I have to preface that we're not in San Jose, CA but we are in a place where there is a Vietnamese population with that said this place is easily the worst place I've ever eaten Vietnamese food and not because the prices are pretty high. Whenever I go to a new Vietnamese place, of course you wanna check out the pho, and I always get the number one, which has the beef the beef tendons, the tripe, and I like to add meatballs to it. The servers were nice enough. At the end, even though yelp says they accept credit cards. They actually don't just cash and Zelle. The food was absolutely terrible. I don't know what they do with the broth, but they did not prepare it correctly. The noodles were bland. The meat was bland. They might as well have boiled it and gave it to me with a little bit of MSG on top it was that bad. In short, we will not be going back there again. There is something to say about when you go into a restaurant of a certain culture and the people who are from that culture or country are not patronizing it. It's probably not very good. One of my favorite places to get take out when I'm feeling under the weather or on a cold night! Hot egg rolls and soup always hit the spot. This spot is tucked away in the foothill ranch food court but it's been a solid spot for Vietnamese food. Service is always quick and they package up everything you need to go! read more

My family has visited Maison de Pho since it first opened. The movie theater next door was closed a few months ago so traffic to the whole food court has dropped quite a bit. I am happy to see Maison still has a steady stream of customers coming in but it has cut back on its staff. I ordered my usual - #1 pho with everything. This place got 4 stars on Grubhub so I figured it would be fine. Overall, the food was okay considering we are not in an area known for Vietnamese food. The prices were reasonable (minus the grubhub fees). We got the fried wontons, pork and shrimp spring rolls, pork chop rice plate, pho with rare beef and brisket, vegetarian pho, crispy noodles with chicken, and combo fried rice. Pho portions were good, but the broth was slightly bland. Everything else was fine, but the crispy noodles came with the gravy already poured over it. Not only did it make it all soggy, the sauce spilled into the bag. All other restaurants where we have ordered crispy noodles to go, they pack the gravy separately. Your typical Viet menu. Variety of Pho, rice plates, noodle bowls, & appetizers. We tried their spring rolls, egg rolls, fried wontons - they were okay, our party of 5 came to a consensus that their dipping sauces (spring roll & fish sauce needed a little something). Their pho broth was okay. The vermicelli bowls were also okay but we were happy to see that they offered spring rolls as an option. We got their pork chop rice plate that came with shredded pork & meat cake. Option to upgrade to their butter rice. The pork chop was great. Everything else was okay. Service was okay. Worst pho restaurant. Let's start with the service. We didn't even get greeted. The place was not welcoming at all. We ordered shrimp spring rolls, raw beef pho, and Thai tea. The waitress brought our Thai teas to another table who had to tell her that they didn't order it-- it wasn't very good Thai tea. Weak tea flavor and too much ice. The spring rolls were nasty. There was some sort of citrus dressing doused on the cheap, wilted vegetables inside the roll. The shrimp they stuffed in there were small. Definitely not with $6. Furthermore, the peanut sauce didn't taste like peanuts at all. I didn't even want to continue eating the spring rolls for fear of getting sick. Moving onto the pho. The waitress didn't bring us the vegetables until we basically had to remind her. The meat was tough and cheap. I ended up putting some of the small shrimps from the spring roll in there. The soup itself was a 4/10. Nothing special. Overall, would never come back here. So many better options in the area. Beyond Mid. Got a large rare beef pho, noodles tasted like cardboard with wood shavings sprinkled in. Broth tasted super plain and the siracha, hosin sauce and chili sauce all were about 1/4 full with large amounts of crusts around the nozzle. Disgusting. Server was a nice young man but gave me the check 7 minutes into eating before I was done, confusing since I was the only one eating there. Other workers have RBF and make you feel like you're irrelevant. I Have eaten here before but it was so forgettable that I forgot that their pho tasted like regrets & trauma. I ordered several dishes to try: Oxtail pho (their specialty), Grilled Beef w/egg roll served with noodles, and grilled lemongrass chicken with rice. Oxtail Pho ($11 - large) - The broth was light and refreshing