DO NOT order for here! They will take no responsibility for the package actually arriving. My package never arrived and I do know this for sure. They would not refund my purchase. Never again... read more

Gorgeous scarf and wonderful customer service. I also especially appreciate their ethical sourcing of products and support for local and international artisan communities. read more

Love the staff and product. I recently ordered Merino Wool Scarves which had quite a bit of chemical in the wool; really stubborn to scour. Did not absorb dye during first attempt. Scoured in hot water; boiled almost for over an hour to reduce the yellowing and dirty qualities in the wool from India source. My favorite silk is the buttery mulberry. Lovely! I look forward to the arrival of more mulberry. Thanks Maiwa for hanging in there during Covid debacle! read more

This shop makes you want to knit. Not just knit, but knit like an old, experienced knitter, who has nothing but time while living in a cabin in the woods. There is beautiful silk blend yarn and some already-made scarves. You should plan on staying several minutes in this little store because there is so much for your eyes to take in. As an added bonus, there is also excellent service. The employees have a remarkable about of information about their store. There are gorgeous books and magazine options, too. So, time to become a recluse and become a full-time knitter because I know where I will come for supplies when I need to get back in touch with civilization. read more

One of the only presents I bought for myself in Vancouver was purchased at Maiwa. And it took forever for me to decide which naturally dyed leather handbag I wanted. ;) This is a really nice shop with lots of garments, silks, linens, home decor items, accessories, pillows, shawls, scarves and bedding. The prices were affordable, especially for Granville Island, and the staff were very friendly. read more

A unique retail store featuring hand-woven products as they work with Indian artisans for mostly clothes and bedding sheets, etc. They have an extensive section in the back corner, right side.. It's a fairly cramped store beside Net Loft Cafe, as they sure maximize their product offerings, except for men's of course lol. As pic shows, they only did this as an afterthought, just a tiny corner, on 2 racks at most, on the left side beside the cashier. And expensive it was: $100 for a shirt with a fashion that's more laid back and conservative. But as manager Shirley who was friendly and proud to point out, it's high end quality using natural and organic materials. Also sell books. read more

I order from Maiwa online since I live in California. Love the quality of their products, the range of products available, including lots of organic cotton, their ethics and philosophy, plus all the the excellent online material they give so generously in the form of instruction downloads and blog entries. Highly recommend. read more

Maiwa Handprints is in the Net Loft building on Granville island. They also have other related locations in Vancouver. My last, of many, bedding sets I have purchased here needed replacing after 20+ years. Shirley was most helpful, influencing my decision, putting together a beautiful combo in the Ajrakh prints. High quality cotton, incredible value for such a great product. Thank you Maiwa! read more

This store is a refreshing change to the many touristy stores on Granville Island hawking "Vancouver 2010" merch, boring postcards/calendars/sweaters, and "native" or "ethnic" items that dangerously straddle the thin line between kitsch and offensive. Instead, what Maiwa offers are handmade, naturally dyed clothing, accessories, and gorgeous imported artisan goods--ethically sourced, ecologically conscious, and brought to the shop via direct, fair-practice business dealings with artists and craftsmen. They have a surprisingly large variety of items in what seems to be a limited amount of space, but what drew my attention was the clothing, the natural fabrics with their gorgeous colors and amazing handcrafted designs. There is a definite boho-chic feel to the clothing (which is practically unavoidable in a place that deals in natural, handcrafted fair-trade clothing), but it's subtle and the neutral/natural color palette is deeply pleasing to the eye. I got my mother a gorgeous handwoven piece of pale blue/seafoam green raw silk (roughly $60 after taxes), large and gauzy enough to be used as a filmy, single-layer shawl or to be folded and bunched into a more substantial scarf. 30% of the profits go directly back to the maker. All in all this business is a fantastic place to do some feel-good browsing/shopping! read more

Beyond freaking cool! I so wish this place were in Seattle. The store is beautiful and has a great selection of dyes and textile supplies as well as yarns. My friend and I each got a handstamping set with Indian woodblocks, dyes and a plain scarf for around $35. We had a blast making beautiful scarves the following afternoon. This will be a must see every time I am in Vancouver. read more

Amazing store! I wanted almost every single thing I touched. Everything in here is made of natural fibers and dyes, and is hand-made. There are gorgeous dresses, skirts, tops and even some sweet hobo style bags for about $50 that I am seriously considering going back for. The colours on all the garments are deep and rich and incredibly beautiful. All the tags explain the fiber contents and some of them include a little info on how it was made. Everything is quite pricey here, but for a reason. There are also a ton of neat books scattered around the store that I was checking out. Maiwa Handprints will definitely become one of my regular stops when I visit Granville Island in the future. read more

