We went there late evening and the ambience was pretty dark for a family dinner. Food was great they have non spicy option for kids which was a plus. Only think is the sticky rice coconut sauce was salty and I was expecting it more sweetness for a dessert with just enough salt for a kick. The mango Salad was good, the lettuce chicken wrap was pretty good for a healthy option. Family owned Thai restaurant in a strip plaza in Lundy's Lane. First time here and we ordered the following: - Shrimp chips - Chicken satay - Glass noodles - Green curry beef - Pad Thai chicken and shrimp Shrimp chips are not authentic, they are the ones you buy at Chinese supermarket - not Thai shrimp chips. Also very very oily! Chicken satay is ok but they need to work on their peanut sauce. Not thick enough and salty. Not enough peanuts. Glass noodles had a lot of chicken and veggies, and taste was ok. Pad Thai was a bit dark and slightly more about that usual, I suspect that they used a lot of tamarind. However it still tasted good and they don't use ketchup Green curry beef is a bit suspicious looking. The green curry was thick and the colour not natural looking. Almost feel like it was instant curry powder or supplemented with a ton of corn starch. Definitely a bit odd - I've ground curry paste before in Thailand with mortar and pestle... I am really confused about the 4 star yelp reviews because I had a terrible experience. The hubs and I visited on 5/25/14 for dinner. Our meal actually started out okay. We ordered the Mai Thai Platter and the Lemongrass Soup for appetizers. Both were delicious and we were singing our praises to the waitress. However, our main entree was a HUGE disappointment. We ordered the Spicy Noodles which tasted bland and the meat had an odd taste to it (possibly going bad?). I don't know how they could make the dish so bad, but they did. I have never returned a meal to the kitchen, until that night. My husband had never done it before either. Unfortunately, we were still charged 50% for that dish. Our waitress explained to us that the cook said it tasted fine. I love Thai food and I know what good Thai tastes like (I've spent several months visiting family there). I also don't expect Thai food to be 100% authentic outside of Thailand. However, I do expect it to taste good and be edible! I've had plenty of Thai food that didn't taste authentic but still tasted good. I also think that it was rude of the restaurant to charge us anything for that dish. We thought it tasted awful but it was our word against the cook. My mom has owned a Thai restaurant in the past and my husband's family has owned a Chinese restaurant. Ok Let me say that Niagara Falls is a tourist trap and restaurants in the tourist area charge a ridiculous amount for the sub par service and food quality that you get. One thing is for certain that the people leaving these reviews don't have a clue what Thai food should actually taste like.I am surprised that they didn't charge me the tourist tax...im sure they have built it is the price. $17 for a very inadequate portion of Chicken Pad Thai...Imagine the taste with me if you will....over cooked fettuccine( they dint even use rice noodle) some sort of red sauce that taste like watered down Ragu out of a can, some scallions, about a half a dozen twice cooked chicken chunks, some beans sprouts and they were nice enough to add some crushed peanuts for good measure ( see pics) for an unappetizing visual! I should have went to Magnolia down the street for Shanghai Noodles but the intrigue to try something new got the better of me. Note to self don't listen to the little inner voices in my head....bad, very bad! It is a shame as they have been around awhile but have no clue on how to operate a Thai restaurant....If you want Thai go to St.Catharines to Spicy Thai, Chang Noi's or Sahla Thai. I came here on a Saturday at noon with a party of 10 after reading some good reviews. Most of the table got lunch combos (includes a deep fried spring roll and a drink); I got the seafood salad with a Thai Tea (not a combo), though I tried the Pad Thai and a spring roll. The table and dishes were clean, and the decor is typical Thai. The seafood salad was tasty with four good sized mussels and some squid. There was a lot of cilantro, cucumbers and red onions, which I enjoyed, and the sauce (strong on the lime) was delicious. What was not good was the chopped up limes scattered throughout the salad. Lime skin is not normally edible, so why are there small (5x5 mm) chunks all over the salad? It was very difficult to pick out because it blended in with the cucumbers and cilantro, so I ended up picking out a ton of hard cubes of lime skin out of my mouth. Had there been no lime skin, it would've been perfect. The Pad Thai was definitely...different. It was very thick from the sauce, which tasted a lot like barbecue sauce, rather than the usual ketchup. Maybe some people like it, but I thought it was bland and reminiscent of a cheap grill house's attempt at Pad Thai. The spring rolls tasted like they were from Manchu Wok. Not good - typical cheap vegetarian spring rolls (i.e., strong cabbage taste). I would not recommend them as a side order, nor would I recommend a combo if you're justifying the price with a spring roll. The Thai Tea was weak. I'm all about Thai Tea - I could swim in that beautiful orange liquid - but this tea tasted watered down, like they didn't steep it long enough. It was $3.50 and definitely not worth the price because I can get better Thai Tea in a $1 can. Another person at my table who ordered the green curry with white rice noted that it was extremely average. Green curry definitely isn't their specialty...and really, I'm left wondering what their specialty is, since no one in our group of ten was left saying "wow" about any menu item. The service was friendly and attentive and there was no wait with only two other tables filled, which is why I am giving three stars. However, our bill was not correct, with $11.50 in extra drink charges that should have been included with the meals. They charged $2 for Coke and $2.50 for Gingerale, but on the menu all pop is listed as $2. They were apologetic when we pointed out that we were overcharged, and refunded us without any issue. They provide lychee hard candies after the meal, which I enjoyed. I wouldn't make a point of coming here again, but I'd definitely choose it over the wayyyy overpriced IHOP down the street...as if anyone would be choosing between IHOP or Thai food. read more

