What a cute little old diner in downtown Frankfort. People running this store were super friendly and attentive. Even worried about the lovely Mrs sitting at the table right in front of the door so promised her she'd move us as soon as another table became available. Speaking of, seating is limited. But well worth the wait. The food was amazing and the costs were way less than the normal anymore. The Mrs orders French toast and I ordered the big breakfast with just about everything you can think of for breakfast. Kudos to the kitchen staff for their speediness and our server for getting it to us still steaming. Food was incredibly tasty. We would for sure go back when we come back to town. Before kicking off our bourbon trail adventure, we needed a good, hearty breakfast -- and Main Street Diner totally hit the spot! I grew up in Georgia, so small-town diners always have a special place in my heart. They remind me of grabbing breakfast with my dad back in the day. Main Street brought all those memories rushing back. The food was exactly what I hoped for -- simple, tasty, and made right. My sunny-side-up eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash browns were crispy, and the sausage and toast rounded it all out just right. Everyone in our group loved their meals, and every plate was wiped clean. If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time. My granddaughter went with a chicken tender kids meal that comes with fries and drink. My daughter went with the pork chop dinner that comes with two sides. My wife went with the adult chicken tenders meal wow I did the avocado, bacon burger, onion rings. This is a Military friendly restaurant. The floor is falling apart . The service we knew we was in good hands when the lady took our order without writing it down and absolutely nailed. While in Frankfort for the Great Race watching the antique cars go by, what better place to grab a bite to eat than this cute little retro diner. The waitress was friendly and hard working running from table to table making sure everyone was taken care of. We had the fried green tomato BLT with a side of sweet potato fries and a chef salad with blue cheese dressing. We split both and the waitress graciously provided an extra plate. The salad was huge, fresh and delicious! The BLt was full of bacon with a crisp fried tomato, juicy and delicious. Coffee is traditional diner coffee - think Folgers ground in the can. That home-cooking approach works for the food, though. I had a homestyle omelet with mushrooms and cheddar, has browns, and biscuit. My husband comes here whenever in the area for the Monte Cristo sandwich, which hr can't find too many places anymore. This is a cool diner in downtown Frankfort on Main St., hence the name. When you walk in, you are immediately transported to the U.S. 1950 by the decor. There are vinyl LPs and 45s tastefully displayed on the walls along with album covers and memofrom the 50s, 60s and 70s era. Also the music that is playing takes you back to those years. I walked to the window at the back of the dining area and was immediately greeted and asked if I was dining-in or taking out. I ordered an omelette with sweet potato fries. I was so happy and surprised to see that they (sweet potatoes) were on the menu. The portion size was just right. When I first saw the meal, I thought it was too small. Then, I realized that most restaurants give HUGE portions (for an entre) and I always take food home. Usually from one normal restaurant dinner entre, I eat three more meals from the leftovers. So, this meal portion was for one meal only and I appreciated that. The omelette was not overly salted and neither were the sweet potato fries. So, I could taste the flavor of the food without it being drowned in heavy, fatty sauces. I really enjoyed this dining experience and I can see myself returning to try other menu items. read more

I particularly enjoy the salads, and have enjoyed the Cobb salad with grilled chicken, chicken fried steak dinner, and the BLT salad. Staff were friendly. She had the tenders and I had chicken fried chicken. Wife said they were too salty. I believe mine had same batter and wasnt terribly salty but these chicken was over cooked but still edible. Ok one small complaint the toast was it buttered but I usually don't finish it anyways. My wife got the biscuits and gravy and it was really tasty, she said the best she's ever had. Me and the family had just scored some nice bourbon from Buffalo Trace when we decided to come into town to eat lunch and check out the downtown Frankfort area. The decor here is pretty awesome. Like walking right into a 50s diner and the walls filled with classic musical artist and records. Our service here was top notch. Our waitress may have been the most charismatic and personable waitress we've ever met. Big personality and big smile on her face the entire time. Full of positive energy and vibes. Almost made it impossible to have a bad time. Food wise we started with a cheese stick app and the cheese sticks were really tasty and had a nice flavor. I personally went with breakfast for lunch and got the Monte cristo which is a basically a fresh toast game and cheese sandwich with jam on it. Very tasty and fresh sandwich. My wife went with a traditional Cheeseburger to get the authentic diner feel and she was a happy customer. Very fresh and yummy cheeseburger. I nibbled on it and you can't go wrong with breakfast or lunch here. The baby got a small kids Mac and cheese and she ate most of it which is always a win. This eating establishment is a 50's retro themed diner in the heart of downtown Frankfort blocks from the Old State House. Several of the albums featured in the decor either my wife or I actually had at one time in our respective collections. I ordered a typical breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit with gravy on the side (the cholesterol special didn't disappoint). I was in town from Las Vegas, Nevada to attend my cousin's funeral. He was a longtime resident of Frankfort, Kentucky. I ate here for breakfast before the funeral. We stopped by Main Street Diner in downtown Frankfort to fill up before our scheduled tour at the Buffalo trace Distillery (ya know, in an effort to not drink bourbon on an empty stomach). When we walked in, the diner had several un-bussed tables and what appeared to be only one server. This was later confirmed by our server and she also appeared to be running the register and preparing carry out orders, so I cannot fault the slower-than-expected service - and seriously, since the start of the Pandemic, this is so typical that I hardly think one should single out a particular restaurant for staffing issues - seems par for the course these days. At any rate, we found a clean table and took a seat. It took a while to order our drinks but our server was friendly and apologetic. Had we not been in a time crunch this would have been no issue whatsoever. Our food was good, but rather plain. Then again, it's pretty much what one would expect from a place called Main Street Diner. There was nothing to complain about either. We liked the retro vibe and décor and the restaurant - aside from the above-mentioned dirty tables left by previous customers - was quite clean and well-maintained. Overall, I would recommend this diner to anyone looking for breakfast or lunch in Frankfort, with the hope that staffing does not remain an issue. The location, the ambiance and the friendly service are worth it, and food is just fine for a classic diner. read more

place smells like pee, the floor is about to fall in. we have been here 40 minutes waiting on onion rings and one other appetizer. it's also very dirty in here, the walls have filth on them, you can barely read your rug anymore it's so gross! The service was good, our waitress smelled of very bad cigarettes and was off putting to us. The menu left a lot to be desired, the food was bland and cool, we all had different types of omelettes and we all agreed the veggies had to be frozen because they were so watery and mushy, the eggs themselves were not cooked well and lacked flavor. Coffee was worse than McDonald's and the OJ was even worse. I can not recommend this place, it was $60 down the drain! read more
