    Soft shell crabs
    Darby C.

I brought my wife's family here for dinner to celebrate a birthday. For larger groups it's best to call in for a reservation. Our table was ready when we arrived. We ordered the thai ice tea which is one of favorites. It has just the right balance of steeped tea, sweetness and carnation evaporated milk. For appetizers we ordered 3 soft shell crabs. You can basically eat everything including the shell. The crab was meaty and had a light batter. So addictive. We also ordered the calamari which consisted of pineapple cut calamari fried to perfection and not too oily. It was served with a thai sweet and spicy sauce. Main courses we ordered, chicken green curry, drunken noodles, lemon chicken and red curry. All of them were seasoned well and taste is was just right. Green curry has a unique twist as they put pineapple chunks in the curry broth. Great balance of sweet and savory. The thai basil and coconut milk elevates this dish and makes it stand out. If you like curry then definitely give one of these a try Drunken noodles with beef was also a hit. Be ready for a punch in the face. This dish got some heat. If you have high tolerance for heat then this dish is the bomb! Overall we enjoyed our dinner and service was exceptional and super friendly. We always come here whenever we make a trip to Niagar Falls or Niagara on the lake. This understated restaurant packs a big punch and serves some really delicious thai fare. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed.

    Beef pad thai

My family and I dined here a bit over a month ago when we had visiting family members and we all enjoyed our dining experience here. The restaurant had a nice ambience and Thai decor all around with statues, plants, bamboo walls on some booths, and gold accents. All of these elements provided a nice backdrop and wasn't over the top. Service here was also welcoming and pleasant throughout the night. The food was also really good and the portions were generous for all the dishes that the family got. We started with the fried calamari, which was perfectly fried and slightly spiced. For mains, I got the green curry chicken, which had a nice kick to it and the curry was the perfect texture. I'm also picky about whether chicken in my curry is cooked well and not chewy - this was done just right. I thought it was interesting that this curry had grapes in it since I don't usually see that in green curry. I liked that this dish came with rice since this comes separately in other Thai restaurants. My husband and some other family members got the pad Thai, which was flavourful and a very good portion with lots of beef and noodles piled on. The only con is that the area is run down and a bit sketchy at night with dim lighting in the nearby streets, so just be aware of your surroundings. There were several police cars circling the area and by the convenience store beside the restaurant the night that we went there (apparently not rare). Other than that, this place is a gem in a run down area!

Went to spicy Thai on a Wednesday night which happened to be vegetarian special night where you can get 3 course for $18. This includes an app, a main and a dessert. I ordered this special. I got Tom yum soup, green curry and dessert. The soup was good, and chalk full of veggies. The Curry came with rice and had lots of flavour. I couldn't eat it all so got the left overs to go. Dessert was some sort of tapioca and ice cream. The service was good, we didn't have to wait long to get our food or to have our drinks. The drink menu could be upgraded by adding a few local beers on tap.

Pad Thai with chicken (medium spice) and Spicy Thai Coconut Noodles with chicken (medium spice)

Spicy Thai is consistently delicious and fresh. My dad and I have been coming here for years, for both lunch and dinner. It is not a cheap place but there are specials on certain days of the week, such as the 2-can dine for $35 on Tuesday. We got the salad as the starter and two entrees: pad Thai with chicken (medium spice) and spicy Thai coconut noodles with chicken (medium spice). The salad is SO good! Which is not something I say often. The peanut sauce is made in-house and the flavour is incredible. My other favourite dish is the spicy Thai noodles with veggies and tofu, medium spice. So so SO good! The location is in a bit of a rougher part of town, on Queenston St in st Catharines but we always park across the street at the old Delta Bingo & we never have any issues.

Visit: 08/03/2017 around 6pm Thai Tea -delicious! But a tad too sweet for my tastes. I let the ice melt a bit before sipping more. Crab Rangoons -there are some greens in here which make it very refreshing and less heavy feeling Spicy Thai sampler (for four) -chicken satay -beautiful grill marks -hint of lemongrass, I believe -liked this a lot -egg roll -good. No further comments -springroll -fresh greens -dumpling -(didn't get to try it) Beef Salad -pretty good Tom Yum Soup (w chicken) -wonderful! Wish it was a little more sour, though. Green Curry (w beef) -there are grapes in it! Interesting. Volcano Fish -not really my thing. The others in the party really liked it though. -has a sweet n sour kinda sauce with it Lemon Chicken -I would call it more of a mayonnaise chicken -I really liked this dish - would definitely recommend. -The chicken has a nice crisp on the outside Chicken Fried Rice -it comes with shrimp and chicken, but we had someone allergic to shellfish in the party. -very standard Kow Soy (?) -curry with egg noodles -yummy, but very soup-y; recommend eating it with rice Gravy noodles (w thick noodles) -yes! Love these types of dishes. Overall, everything was very good. I found all the shapes of things amusing. Some of the plates were tear drop shaped, and the rice came in square pyramid shapes. Our server, Janine, was very nice.

They asked what level of spice we wanted but in saying mild to medium we may have lost out on flavor. Table for 4. We started with soups, Tom Yum was salty and lacking lemongrass. Edible but you'd be hard pressed to guess that it was Tom Yum. The coconut Tom Kha soup was better. We shared an eggplant dish, noodles (pad see ew) and red vegetable curry along with rice. Everyone seemed to enjoy the eggplant but mixed reviews on the pad see ew and curry vegetable. Mostly it was just that the dishes were uninspiring and bland. The decor was somewhat drab, clean but lacking any charm. Prices were a touch on the high side but nothing shocking. We went here for a late lunch after a Shaw festival show and were starving and basically chose the first restaurant we came across. We definitely regretted our choice and should have kept going to find a place with better food and ambiance.
