We came to Kutztown for a wedding and only booked a one night stay. The staff was very friendly and really made us feel welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated and give it that old world charm without losing the modern conveniences. We stayed in the Deisher suite on the top floor, which included two fireplaces (one in the ginormous bathroom with claw foot tub). The room itself was smaller but was more than accommodating. Each room has WiFi, TV, and a white noise generator. There is breakfast every morning, and the food is wonderful. Though we didn't meet the normal manager "Pam," because she was on a much deserved (from the sound of it)vacation, her two beautiful daughters took great care of us. I'm not sure why you would ever come to Kutztown, but if you do..you should most definitely stay here.

In fact, I'd say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences ever. You walk into a beautiful, updated, wooden space that is warm and inviting. The rooms are redone in a very classy, vintage style. Nothing over the top, but a perfect balance between comfy and elegant. Head downstairs for some fresh cookies and wine glasses. Open up a bottle of your favorite vintage from one of the dozen or so wineries located nearby, including Folino Estates. Draw a nice, warm bath in a bear claw tub, relax and sip your favorite sparkling wine. Or enjoy the night in the outdoor common area. After a good night's sleep, wake up and enjoy a simple breakfast in the dining area and start your day hanging out on Main Street or heading out to the wineries. I recommend going when the nearby university isn't in session. But if you visit on a weekend during the semester, the Inn offers white noise machines to help ensure you have a relaxing night's sleep as well. A wonderful experience for a couple's getaway, or a great place to rent multiple rooms if you're having a reunion or wedding nearby. Can't wait to head back again.

We did a search for B&B's in the area and took a chance on the Main Street Inn. We absolutely fell in love with this place! The owners were adorable and extremely pleasant. We would always ask for a particular room which we fell in love with. There was another wine festival that we wanted to attend this month (April) and decided we would give the new proprietors our business. We booked the same room and at the time while making the reservations on line I mentioned that we would be checking in between 5:00pm and 5:30pm (we went to the wineries first). We received an email giving us a four digit number which would give us access to the outer door and to our room. We arrived at the Inn at about 5:15pm and used the four digit number numerous times and couldn't gain entry to our room. We called the manager Amy five times and left several messages and no response. We waited for an hour and a half before someone came and apologized for giving us a wrong code! When we got into the room it was decorated differently but it was neat and clean. There is no excuse for us to wait and hour and a half when it states in the email that if we are need of anything or having any problems to call and no one answers the phone. Note: My girlfriend remembered that the new owners owned an winery in the area and she called and spoke to someone within the winery and advised her of our dilemma and five minutes later is when the manager Amy finally called and ten minutes later a nice young lady opened the door for us and apologized for the situation. I want to be clear I was extremely frustrated and the Inn did lose a little of that Kutztown charm but it was nice and clean and I really like the small town charm of Kutztown!

The Glassburn Inn, located in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, is a beautiful historic hotel, and you can truly feel its charm and character the moment you arrive. When we first pulled in, there was no snow, and the entrance looked absolutely picturesque and welcoming. From the start, the staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The next morning was pure magic -- we woke up to freshly fallen snow and the most gorgeous winter view from our room. It honestly felt like something out of a postcard. The combination of the historic charm and the snowy landscape made it even more special. Our stay included a continental breakfast, but don't let that description fool you -- this was anything but ordinary. They offered made-to-order omelettes, eggs cooked any style you like, crispy bacon, home fries... it was a full, hot, delicious breakfast and such a treat! The birthday party was held in another building on the property called The Dairy, and it is absolutely beautiful. The Dairy can accommodate up to six guest rooms and features a large living area, a spacious dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen, along with an outdoor deck. It's perfect for gatherings and special celebrations -- private, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. With all the snow, my car just wasn't cooperating. Although the grounds were well plowed, I couldn't make it up the hill. Once again, the staff went above and beyond -- they graciously drove us up to The Dairy so we wouldn't miss a thing. That level of service really stood out. If you're in the area and looking for a relaxing getaway at a beautiful historic inn with outstanding staff, the Glassburn Inn in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania is absolutely the place to stay. The pictures truly don't do it justice