We are having the time of our life here in the Niagara Falls, ON and Toronto. We have yet to encounter a bad tasting restaurant and/or bad service. Mai Tai is nicely situated store that's easy to find with plenty of parking. We were seated immediately and given our water while we perused the menu. Once our waiter (who was a nice guy by the way) returned we placed our appetizer order and within 7 minutes he returned and took our entree order. Both dishes came at the same time. I would like to quickly mention that the atmosphere is nice and laid back, clean, and well maintained. Once our food arrived it was heaven on earth! We ordered the Chicken Spring Roll and the Spicy Noodles and we added chicken and shrimp. Absolutely wonderful meal. The noodles has basil spice and the right amount of kick to the sauce to leave a pleasant taste. I would definitely recommend you try this place because it's away from all of the touristy areas and priced reasonably well. read more

I went here with my mom for a little getaway from the busy streets of Toronto during the labor-day long weekend in 2017. My mom had reserved this table because of the rave reviews on YELP. However, once we got there, no one showed us to our table. Instead, one of the servers from across the restaurant asked us if we had reserved a table. When we said yes, we were pointed to a section of the restaurant. Unsure of which table we were headed to, we just sat down at a large booth meant for 6-8 people which had a 'reserved' card on it. The lady server was very rude and short. We did not try to make long conversation but she was unhelpful and treated me like a child when I asked for more water. I waited for the longest time to get her attention for ordering, asking for water, asking for soya sauce and another server settled our bill as she was busy talking to different server at the bar the whole time. The food: Did not at ALL resemble real thai food. There was no thai basil in ANY of the food we ordered and the sauce had a very thick processed consistency. In fact, they had the same sauce, just mildly altered, in two different dishes. Their peanut sauce was gross and the best thing about the meal was the shriracha and plain jasmine rice. Came here with my parents on vacation. We enjoyed the food greatly and being the only people that actually ate in the restaurant (many takeout customers came and went), we had excellent service. The green curry was excellent and despite my choosing Tofu as the 'meat' of the dish it turned out quite filling and with the right amount of spice. My mother had the pad thai which turned out average to me, but she enjoyed it. My father's experience with the pineapple rice was decent. I didn't think it was that good either- the pineapple flavor was not at all sweet, the fruit pieces were hard, and the rice was just like any old fried rice. The one redeeming part of that dish was that the cook had accidentally put in both chicken and beef, but the waiter waived the cost after asking if we still wanted it. I'm guessing most people come here for the takeout because it's convenient. Paying by credit card is a hassle, as it's a portable card sliding machine. My parents were a bit miffed that the automatic option to tip 15% had tax incl. in that calculation. It felt greedy. read more

Don't be fooled by the crab rangoons as there is no crab in it, just cheese. The green curry was ok but nothing special. The pad thai did not look appealing and tasted like I was eating noodles with ketchup. The glass noodles saved the day and was by far the best dish. The prices for all dishes were reasonable as it was the lunch special and that's the only time I would recommend going. Not far from the crowded tourist madness of Niagara Falls, there is Mai Thai Cuisine in a strip plaza on Lundy's Lane. I have visited twice in recent months, and plan to return soon. Service is very friendly and efficient. The large banquette seating is nice. They have cold Singha beer which is always a great way to start a Thai meal in my opinion. I love their fresh rolls. The beef and broccoli stir fry is also very good. I highly recommend the green Thai curry with chicken, which comes with a side of rice. The sauce on the pad Thai was a little sweeter than what I am accustomed to. For a strip mall restaurant with plentiful free parking, Mai Thai is a very good choice. read more