Maiwa Supply is the offshoot store of Maiwa Handprints on granville island, now in its relatively new location that's not right next door to its parent store of finished products. The store has an extensive array of fabric paints and some reasonably priced quality fabric. The staff is friendly, always willing to chat about what you want to make and how to get there. The fabric selection is not extensive, but I am a fan of their fabric stamps. read more

Maiwa now also has a strong selection of natural and hand-dyed yarns, and their prices per skein are no higher (and sometimes lower) than some of the other yarn shops in the city. A pleasant surprise for me, that I can do some yarn browsing and buying when I do my grocery shopping. read more

Maiwa Handprints sells a variety of clothing items, such as scarves and shawls, and textiles, like cushions and bedding, in beautiful dyed silk, cotton and linen fabrics. They also have lovely leather bags ranging in price between $50-$80 and woven baskets, perfect for shopping at the Granville Island Public Market. Maiwa works with artisans from India, Turkey and other countries and has a foundation to promote economic self sufficiency among artisans. read more

I love this store for its products and its service. I live on Salt Spring Island and have been ordering wool and buttons for several months now and I am never disappointed. The staff promptly put my packages in the mail and I get them in two or three days. On line purchases are easy and if there is any difficulty, the staff are extremely helpful on the telephone. My main interest is yarn but the supply store is stocked to the hilt with superior products of all types and if you are lucky enough to go to the shop on Granville Island, you are in for a feast of the senses. I will continue to support Maiwa with my purchases and will always recommend it to my friends and family. Good Shopping everyone! read more

This is a great shop! I came in here to pick up a jar of henna powder for learning to do temporary tattoos with and I found just what I needed. Not to mention they also had all the other neessary supplies such as essential oils. As for the price, it's not bad at all. The smallest jar goes for $3.95 and is enough to last me for a long time. Definately cheaper than the henna tattoo kit Michael's is selling. This is Maiwa's art supply store that I am reviewing, not the clothing store. They also have a clothing and houseware store which I haven't been to yet. I strongly believe in supporting local buisnesses and I couldn't be happier comming inside here, especially in the whole Grandville Island spirit. read more

Firstly, this shop is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. They had so many exotic and lovely crafting items! I was immediately drawn to their amazing selection of yarn, dyes, and textile supplies. They had some very, very nice brands of yarn (Manos del Uruguay, Blue Moon Fiber Arts, and Misti Alpaca are the ones I bought) and it was definitely one of those situations where I wished I could have gotten a little of all their yarn! Honestly, just looking at their yarn selection made me want to knit up some socks right then and there. I think I circled through their store 3 times just to see everything they had to offer. Luckily, the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions I had regarding all their items. If I am ever in the Vancouver area, I would definitely come back! read more

I love the store and what they carry. I've purchased from their other shop, Maiwa Handprints for years. However, this supply store, some of staffs are extremely unfriendly, often doesn't answer the questions and walk away! I can't believe they are can be this way to their customers when they are located in the Granville island with TONES of tourists. I hope they can improve their service level, since this is a such a lovely shop. Will not shop there for now. read more

I love hand woven products. I have a few myself that I like to snuggle up with in the office. I found a pink wrap that I want for the office since it gets cold here. Lately I have been obsessed with pinks, therefore, it was love at first sight. It was $$$, however, may come back for it in the next cheque or two. read more

The store is nice but, the customer service is awful - I walk into the store - no greetings and when I asked a question about the fabric - the attendant gave a condascending remark with a sexist and prejudice tone (as if I don't know what to do with their materials making me feel unwelcome and illiterate). I wanted to support a local company but, with that kind of attitude towards guests - I prefer to take my business online. I saw a caucasian woman in the store and she thought she was above herself but, I am sure she is no better than the store attendant. It is unfortunate to have retail prejudicism existing. read more

By far my most favorite place to shop for house decorating and accessories. I'm a vegetarian, and all of the leather products are apparently made from animal that were already found dead; they didn't slaughter the animals for the products. The unique items they sell here are treasures you won't see on many other people... and the prices are very reasonable for imported, handmade items. read more

This funky little market shop in the heart of artsy Granville Island was a wonderful place to browse and learn all about natural fabrics and natural dyes. I enjoyed the April Cornell meets eco mixture of clothes and bedding as well as funky bells, purses and home goods. This was a great spot to linger in between meals and many customers seemed very happy to watch their video and read the cards about the products that Maiwa sells. If you like eco-fashion it's not to be missed. read more

If you love knitting, dyeing, and the fibre arts, then this is almost heaven! Maiwa offers workshops, talks, and a super selection of dyes and supplies for the fibre artist. I just love how their collection of quality yarns is growing too! If you're looking for a gift for a knitter or fibre-addicted individual, I'm sure this place will fill the bill. read more
