Amazing staff! Thorough with explanations and treatment plan. I scheduled my treatment right on the spot bc I felt completely confident in their skills. The office staff make you feel welcome and cared about. They all go out of their way to ease your mind. They follow through with what they say they're going to do for you, even filling the paperwork with your insurance to assist in getting reimbursed. I highly recommend their practice. read more

Dr. Mahn is an outstanding periodontist with impressive credentials and the sort of easy, personable demeanor that sets nervous patients at ease. His whole office is a fun, tight-knit group that clearly enjoys the work and each other. I went to Dr. Mahn for a gingevectomy to balance out my gum line post-braces. He was a true artist, making sure my end result was both beautiful and natural looking. His post op care was above and beyond, and the enthusiasm of everyone in the office for my little transformation was so wonderful! Everything healed up perfectly within a couple days and I never needed painkillers. I'm almost sad I have no reason to go back to them! If you're thinking about a gingevectomy, or have any other gum concerns, don't hesitate to give this team a shot. You'll feel like family, and you'll be in good hands. read more

Mahn Douglas DDS - The difference is subtle, but means the world to me - Oral Surgeons Near Me - Manassas, Virginia

Highly recommend! Dr. Mahn treats you as if you were his own family from the moment he meets you and is truly an artist. I have been debating getting a gingivectomy for my "gummy smile" for years and I am so thankful that I found him. He transformed my smile in less than 2 hours and I could not be happier. Both he and his staff were friendly, kind and answered my many questions thoroughly. I truly cannot say enough good things. This office is above and beyond incredible in every way. The result speaks for itself - I am over the moon happy with my new smile. *note: the after photo was actually taken about 2 hours after the gingivectomy. read more

Mahn Douglas DDS - Before and after (sorry for the different lighting). - Oral Surgeons Near Me - Manassas, Virginia

I was referred to Dr. Mahn by my dentist. A few years ago my dentist informed me that I might need a gum grafting and he monitored my gums every time I went in for a check up. Upon my last appointment he told me that I should see a periodontist but there was probably nothing that could me done at this point. I was in tears when I left as I've always been complimented on my teeth and my smile and I have been through so much to take care of my teeth through the years, oral surgery, retainers and braces and to hear this was devastating to me. I was recommend to Dr. Mahn's office and called immediately after that dentist appointment. I spoke to Dori and she told me they could see me the next day. At my consultation I told Dr. Man my dentist's diagnosis and he said, "open your mouth let me see". He said, "we can fix that". I was immediately relieved. He explained to me so much about the gums and teeth and what happens to them over time and then told me my options. We decided on doing the gum grating to fix my problem. I asked if they put you under for this and the answer was no so I was extremely nervous about getting it done. They told me that I could have time to think about it. I spoke to Dori two separate times after my consultation with all my questions and she was more than willing to talk to me and guide me through my fears and concerns. I decided to go ahead with the procedure and don't regret it one bit. All the staff was more than helpful and everything happened exactly as they said it would from getting all my prescriptions, to the procedure, recovery and follow up appointment. I was most impressed when Dr. Mahn told me I could call him any time day or night and although I didn't need to he called me the night after my procedure to see how I was doing. I'm happy to report that I just did my 5 week follow up and Dr. Mahn said that I healed perfectly and the outcome was exactly as it should be. Dr. Mahn gave me a big hug and told me I graduated! I highly recommend this office as Dr. Mahn and his staff are kind, caring and professional! read more

By all accounts: Dr Mahn and his treatment staff are pleasant, helpful and sincere. Unfortunately; his front end staff do not share those same behaviors. Several administrative mistakes were made. When raised to the office manager (Dori); her dismissal, lack of accountability, empathy was shockingly unprofessional. She belittled me to the extreme of labeling me as "ignorant" to "dental process". I guess the dark arts of customer care and communication is something I'm lacking. Good luck...I hope current patients are having a better experience than I am. read more

We absolutely love Dr Mahn and his entire office staff. They are so friendly, and make you feel like you've know them forever. Dr Mahn did an excellent job on my 14 year old daughte's lower (front 4 teeth) gum graft. By looking at it now you can't even notice there was a graft put in, (meaning you can't see where the graft begins and her original gums ends). The surgery turned out beautifully and the after care by both the doctor and his staff were amazing as well. I would definitely recommend Dr Mahn. I myself am also scheduled for a similar gum graft in the near future as well. read more

