One of my favourite places in Omaha! We usually go for the Tom Kha with Chicken, spring rolls and the Bangkok noodles but you can't go wrong. Can't go wrong with medium spice. Their mango special always seems popular. Have been here multiple times and I hope to come back again and again. read more

Walked in and wasn't sure if they were even open as it was a ghost town. Like zero people at 7:15 on a Saturday evening. Server was awesome (albeit a little too casual), food was great. My date was unimpressed with the beer selection and we stuck with water. The server commented that the bar was woefully under stocked so they couldn't make a lot of cocktails. We were the only dine in customers but there seemed to be a steady stream of take out orders. This place has potential to be amazing. My usual fav thai place, Thai Kitchen, was closed on Sunday, and I had a craving for thai food, so my husband and I thought we would give Mai Thai a shot. We came in and were seated immediately, however the service was sooo slow. Not sure why since we were 1 of 3 other tables seated in the whole dang place. We waited for about 10 minutes to even have a waiter acknowledge us, and then once they came over, the girl who took our order said, "what do you want?" Not personable at all. As we waited for our food, 2 tables right in front of us sent their food back. At the table closest to us, the woman sat there waiting for her food (we overheard that it was cold) as she watched her husband eat his food. He ended up finishing his food and she STILL hadn't gotten her food back! So they ended up leaving without her even eating! When we finally got our food, my red curry was a good temp, but by the time I was half way through eating it, I did notice that it had cooled off considerably. I'm not sure why, since I never have a problem with the temp of the food at the other thai place that I regularly visit. Along with this, the chicken was super dry. While we ate, we noticed that they didn't answer their phones, since it just continued to ring and ring. On top of that, a couple people came in to pick up their orders and one of them ended up waiting for the entire time it took us to eat! Perhaps he showed up early, but based on everything else I had witnessed, I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't have his food ready in time. If I could only eat at one restaurant for the rest of my life....this very well might be it. I know this is old news, but they have enlarged this location by renting the space next door and knocking down a wall. In the process, they've also updated their look to be modern, appealing and similarly dressed to the Aksarben location. One thing I'm sad to report is the prices have also gone up a tad and I believe they're equal to the prices at the Aksarben location. Alternatively, I'm pleased to inform you that nothing has changed. Inside is clean, ambience is right, service is good, and food is STILL impeccable. You literally can't get anything bad here. On my most recent visit (Tuesday evening) there were maybe 4 other tables and service was a bit slow. The reason? They had to go orders up the wazoo and I had to change which dish I was ordering because my server let me know it would take an additional 30 minutes to prepare it. Nonetheless, the food arrived quickly and tasted of perfection. I'm going there for lunch today so I'm very EXCITED!!! Also...try the Mango Bubble tea. Great service and great food. Was seated very quickly. Nice remodel job its very much more open now. Had the Crab Ragoon with sweet chili sauce and it was awesome, and then Chicken in The Mud dish. Really like the fried rice over the regular sticky white rice. The Ginger and Garlic Chicken dishes are good as well. Drinks are good too, carry a wide variety of beers, and or course, they can make you a Mai Thai! read more

My husband and I went there to have dinner for his birthday. It was our first time to go there to try their food. We enjoyed the food. We ordered Egg rolls, Mango fried rice, red curry and for drinks we ordered Rum and coke and Jasmine tea. They poured too much rum in the drink but the food was so great that we let it go of it. The service was nice. They didn't make us wait for our food. The only minus was that it's cold if you sit near the door. Some people didn't even take off their jackets the whole time they were there. This place never disappoints me. The food is phenomenal, especially the noodle dishes (Drunken Noodle, Pad Thai, and Garlic Noodles are all wonderful). Another great feature of this place is quick and easy take out - anything can be ordered in advance off the menu and they do a great job of packaging up your order and consistently having it ready when they promise. As with any Thai restaurant, I would not recommend ordering dishes more spicy than a three star here unless you happen to chase your dish with a gallon of whole milk and have access to a fire hydrant. They are very liberal with use of spices once you get into the 4 and 5 star range! A great little gem in West Omaha, and probably the best Thai in town. read more