Cons Tom ka ga soup had tons of CELERY, and little flavor Pad Thai was cloyingly sweet and consisted of noodles, sauce, 5 shrimp and 1/3 of a scallion. No tofu, no dried shrimp, no pickled radish, NO EGG. Yellow curry was gloppy with corn starch thickening. Over cooked potato and carrot. Ordered extra spicy and came out as a 2/10. Fried tofu came out barely warm, tasted like fried chicken. If you're looking for 4 star Thai, you will be disappointed. Sorry. read more

So me and my wife came here for lunch on our anniversary because we both wanted good Thai food and it was listed at 4 stars. I ordered Pad Si Ew (not sure if I spelt it correctly) and what I received was over cooked noodles, over cooked dry beef, and extremely burnt sauce. Like it didn't even look edible. But I was served it like it met standards. I sent it back. The next one was tremendously better, however it was still subpar. The sauce was bland and tasteless, and the meat was once again over cooked (assuming they remade it). This was by far the worst experience that o have ever had at any Thai restaurant across the United States, I do not recommend it. Do not be fooled by the other reviews. If you are visting Niagara Falls, ON, stay away from the tourist area restaurants and come to this place!! The food in the tourist area was mediocre at best and super expensive. My gf and I found this gem three days into our vacation using yelp and I am so glad we did. The atmosphere and staff defintely make you feel welcome... What we had: Shrimp Fresh Rolls - Holy Sh!t is all i can say. So good with that sauce! Crispy Noodles - Unusal dish but that sauce, that sauce was so good and spicy! I almost drank it out of my dish! Pineapple Fried Rice - I have never had anything like this dish before and so different than many fried rice dishes. Definitely a must try! Thai Ice Tea - Very good, tasted super fresh. Our waitress was brand new and almost poured water into my gf's sprite multiple times but I caught her from doing it! She was pleasant overall even with the newness errors.... They came with sweet chilli sauce instead of peanut sauce, and they were made with cilantro instead of mint or basil. Pad Thai- so it generally comes with chicken and shrimp but I asked for just shrimp. She tells me they charge extra cause shrimp is more expensive. No problem. Yo there's three shrimps on this thing!! Lol that's it? Chicken curry - chicken curry is yum. It's got chicken and bamboo shoots n green beans n kaffir lime leaves, no complaints there Mostly just unimpressed with my three shrimp... For this I return three stars. The Coconut soup was really good they use lime leaves which I've never tried and really good. The Pud Thai excellent everything was great all around we had a group of 6 and the prices are very reasonable. Their peanut sauce is better than some in the area, and their satays are better than the deep fried ones at Jasmines on Niagara Falls blvd. in Amherst, but thats really not much of a recommendation. The staff always seems bored and act as if they are doing you a MASSIVE favor by doing their job. (Ive been 3-4 times, hoping that maybe my experience would get better. It hasnt.) Also, you can no longer call in a to-go order unless you are using a credit card. Yummy Thai in Tonowanda is a much better option, though its really not that wonderful either. I can't honestly give them anything higher because I only ordered the crispy tofu appetizer, which was delicious, but I wasn't hungry enough to get a decent amount of food. BUT, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable -- the waitress answered our questions honestly and really knew her menu. As previously stated, I ordered the crispy tofu appetizer and a lychee juice drink. My boyfriend ordered the Thai spicy pork ribs. Within 5-10 minutes, our food was out!! We were super impressed with the quick service; there was a family of about 15 at the restaurant, so we thought we'd have to wait. John's only "complaint", per say, is that the ribs weren't really all that spicy. If we had ordered more, this place would have most likely got five stars. read more

I usually order the Pad Thai which is good, however, the sauce is sometimes too sweet than savoury for my taste sometimes. There was a specific Lunch Special Menu with very affordable pricing. For lunch I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and veggies and the combo came with choice of appetizer and drink...$9.99, plus $3 for the added shrimp to my Pad Thai. Food was delicious. This was one of the best Thai restaurant experiences I have ever had! The decor, atmosphere and quality of food felt authentic. The fresh rolls were not bland like they can typically be, the green curry had a lot of chicken along with the veggies and included just the right amount of heat with a hint of coconut milk. The Hawaiian Fried Rice is a MUST TRY!! Absolutely delicious! We just stumbled across this place when having to find a new dinner restaurant after the sushi place down the street was closed and what a delightful surprise!