I just returned from my 6 week check up after three gum grafts and I am very pleased with the outcome. Dr. Mahn was recommended by my dentist and I found him and his staff to be caring, friendly and professional. Dr. Mahn explained every step of the procedure - how and why everything was to be done - and what to expect during recovery. I received written instructions, followed them and everything went exactly as predicted. Dr. Mahn has a great sense of humor which helped put me at ease during the surgery. Local anesthesia was sufficient and, though there was discomfort afterwards (to be expected), I never needed the high-powered Tylenol with codeine. Dr. Mahn called the evening after the surgery to check on my progress and had assured me that I could call him day or night with any questions or problems. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Mahn' practice to family and friends in need of a periodontist. Donna C. read more

Dr. Mahn and his staff are amazing. My 12-year-old son needed a periodontist for a gum grafting and frenectomy. This prospect scared us both but Dr. Mahn immediately made my son feel comfortable and explained all the options to me. He patiently answered all my questions. Once he started the procedure he was very gentle and always made sure to tell my son what he was doing before he did it, and to make sure that my son wasn't feeling any pain. We had a fantastic experience and the results were perfect. Dr. Mahn's office is great! read more

My receding gum line wasn't noticeable, so I put it off seeing a periodontist. But ignoring the problem only caused it to get worse. But as it turns out, gum grafting wasn't so bad. Together with his staff Dr. Mahn provided me with excellent care. A couple of alternatives were discussed. His prices were reasonable, and the follow-up care was better than I expected. I highly recommend making an appointment sooner rather than later. read more

There is a reason why I call this dentist Dr. Mengele. You don't do entire mouth surgery with just novacaine! This was side-to-side gum graft. In the past, I've had oral surgery with IV anaesthesia. No problem. During this fiasco, I pretty much was aware of everything... including the additional novacaine shots and the sutures going in and out and around.... This was an absolute nightmare. I was told that he had lots of "worse" cases, but immediately afterward, he noted that he'd never done such extensive surgery (2+ hours). I was never even offered water to rinse my mouth!!! When I asked for water afterwards, they gave me water to drink. I had to get out of chair to spit it out. I received post-surgical instructions as I was sitting in the chair after surgery, pretty much in shock. I wasn't sure when/which pain killers to take (the Rx was incredibly skimpy). I had to get additional meds for pain from my own dentist. If I'd been told to put ice on my face, I certainly didn't remember. I looked like hell immediately afterward and nobody bothered to clean off my face. They told me not to look in the mirror in the bathroom! Mrs. Mengele told me I looked terrible! My face and neck were swollen and black and blue for about 2 weeks. Mrs. Mengele thought that was FUNNY. She took a picture of me looking like that a week later. Probably for his scrapbook.... As soon as I got home, I was urged to write a review! This sadist advised me to return in a few months to have the lower half of my jaw done. I don't ever want to go anywhere near Manassas again. MORAL: Do not get any kind of oral surgery without IV anaesthesia. Many dentists will no longer use IV anaesthesia because it's too much trouble (for them). They might have to pay attention to the state of their patient! read more

I had 3 expensive, painful failed gum grafts in the same area of my mouth until I was luckily referred to Dr. Mahn. I have no doubt that his absolute expertise has saved me an enormous amount of misery and money. I'm always a complete nervous wreck when I see any dentist because I know I have pretty terrible gum recession in general. Dr. Mahn and Mrs. Mahn instantly put me at ease. I can honestly say this is the only office that didn't try to get me to spend additional money and push extra treatments. The gum graft I had was over a year and a half ago, but I recall that I healed quickly and didn't even have any swelling. I recently went in for a visit and needed to be referred to a dentist. Mrs. Mahn and Dr. Mahn couldn't have been more helpful. The entire office staff makes you feel like family, and I would have spent a ton of money on dental implants by now if it weren't for Dr. Mahn's guidance. I'm extremely grateful! read more

Dr. Mahn is an amazing periodontist who provides exceptional post OP care for his patients. I had to have a complicated tooth extraction, several bone grafts, and a gum tissue graft to prepare the way for a successful dental implant procedure. Dr. Mahn provided wonderful care. He enthusiastically answered all my questions and patiently reassured me with my concerns throughout my treatment. Also, his office staff is terrific! I want to give a special "shout-out" to Dori, his office manager. She is super helpful and so accommodating to patient's schedules. The bottom line is Dr. Mahn heads an excellent practice and I would definitely go back if I needed any further treatments. read more