Interesting. Who would have thought that a place in Omaha, NE would be good for thai food. We stopped here on the way to the airport. It's a nice looking restaurant, which was pretty full on a Sunday noon-time lunch, when we left. The speediness of our food was great- our dishes came out fast. We got the basic pad thai and pineapply curry. We ordered shrimp with the pad thai- and I was really surprised how BIG the shrimp was- usually you get tiny little shrimp (and usually you're going, what? where is it?), but not here! The noodles were just the right amount of spice at a spice level 3- just spicy enough, but not burning your mouth spicy. We also got the pineapple curry with chicken. It also was pretty good- the curry flavor I felt could have been a little stronger, but nonetheless, it was good. The thai ice tea drink I got was a little too sweet though- could have had more spice and less sugar. Overall, a pretty solid place for thai food (who would have thought...really, Omaha?). 4 stars for food, but 1 for service...yikes! My bf and I were in Omaha for the BRK shareholders meeting, and passed our remaining time in Omaha by catching Avengers at the Aksarben theater next door, enjoying some live music in Stinson park, and grabbing dinner here at Mai Thai. We walked in the door--and found no host or hostess at the front. It was a few minutes before someone actually acknowledged our presence, and seated us right next to the door. We were left alone for a VERY long while, before anyone came by to take our order (5 to 10 minutes after we'd put down our menus). Another few minutes before we were given place settings (odd timing--especially since a waiter put place settings on the two empty tables next to us...but apparently didn't want us to have napkins or forks). Food took awhile to get to us--and there was a few minute gap between our two dishes (which was the norm here, it seemed--the neighboring table got their four entrees spread across 10 or so minutes). So all in all, everything was slow slow SLOW. What was really strange, was that contrary to all other services here at Mai Thai, the check came to our table before we were even finished eating. Food was fine--I got garlic chicken (which was very, very garlicky--but tasty!) and the boyfriend got pad see ew, which was good. Anyways, I was glad to find a little Asian flavor in omaha (even if it's not totally authentic). Hope that they'll shape up, so their service can match their dishes! read more

Quick note for Asians or Asian food lovers: they have pho here! Pho is hard to come by here in Omaha and I personally don't like to judge pho when I can make some pretty good homemade pho. Nevertheless, I still find myself craving it when I'm too lazy to make it myself. It was a little bit on the salty side but I try to reduce my salt content when I cook so my palette might be on the bland side. Some pluses where they had ngo om which is an herb that I'm used to getting with the plates of herbs in addition to the Thai basil. Legit pho places usually have this. They also used fresh pho noodles which is chewier side vs the soaked noodles I would come back for the pho. I know....pho in a Thai place? Give it a chance. They also have a bun Bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) that is pretty darn spicy and had blood cake too. Its not 100% authentic (missing the pigs feet) but still tasty. Weird, but so good. All the Vietnamese dishes are on the lunch menu so you have to ask for that. Had the catfish clay pot and the fish wasn't the freshest but flavors were good. I'm used to good Thai food and this was good average Thai food which probably means really good for Omaha. Don't get me wrong, food in Omaha is quite good! It's just the Asian places which disappoints me as far as quality, seafood choices (no more tilapia please!!), price, and restaurant options. This place was good though, will be back. read more

I am not one to usually order the same dish every time I go to a restaurant, but... holy buckets, I Love the bangkok noodles (aka garlic noodles) here. I usually order a 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale~ since the order is so big, I get enough for leftovers, and when you reheat them, even spicier~! Service about half the time is completely awful. There's no lying about that. But go for a late lunch on a weekday, and there's no problem. You get all kinds of people going here for their Thai fix. I know I'll be back! read more

Mai Thai is a fantastic restaurant. They have fresh ingredients, good service, and the food is always excellent. It can get busy for lunch which can take a little longer, but that's what you get at a popular place. I've tried several dishes on the menu (pad thai, basil fried rice,crispy chicken, crab rangoon) and all have been superb. My favorite Thai restaurant in Omaha. Dishes such as "Chicken in the Mud" or "Garlic Noodle" or "Garlic Chicken" will please 100% of the time. Flavors dance on the tongue in an elaborately choreographed dance of carefully considered cuisine. I will say that curry is not their strong suit, for that I go elsewhere. I put Mai Thai's food among the best Thai dishes I've had, being edged out by only two establishments (one in Portland OR, and one in Kenosha, WI). Hands down, best Thai food in Omaha! Tom Yum Gai, Chicken in the Mud (with Tofu and veg), Pad Thai, Pad Prik King, Asparagus Delight, Panang Curry...all simply delicious. I think we've had everything on the menu at some point. Service is great. They are SO friendly. Food is consistently good whether you eat in or carry out. My family would eat here all of the time but it gets a bit pricey because we way over order since it's so hard to decide what we want! read more

