Food is great, and the appetizer chicken satay is an event + delicious! Missing the cucumber on the side, but the peanut sauce is amazing.

I've had their Pad Thai before and it was awesome, but I had it last week and it was terrible, the shrimps were really small, there was maybe 2! The tofu was hard and tasteless! I grew up in St. Catharines and complained quite regularly about the dearth of good food that wasn't North American. Well, when I first tried Sahla Thai a bunch of years ago, I was blown away by it. Now, to give full disclosure, a friend of mine from high school does run it, but it makes no difference as far as the quality of the food goes. The restaurant began in a smaller location, but has had to move to a much larger one. Let's get on to what is important about the place: the food! It is outstanding! Yes, that's an exclamation point. Even in Toronto, I haven't found a better restaurant and I've tried many. When I'm back, I try to make it there. It helps my best friend only knows one person who really loves Thai, so I always have someone to go with. I have never been disappointed by anything I've eaten. I would highly recommend the curries, especially the pannaeng. It's all amazing. It seems I'm raving somewhat, but I went yesterday and was horrified to find it was not listed on Yelp! I had to remedy that. Now, I wouldn't travel to St. Catharines just for Thai food, but if you're there, you will not go wrong with Sahla Thai. read more

Come here for the value, ambiance, and good service. This is not a fine dining restaurant, but was wonderful for what I wanted in a local Thai place in a small town. We ordered: Thai Rolls (veg): peanut sauce looks like turds but taste like heaven. The fresh rolls: the sauce is quite sweet but good. Pad Thai (veg): tofu texture was great, the variety of veggies was great but they were from frozen. Mango fried rice: delicious tasting fresh mango. The ambiance is lovely. The booths have hard seating and tables that are awkward distance away from you, so I'd recommend sitting at a regular table. Service was great, fast, and friendly. read more

The quality of this food has always been fantastic and I am grateful they are still open amidst the changes that are taking place for local businesses. Would recommend any dish I have tried them all. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. This restaurant is one of my favourites, I always come here regularly and love the food. The atmosphere is great and the location is good. The food is very quick and comes between only 4-10 minutes. Only problem is the price of food maybe should be lowered by a doller or two. But it's worth it and is a great place! I would suggest getting the pad tai level 2 or higher if you like spicy. And a chicken fried rice level 2. These are both my favourite dishes here. read more

I've eaten here a number of times with friends and family. The wait service has been great every time we've been, it's both fast and friendly. I usually stick with beef dishes but the other night I decided to get a stir-fried Sahla Thai chicken. The sauce and vegetables were nice and cooked just right but the dish was spoiled by the chicken which had been boiled prior to being added to my dish. The boiled flavour in the chicken was very evident in another dish as my companion had a chicken curry and remarked on the chicken's texture and lacklustre flavour. I'd eat here again but definitely wouldn't order a chicken dish. Usually if we go out for Thai food we patronize Spicy Thai as we feel the quality of food is better (the wait service can be a bit slow though). read more

I have a friend who swears by Sahla Thai, but it's just not my bag. Maybe I keep ordering all the wrong things from the menu, but I've tried something different each time over at least 3 visits and I haven't particularly enjoyed a single dish. I prefer Spicy Thai, which is still only maybe 3.5 to 4 stars these days. They also need to jazz things up over there, they've become quite stale, but I'd pick that over Sahla Thai, and in a pinch I'd prefer to walk around the corner to Amakara for Japanese over mediocre Thai food if I'm downtown. read more

The best authentic Thai food of all of Ontario! My husband and I travel all the way from Brampton to St. Catherine's for their fabulous Thai dishes. It's all in there spices, the best spice mix that your can't find anywhere else. This is the only spot my family and I go for real thai food. The best place for Thai good in St. Catharines and the Niagara area! Nice ambiance, good food, great service. This is my go-to place for food on any given night when we don't know what to cook/eat. The have good customer service and food tastes good for the most parts with some inconsistencies with the spice level. Our daughter who lives in town suggested only from word of mouth rather than personal experience. We tried (only because our fave Chang Nois was closed that day) and was very disappointed. Two meals were sent back. One tasted like it came out of the dirty dish water. And.......what good Thai restaurant puts crinkle cut carrotts in their curry? Decided to be a nice Mom and pick up lunches for my 2 (older) children at work at 2 different locations. Ordered 2 different Pad Thai meals, one being vegetarian. No problem so far, until I delivered one and on my way to deliver the other when I was contacted enroute by one child to be informed it was NOT vegetarian. Well, neither was the other! So back I go to pick up the wrong dish and return it. To make a long story short, I spent almost an hour getting this corrected, redelivered, and much time and gas wasted on this error. Seriously, how hard can it be to get just two orders correct??? All I got from the restaurant was "sorry". No compensation for the time and money wasted on fixing THEIR error. Obviously no concern on their part. Thumbs down to them. Definitely will not be providing them with any future patronage at their restaurant. There are many many other Thai restaurants around (Spicy Thai one of my favourites!) that I can frequent. read more
