So what brought us to Maholi? My lovely wife started looking for baby bedding last week and went to places like Pottery Barn Kids and IKEA. The worst place to shop is at IKEA because many of their baby bedding is made from polyester which is a bad material for new born. Not to mention IKEA is like a zoo on weekend and can be difficult getting around if you're pregnant. Pottery Barn Kids however is much better in quality and service is way better than IKEA but my wife hates their tastes and looking for more designs. In came Maholi.
Maholi specializes in bedding, ranging from pillows, sheets to duvets and duvet covers. Thread counts starts at 230 and goes all the way to 800. Anything higher than 800, like 1000 you see at Wal-Mart or anywhere is a bunch of bull crap. I find it odd that Maholi's 230 threat count sheets is much softer and feels like silk than the 1000 thread counts at box stores. Many of the box stores that carries high thread counts feels rough and when you wash it, it becomes even harder. Maholi's sheets for some reason gets softer and softer when you wash it. This is quality. What blows me away is that their products is made in house and MADE IN CANADA. You don't see that in the box stores, all of their bedding suppliers are made in China or somewhere in East Asian countries. My wife and I will hands down support Canadian companies. What is interesting is that Celine Dion orders from here every year and their salesperson mentioned she ordered a $15K duvet called link down in super king size. Must feel great sleeping in a $15K duvet!
Maholi's duvets is also top notch. The salesperson who works there says that their down comes geese in Alberta whereas other bedding companies uses down from ducks. Down in geese is much warmer and lasts longer than ducks. One other thing is that a duvet that is filled with goose down, you can sleep with it in summer whereas a duvet that is filled with duck down will make you sweat like you're in a steam room. The salesperson also mentions that Maholi makes sure their supplier are corporate socially responsible on treating the animals. Many bedding companies around the world imports downs from Hungary, Albania, and even North Korea where they live pluck the geese. PETA, where are you? My wife and I was glad to hear Maholi does not buy from these suppliers and that their suppliers is also from Canada.
Regarding the baby bedding. Maholi also makes bedding for babies. They also customize and tailor to your needs. I have to ask, do big box stores do that kind of service? My wife and I made $1K order on down pillows, 600 threat count sheets (feels literally like silk), 600 threat count - 800 fill power white goose down duvet for our baby. As mentioned above, goose down duvet does not make you sweat in summer. Our new born is going to feel happy and warm. Wish we came this past December so we can invest on our bedding. We will definitely come back to buy more for my wife and I.