Unfortunately, for a special anniversary stay separate from any party, it was not the relaxing getaway we had hoped to have. The property is indeed beautiful. We walked around a bit hoping to enjoy the "trails" on their property map, but they weren't well marked. When we thought we were on a trail, it would abruptly end in lawn. The staff is friendly, but seemed a little disorganized. We called to confirm our reservation earlier that day and they couldn't find it, so we made another one for a more expensive room since our original choice wasn't available. But when we checked in they gave us our original, smaller room under a reservation that was still there. To their credit, they did fix it so we were not charged for two reservations, and we chose the larger room after all. Our room was in the Pack House. It was airy with a high ceiling and comfortable bed, a mini fridge, and a balcony shared with the room next door. The DirectTV and A/C wall unit were a little clunky to operate, but workable. The main issue for us was the noise because there was a party room downstairs. There are quiet hours posted from 11 pm to 7 am - and not long after 7 am (on a Saturday morning!) there was loud music that ruined our morning. My guess is it was early morning wedding prep, and it was technically not breaking quiet hours, but unwelcome for us "outsiders" nonetheless. On the brighter side, breakfast was included in our rate and was very good. In addition to light fare of pastries, fruit, and yogurt in a small buffet, we got to pick an entree from a large menu of options. Our entrees were simple, but good. Check out was easy and I was asked if I wanted a printout or email. I requested email, and over 24 hours later I still haven't received it. This is a pretty good reflection of our experience: promises that were not quite delivered, leaving us mostly disappointed, especially for the cost. If you are not part of a wedding or event, I would not stay here unless you are okay with disruptions.

We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the most visitor-focused B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in. It sounds obvious to say that, but it his place really puts your money to work to make you enjoy your stay. We just got back from a weekend at Frog Hollow and while the house and grounds are still fantastic there were a few minor miscues and one major problem overall that likely will lead to us never returning. 1. When I called to make the reservation I spoke at length with Mitch while he went entirely into TMI territory in regards to Patti's father (I really don't need to hear about catheters, infections, and his entire medical file when I'm calling to make a simple reservation) and to me that is just bizarre seeing we are not family and we had only been to their B&B one time prior for only one night so we are not even friends. We barely know them and they barely know us but yet I'm getting the whole medical file and history? 2. During this call he asked if there was anything for breakfast that we did not want to see and I let him know that we both disliked mushrooms immensely. We'll I'll be damned if for breakfast this past weekend he didn't make omelets that had mushrooms in them our first morning. My wife being the trooper and demure person that she is decided to eat most of them to be nice where as I disassembled the omelet to pick out all of the offending fungi. Why ask what we don't like if you're going to serve it anyway? It's a three room B&B not the 1949 room Marriott Marquis in Times Square. It shouldn't be that hard to keep track of guests requests, likes, and dislikes. 3. Mitch has an Alpha Male attitude problem. Meaning that if certain topics are discussed he is completely not afraid to show his disdain/displeasure for your itinerary or in particular the place you went to dinner that evening. We had gotten back on Saturday night and after he asked where we went I mentioned that we had gone to particular touristy spot amongst our travels because it held some sentimental value for us and his reaction was to scrunch up his face and very condescendingly ask "Why" while shaking his head. Duh you douchebag, I just explained why. The place in question holds meaning for us. Maybe it doesn't for you, great. And if it doesn't shut your mouth and be hospitable. I've been in the hospitality industry a whole lot longer than him and if I were to question guests and pass judgement on their dinner plans, itineraries, etc. like Mitch does I would offend a whole lot people the same way how he offended me with that and also with his constant pining need to be right and to jump in and interrupt where ever he feels it's appropriate to add his opinion as he did on more than one occasion when I was speaking with Patti. I guess maybe if we were more like most of their regular clientele in that we were over 55, have either grown kids or no kids, or be successful wealthy yuppies instead of more blue collar folk than maybe we would have been seen as "worthy" and not have gotten talked at or down to by him on a few occasions this weekend. But enough of the rant. I guess it's one of those things where you had to be there. Breakfast on day two with fruit parfaits, sausage, and ricotta pancakes was much better and that's not only because it was mushroom free. Overall the location, house, and grounds at Frog Hollow are superb. While Patti tries her best to be hospitable and to show interest in her guests it was clear to me early on this visit that Mitch either somehow did not like me/us or because we were not his age/status/economic peers he was just going to be sour and that's fine because it's their house and he can say what he wants the way he wants in his house. But obviously we will vote with our wallet and that very likely will not include any future stays at Frog Hollow due to an inhospitable and cranky owner.
