I know everyone loves their online glasses retailers and trying on it home can be convenient but I'm not a fan and prefer to purchase glasses in person. Largely because I'm very particular regarding initial adjustments when you get new glasses. I always feel new glasses will fall off my face and nine times out of 10 they're crooked. The glasses themselves might not be crooked, its probably me but nonetheless the situation needs attention. I wasn't sure what to expect going into my appointment because of covid. All the rooms were sanitized and I felt totally comfortable. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to try on glasses but they have a nice system where any glasses you try on, that you don't want, you put in a certain basket and they sanitize them. I'll be ordering a new pair very soon.

More details below, but my experience here was the most professional medical experience I have had for many years - with one minor exception. The first place I went was where my cataracts were diagnosed, but when I called them to confirm my follow up appointment the next year it was not possible to just speak to a person. The second place left me alone in a room for a long time, the doctor asked me no questions and did not seem to have read my history. After a screaming match erupted outside the door, I knew I would not be back. The third try was not lucky either. After more than six months and my pre-op appointment, just days before the surgery I was contacted by an uninformed underling telling me that it was being canceled without any explanation offered. After I demanded that they contact my cardiologist and PCP they tried to reschedule it for deep in the winter. I no longer had enough trust in their professionalism to proceed. While the medical team at Eyecare Medical Group was absolutely A+ at all times and the scheduling office could probably use a better check list. It resulted in a temporary glitch that was worked out quickly and with extreme good graces. In the end I would do it all over again if I had to, but my vision came out practically perfect, so sadly I won't be back. They have created an exceptional template for handling out-patient procedures that the rest of the medical industry would do well to follow. P.S. As I was going in for my first appointment a gentleman and his wife were walking out. Unprompted he told me it was a great place, which proved to be accurate!

Deceitful billing practices, unfriendly doctors, BAD and inaccurate medical advice, etc. My first problem was their doctors contradicting each other about a major problem. One recommended surgery the other recommended I "wait and see." Well which one is it?! They wouldn't discuss with each other to see why they had such radically differing opinions. The most recent problem I had was a bogus $100 "contact fitting" charge. All the doctor did was reorder my same lenses. She didn't actually fit them or even discuss the lenses with me. Now I'm having problems with the fit of my contacts and have no recourse without wasting even more money with them. Avoid this practice at all cost! They are deceptive and don't care about their patients' health.

The wait time has been minimal (if at all because the providers seem to run on time) and Dr. Liem is super nice, knowledgeable and a good listener making sure my questions are answered. Front desk staff and other support overall are professional and friendly. Our only complaint would be we wish they had even more glasses frames, particularly sunglasses to chose from in-house. I ended up getting mine at the slightly larger Portland location in the old port- something to keep in mind that each location may have a few different options to check out if you don't see what you want at this one. When ordering glasses it took about what they estimated time wise. The glasses are good quality glass lenses and are a bit more expensive than other spots we have been to over the years. He diagnosed a bad retina and sent me to Maine Eye, that afternoon I had emergency retina surgery so I'm very appreciative! Recently, we dealt together with weird stuff that turned out to be another retina issue that required more work. I recently referred Wayne to go there - he's fussy and has not had good luck with the practice he was going to. I confess to being rather nervous - but he sent me a text after the appointment and said "love him". So all is well! Wayne is now in a daily contact lens that allows him to NOT wear (or lose all over the house) his reading glasses. Yay, Dr. Roush!
