on the side street, so that isn't something to worry about (and I always like to know a parking situation before I go somewhere). How many angles of a peeling nail do you need to see or did you see the hand of a black womanly and suddenly you questioned my word?. Throw the whole place away. Best nails on the west side! I had gel extensions done by Kinga who is the owner and can't say enough good things. I was 20 mins late for my appointment but she did not rush me at all (even though she had the right to) and she still made sure my nails looked great. It was my first manicure in a very long time and my first time ever having gel extensions. I had no idea what to expect so she explained the whole process to me as we went along which I really appreciated. It was super clear to me by looking down the row of seats that all the employees care a lot about what they do, every customer's nails looked amazing. They also take the time to get to know their customers which I could tell just from sitting there for an hour - Kinga knew most people who came in the door by name. This might be a weird way to start a review, but I HATE getting my nails done. I just feel like I'd rather be doing something else. ... and that's why I LOVE Paint Bar. I get a gel manicure every three weeks and they look fresh for three weeks -- no chips, peels or hangnails. I'm not the most careful with my nails so the fact that they stay intact for 21 days (and could honestly go longer) is a testament to Paint Bar's method and collective talent. It also helps that the space is great and Kinga and her team are lovely. Paint Bar made me a gel nail convert! The absolute best place in LA. The salon is beautiful and my nails are always incredible, be it full nail art or one colour. My nails always last 4-5 weeks and the only reason I need them re-doing is because they get so long I can't function, they would last longer they are so strong! I've gone in with some wild nail art ideas and the team always deliver. Dara is a nail art rock star, so is Tania. Pedicures are comfortable and last for ages (I now swear by dry pedicures, so much more hygenic). Kinga, the owner, is incredibly helpful and goes out of her way to give you the best experience.