So disappointed with my last visit. This was one of my go-to places for business meals and I've been craving a visit post-Covid. Finally went last week and what a let down! My mango chicken had seriously two small pieces of mango and wasn't the flavorful dish that I had come to expect. My guest ordered garlic chicken, but received a different chicken dish from another table and didn't realize it wasn't correct (was trying to be polite). Out of diet pepsi, no big deal but just another little thing that added to the disappointment. And they weren't busy, so I hope they get their act back together. I really wanted to be able to give this place a better rating but the customer service levels really prevent me from being able to do so. On a positive note-the mango rangoons are DELICIOUS!!! The thai iced tea I had was very tasty as well! I ordered panang curry with chicken as my lunch item, spice level 3 (they go up to 5). The curry had good flavor, seemed more watered down that what I prefer. The chicken had a really weird texture to it, perhaps it was boiled-I'm not sure-but it wasn't my favorite. Also, apparently this place recently went through some renovations, I think the décor and ambiance are very sheik and can really entice customers to certainly give it a try on the fact that it looks good. I have been to Thai Kitchen as well as Taste of Thailand prior to my meal here and I would say Thai Kitchen has the best food so far. read more

GOOD THAI IN OMAHA? NO WAY! So happy I finally tried this place out! I have been dying to, but my boyfriend has always been afraid to try Thai after I swore he would love Vietnamese and he didn't...but he just isn't the adventurous type when it comes to food. Anyways... This place is tiny, 10 tables, maybe. But it doesn't feel cramped, still plenty of space between the tables. We ordered the veggie Eggrolls, which were perfectly cripsy and jammed back with vegetables, without the grease falling out as you bite in that you will find at most asian places around here. I ordered the Basil Chicken at a level 3. It was delicious, though a little spicy even for me, a spice fanatic. (I ordered low having read reviews prior) Most Thai restaurants I have been to in Omaha use minced chicken, which is always overcooked and honestly just freaks me out. But here there was not a mincer in sight! =] My boyfriend, being a creature of habit, went for the sweet and sour chicken. Usually pretty boring, but I took a bite and YUM! That sauce was amazing. For those those that have only had the Chinese bright red sweet and sour--you are in for a great surprise! So much more flavor and also at a spice level of 3, it was perfect. Weird, it seemed quite a bit less spicy than my meal, but I think it had to do with the other flavors in the sauce mellowing the heat. Service was adaquate... but every table was packed and they constantly had at least 2 people waiting for take out, so I am not holding it against them. I want to give them a 5 (and hope to soon!) YUM. Perfect amount of spice and I loved every bite! I had the Garlic Chicken noodles and it was delish. The rice soup that they served before (which was free) was very tasty. I am sometimes wary about the freshness/quality of meat in Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants, but at Mai Thai it was just so fresh and had the right amount of flavor. Mai Thai is a favorite spot for my wife and I. We try many other thai places in town and we always end up coming back to Mai Thai. The service is great, and very friendly. They serve a ginger chicken soup for an appetizer that they don't normally sell by it's self. My wife is pregnant and the only thing that sounded good to her was that soup. Well, they made an exception and gave it to us and it made my wife a very happy woman. The chicken in the mud is always my go to dish. I highly recommend it!!! read more

Bought a few entrees for take out and I was disappointed with the seafood fried rice considering it cost $17. There was enough seafood in there but the flavor was not good at all. It's just fish sauce salty but it's not tasty at all. Salween Thai fried rice is way better than mai Thai, too bad Salween is closed on Sunday. The other 2 entrees I got were the red curry and the pad Thai. They were decent. They're good but not excellent. But 3 entrees cost almost $50 and they didn't even put disposable wares and napkins in the bag. Come one mai Thai.. . I won't be going back to this place for a while. By far, my favorite Thai place in Omaha. I've been on the search for the best Pad Thai and this place beats them all. I've surveyed some and either didn't like the type of noodle, or most would put too much red spice that it almost had a ketchup taste. I always get the pad thai here and love it. It can be a little two sweet for some tastes, but it is great. I also love their chicken satay! Great marinade and in my opinion, better without the sauce included! Thai iced tea had a sweet, vanilla flavor that my husband really loved! He got the Thai red curry. Went for dinner last Friday night. It wasn't packed by any means and there were only 2 servers, who seemed confused about whose table was whose.. still got pretty crappy service. My date ordered Hot Curry Chicken, which wasn't curry like in the least, but was very Fish Sauce forward. My Panang chicken was good on flavor but very broth like instead of a creamy curry. I wanted to order extra rice but never got checked on in a timely manner. The manager came out and informed another patron that one of the cooks just quit and walked out and maybe that had something to do with the service and overall vibe, but based on this one experience, I will not be going back to find out. read more

I ordered pad thai with shrimp, my mom went and picked it up because she was in the area(we live in Bellevue) When she dropped it off the pad thai was with chicken and there was an order of egg rolls, after I asked her how much she paid for the order I knew she received the wrong order. I called them to let them know I received/paid for someone else's order. I just wanted the shrimp pad thai. The manager than called me from his cell phone and told me I need to bring the food I received back to them in order to receive the correct one and that I wouldn't receive a refund for the egg rolls. He was rude and didn't have any intentions on fixing a problem that they created. read more
