Stopped by the other day with family. It was quite busy with COVID going on and for a Saturday. The staff was really moving and there was some seating. The staff made sure the sanitize everything. It has a good view and wide selection of drinks. Reasonably priced for Block Island. We came here twice and would totally come again. They are right behind Payne's and the taffy shop. They are also located on a dock.

Favorite bar visited on BI. Why? Because of the beautiful setting on Payne's Harbor. Bright and inviting space. Kind of hip, more so just brand new with cute lights and a clean bar/sitting area. Cash only, and you will have to pay for each drink up front. Lots of straight forward drinks kind of new classics like Tito's with a splash of lemon (the Jona-thin). Love the sense of humor mixed with nice vibes. Def not a divey bar, at all. Come here to start the night, and look at some gorgeous boats docked. Enjoy!

I updated for extra lobster. Sooo good. Now the service. Personable and attentive. Our waitress was genuinely pleasant. I'm sorry I forget her name. She's tall with dark hair and you will know it's her from welcoming smile. I'm not a drinker and she had the bartender make me the best margarita mocktail, after I told her to surprised me. The reason for the 5 stars is we came back the next day for lunch and they were busier and the service and the food was the same. True consistency. We usually come in the summer. I have my fav restaurants on the island. They are is now in my rotation. See you there.

We had the clam chowder, crab cake sandwiches, and fish sandwich. The clam chowder was good and definitely homemade, this was the only good dish of our meal. The crab cake sandwiches didn't taste like crab at all and were extremely mushy. It seemed like it was all just breading or filler, but we didn't get any crab meat in the sandwiches. The fish sandwich also lacked flavor and was mushy as well. This was an extremely disappointing meal. We will find another restaurant to go to while we are here.

A beautiful porch that surrounds the hotel. Seated immediately was a gift from the big man upstairs. They were definitely busy. But, we managed to get a seat for our 5 people. We were seated outside in the back of the porch. There was a lot of room to move around. Once seated we viewed the menu. We all opted for a few things. The street corn Quesadilla, lobster bisque, ancient grains bowl, Chicken Caesar Wrap. We opted for no desert and went elsewhere to spread the wealth. The food was good. They do what they can we the resources they have. It can't be easy with the way they have to get supplies in and out, and keeping things fresh. Overall everything was good. No complaints if you keep that in mind. The wait staff was ok. I think they maybe have been overwhelmed, which in turn our waiter went "missing" to the point where we had to ask someone for something and it turned out to be the manager. Otherwise everything was ok.

I especially love sitting outside, where you can watch the ferries come in, people strolling by, and catch a gorgeous sunset over the water. This time I brought friends along, a group of 11 including three kids. Since it was the end of the season, the place wasn't crowded and we were one of the few tables outside. Our waiter, a kind young man with the cutest British accent, took excellent care of us. He managed our large group with ease and made sure the kids' meals came out quickly. Every dish at the table was a hit, but the standout was one of the daily specials--the fresh-caught tuna. My husband ordered it, and OMG... it was phenomenal. This place is officially locked into my Block Island rotation.

Its a block island staple for sure…read more Located right off the ferry landing you cant miss it. I only ate at the restaurant and didnt use any of the other facilities so will only comment on the restaurant portion. Its got pretty standard beach eats. Menu is pretty extensive. I ended up ordering the lobster roll. It was just okay. The bread just didnt do it for me. Many people in my group commented that the food was a bit salty. Service was great though. My main gripe was the weak drinks. You feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean when you are on this resort but the weak slushy drinks were the buzz kill. Oh wait a minute. No buzz kill to be had because I never got buzzed to begin with. Probably best to stick with drinks thst you know have an exact amount of alcohol. Have a good time everybody.

You can't beat the lively music, crazy waves, and stunning views. Sadly, if you're not staying overnight on the island, then you probably would not know that they offer an amazing dinner nightly from 7 to 10 PM that is worth way more than they're charging. I ordered the filet special for $19 which included filet mignon, fingerling, potatoes, and asparagus. While the portion size didn't allow for leftovers, it was plenty to fill me up after a day of walking around and beaching it. When our server Diana came over to the table to take our order, I explained my allergies. She wrote everything down and personally spoke to the bartender and the chef who were both willing to accommodate my needs. I love a good dirty martini, but because of my allergy to red peppers, I often cannot have a dirty martini at restaurants because the olive juice has had olives with pimentos in them or the olives have been placed with cherries which I'm also allergic to. Diana went above and on by securing a jar of green olives that did not have pimentos and had the bartender make my drinks using that. Talk about exceptional service! When the food was brought out, Shawn, the manager, personally came over to see to it that I was all set. he conversed easily with my husband and me and had us smiling and laughing in no time. That's a rare gift! Ballards is very lucky to have him as a manager representing their establishment. If you're looking for something other than filet mignon, you'll be happy to know that they also offer a lobster special from 7 to 10 PM that is $20. We saw quite a few plates go by, and let me just tell you they were the biggest lobsters I've ever seen!!! My husband and I will be back for sure. He loved his gluten free Mac and cheese with lobster, and I loved my filet! The sunset dinner deals will have us and our friends coming back. This genius deal, stunning view, delicious food, and exceptional service have turned us into new customers!

Instead, you wait in line and order at the bar and they bring it to your table number. If you're looking for a fancy dinner, this isn't the place, but if you're looking for an option in between cheap and nice, this is the place. My boyfriend got the mac n cheese which was $16 (perhaps a little pricey). He said it wasn't very cheesy but personally I like it like that! I ordered the salmon and asked for just farro and corn instead of the succatash and goat cheese and all that, but they didn't bring any farro. I then asked for it and the guy asked me if I ordered it. I said yes, I know I did, and he said he'd go check, but he never came back. After 10-15 minutes I went to find the guy I asked and he seemed confused. He said "I couldn't find her" and I didn't know what he meant, but apparently he was looking for the girl who took my order? I guess to validate that I hadn't asked them to remove the farro? Very odd. A nice employee at the bar told him to just get me some farro (because it's really not that big of a deal) and he brought me a cold small plastic cup of unseasoned farro (pictured). Whole thing struck me as very odd and a little annoying. The dish was $29 which also felt a little expensive, especially without a big portion, but it's definitely more affordable than other places on the island. Overall, great view, but the rest of our experience was meh!