and there was plenty of tender pieces of oxtail meat. This was one of the better pho's that I tried, and my YELP buddy, Aaron E. (pho enthusiast) would be impressed! My picture doesn't do it justice as the broth was packaged in a separate container, the noodles in another container, and some additional add-ons in another container. What I have pictured is a bowl I prepared combining a portion of everything. Grilled Beef w/egg roll ($10.50) - The egg rolls here are pork based, so the cashier was kind enough to substitute the egg roll with a spring roll for me. The grilled beef had a sweet bbq flavor and tasted great and went well with the bed of noodles. Grilled Lemongrass Chicken ($9.50) - This dish came with plenty of chicken served with rice, although I was expecting the flavor profile to be a bit more bolder. Overall, I really enjoyed the food at Maison De Pho. Who knew that righteous pho could be found in south Orange County? My fiancée and I try our best to support small businesses as much as possible and I try to steer away from leaving bad reviews. However, our experience last night was so horrible that I also need to share like many other poor reviews left for this place. It was Sunday night right before closing, but they also were one of the very few options in that shopping center that was still open. When we went inside, we weren't even greeted and stood there for a few minutes until a woman came to take our order. It appears this woman does not even know the menu there. I ordered the grilled beef vermicelli with the egg roll and my fiancée ordered the short rib rice plate. The woman asked us to show our order on the menu, which I thought was odd as she seemed so confused what we were ordering but I thought at least it's a confirmation to ensure our food will come out correctly. Our total came out to nearly $50 for our two entrees and two drinks. I was a bit shocked given the environment of the restaurant but let it pass as restaurants have increased prices a lot due to inflation. We sat outside and we received an order of the egg roll appetizer. That's when I realized that they got our order wrong since I ordered the grilled beef vermicelli with egg roll, not an appetite order I'd egg rolls. The egg rolls were edible but it was filled with vermicelli noodles and a little sprinkle of ground pork. Not the usual egg rolls I'm used to. Then our entrees arrived. The woman who took our order did not charge me for the grilled beef vermicelli with egg roll but instead charged an egg roll appetizer and their soft noodle stir fry with beef. The stir fry was completely inedible. Everything was slimy, overcooked and bland. There was an orange iridescent film on the beef that was a complete turn off. My fiancées order came out correctly but again, everything was completely over cooked including his short rib. The quality was horrible too as it was mostly rough tendon and no meat. Everything was so bad that it wasn't even worth bringing up to the restaurant, especially since they were closing. We left without barley touching our food, which we both hate to do, and went elsewhere to grab something to eat. All the poor reviewed for this place are accurate. read more

I walked in and the cashier was laughing and chatting it up with the cook. Turns around to me blankly and rudely as if I was an inconvenience. She doesn't even speak to me. Prob one of the worst places I've been to for pho. I was at the dentist across the street and was craving pho so I figured I'd give this place a try. When I got there, there was not a single person in the restaurant other than the workers, who by the way, we're not Vietnamese. Nothing against that, but when I ordered what I wanted, she asked what number it was. NOT a good sign. We had to order prior to sitting down, which is fine except for the fact that you have to tip upfront for food/service that you have no idea would be good or not. I tip 18-25 percent normally depending on the food and service so it was hard to decide what to give a place before actually trying the food and seeing the service. So far though, service was off to a bad start when the girl taking my order didn't know what I wanted unless I told her a number. I saw down. And she immediately brought out a plate of herbs. Actually it was literally one lime, a couple of jalapeño slices, and a sprig of basil. No bean sprouts or any other herbs that you normally eat with pho. (Maybe this was northern style pho where you don't get any herbs, but then why bother bringing basil)? Then literally 30 seconds later the pho came out. I mean that was the fastest I've ever been served so I'm not complaining I guess. The broth had no flavor to it whatsoever. I had to dump sriracha and fish sauce into it. The meats (even the rare steak) was overcooked and tough to chew through. And the portions for what I paid ($12 for a small) is not normal. Maybe because I'm in a nicer part of town. I was so excited when the server handed me my to-go order coz I took a glimpse of my two rice combo plates, and both looked really delicious. I rushed home and planned to devour my food in great anticipation, but I was so disappointed because it tasted so gross! I ordered two of their rice combination plate with SHREDDED PORK + EGG CAKE + GRILLED PORK, and the other combo plate with same except with GRILLED BEEF. I also ordered their EGG ROLLS. The Shredded Pork SKIN on both of the rice combo plates were spoiled. It was so DISGUSTING! So I immediately trashed it so not to contaminate the other dishes within the plates. I was so hungry that I still ate the Grilled Pork and the Egg Cake despite the rotten Shredded Pork Skin that was in the same container. However, I could not stomach the Egg Cake because it was so salty! So, I ended up wasting the rest of the plate except for the Grilled Meats. Same goes for my son's plate--the Shredded Pork Skin was also spoiled which was also trashed. Luckily, my son liked the Grilled Beef and didn't mind the saltiness of the Egg Cake. Gladly, the Eggrolls were okay. They weren't very good, but at least they were okay to eat. I am so disappointed about this place, and will never come back. We've been going here since we moved to FHR 8 years ago. To our surprise, the Pho was very good--especially for south OC. The fried rice was good, and egg rolls/spring rolls were decent. Michael always took care of us, and the orders rolled out very FAST, even to-go orders. Fast forward to Covid--Michael stopped working there, and the place changed. Now, 2022, it depends on who's working the register. Sometimes you'll get a very rude, and unfriendly shorter Hispanic girl that will take your order... but with an attitude like it's the worst day of her life. But, every day she works........ is the worst day of her life. There's no "thank you", no basic customer service. Just a terrible interaction from start to finish. One time I asked for some extra "Sambal" hot sauce and she shoved packets of Sriracha in my bag. I asked again for the right stuff only to get a "I did!" and eye rolls, sighs, and just rudeness. That's like going to a Mexican restaurant, dealing with an Asian employee who doesn't speak Spanish, knows nothing about the difference between Cholula and Salsa Verde, and then gives you attitude and a bad experience. Strong work guys. And finally, the food. Our go to has always been Oxtail Pho. It's good. Or, it WAS good. Now it's just so fatty and questionable that we ventured to just get Brisket instead. Now, towards the end of 2022, the Brisket is as hard and chewy as a rubber mud flap on my pickup truck. The egg rolls are now served on TOP of a bed of lettuce instead of separately. So the egg rolls are now soggy, and the lettuce is warm and wilted. And you're lucky if you get mint leaves anymore. There's no quality control, and everything is far from being authentic. I understand if prices go up because of inflation and supply chain issues. But that's no excuse for poor customer service, and bad food quality. Maison de Pho, you make me sad. This place has been ruined by what ever the new ownership is it used to be the best pho in the entire area and now it's completely flavorless with no meat... It's like T instead of bone broth and the previous owner used to take pride in his recipe and the fact that they cook the bones all night. We're regulars, and usually don't have any complaints. However, with rising prices for ingredients, it seems like some places reduce the quality/quantity and/or increase prices. The quality of tonight's #2 pho (rare beef and brisket) was very disappointing. The normally delicious broth was very bland (are they diluting it with extra water to save money?) and the pieces of brisket that I got were ridiculous (see picture of the meatless brisket they put in my pho). Seriously, what kitchen puts that cr@p into a dish that they're serving to a customer? I hope they see this review and realize that, yes, your regulars know when you're going cheap! Well we decided to give this place a shot. In hindsight a restaurant that sells fish and meat without ac might be a sign that the food may suffer. I ordered just a small broth. As I am trying to lose weight, my girl ordered egg noodles with pork and shrimp. To our surprise we both got large bowls containing something close to what we ordered. She receives rahmen noodles with beef and shrimp. I got a large bowl with much more then broth. We both got the trots and sweats. As I write this my girl is rapidly losing weight on the toilet.
