They sell cute clothing and jewelry. This is one store that I would definitely purchase from. The clothes in this store all seem to be neutral tones, just my style. I love to wear beiges, white and cream color clothing. I saw this top that I wanted to get. It was white with green flowers on it. It was so nice. It was $54, so not that bad. They also have good sales. They have a 20% off sale rack near the door. Most of the women coming in the store stopped by the rack to take a look. read more

I love to shop local and Mahina is one of the cutest local boutiques - selling women's clothing and jewelry. This Kailua location is very convenient with a small dedicated parking lot shared with some other awesome local businesses. Everyone here is so sweet, attentive, and will hype you up when trying on clothes. I brought my dog with me a few times and they have even watched my dog for me while I was in the dressing room, like talk about customer service! They even have a cute store dog in sometimes too! Price wise, this is what I would consider mid-range. Hawaii has some expensive clothing boutiques -- so with that perspective Mahina is more affordable than some of those super bougie spots. I'd say the average cost of one piece of clothing is probably in the $50-$65 range. I always have a great shopping experience here -- I may come by once every 2 months or so and they are always changing up inventory but also have some core store favorites that are always in stock. read more

Every time I go in the store no one acknowledges me. They just completely ignore me and keep gossiping. It's giving the ick! Never once have I been asked if I need help. This Mahina in Kailua has the absolute worst customer service. Note, this is also not a store for plus size women. Even the "one size fits all" sure does not fit all. Not inclusive. I thought Mahina was a very cute boutique. I left with a couple of sweaters/tops. Mahina in Kailua arranged their clothing by color rather than style. If you wanted a different color of a particular item, you may find this discouraging, but if you prefer a particular color, it was very easy to browse. Nice sized changing rooms and the store was well lit and felt airy, though it is not large. read more

Happened upon this location while driving through town. Julia was amazing. My wife and I had been looking for a specific pair of pants that she had seen at a different location. Julia went above and beyond helping my wife look for the pair of pants and even called other locations to try to locate them. They didn't have the specific pants we were looking for at this location but had a great selection. Julia was able to find a very similar pair of pants and my wife ended up getting them because they looked good too! The pants are great quality for the price. We would recommend this location to anyone looking to treat themselves to something nice! read more

Mahina is both a boutique and affordable! Two words that are not usually linked together! I've visited Mahina at many locations and islands; all are clean and well organized and the items styled nicely. The store has a light and airy feel just like the clothing, perfect for Hawaiian weather. There is always an assortment of beautiful flowing dresses (mini, midi and maxi), shorts, pants, jumpsuits and tops; all in sizes larger than an xxs. Mahalo! In addition to the beautiful clothing, I always find inexpensive accessories that are on trend and pull an outfit together. I've bought beaded bracelets with tassels, acrylic earrings that look vintage, and long necklaces with various stone pendants. There is a straw handbag with a circular handle that I can't stop thinking about! They even have a small selection of shoes and sandals. Always check out the sale rack in the back of the store. So exciting when you find an item you love, in your size, and on sale! Mahina is on my list of shops to visit whenever I am in Hawaii. read more

Walking thru Kailua with friends - the window display caught our eye. Cute shop with a relaxed vibe. Ended up trying a couple things on and got a cute romper. Found out they have multiple locations on multiple Hawaiian islands. The only negative was no greeting when walking into shop and had to request assistance. I love this little boutique store. They have the cutest clothes and at a reasonable price. But what sets them apart from other places is the customer service. Every Mahina store that I walk in to I'm always greeted by the loveliest workers. They are so nice and very helpful. Pretty (trendy) clothing in varying sizes unlike similar boutiques that only carry double the inventory in XS and Small sizes but that's not the reason why this boutique earned a two star rating from me. Upon entering the store I was not acknowledged and throughout my shopping experience no saleswomen attempted any interactions with me. There were four salesGiRLS who pretended to be working when in fact, Kaylin (the only salesperson who was working the floor and interacting with customers) was running circles around her co-workers who were all at the cashier's counter talking about what they were going to eat for lunch at Whole Foods (yea pretty much heard the entire conversation since they were pretty loud). I was ready to check out and I stood in front of them (at the register) all ready to purchase my items all awhile waiting for them to finish up their personal group conversation. It was awkward and inappropriate for them to be putting their business ahead of company business. I'm disappointed that I wasn't offered a Kama'aina discount for my purchases (since they were too busy talking amongst themselves) - it was pretty much a silent transaction and I didn't realize that I was privy to those discounts until arriving home. Staff (aside from Kaylin) were uninterested with sales and more concerned with each other and their activities. Too bad really, since I would've really liked to have spent more time in there buying up more stuff but who wants to dump money into a business when they care so little about customer service. Very cute little shop--I went in because I sure a beautiful color print sundress on the mannequin. But when I saw it in the ship, was surprised that it didn't have adjustable straps. How cheap. Is that even a thing and how much money are they really saving by using precut straps? It's a compact space but with loads of beautiful designs, and of your a standard size and height, which I'm not, you'll likely find something here for a decent price. I love mahina, I've been to many mahina locations around the state. This was the first mahina locations that I've experienced where the customer service was horrible. There were 3 associates just talking to each other. There was no acknowledgement, and no one asked if we needed any help. They were just at the counter talking to eachother. Love love love this store! This particular location had so many cute items! We probably spent about half an hour just looking at everything and then finally trying them on. I love their dresses and accessories - they are all so beachy and chic! Parking is easy out front and they are located next to two other really cute shops (Kailua Moon and SoHa Living). When there's more to shopping than just Forever 21, you won't have to worry about looking like a spring chicken. Thanks to Mahina, I've found that variety and style I'm looking for without trying to look like I'm 21 in my real age. I remember going to my first Mahina store with my good friend on Maui. We shopped like we were kids in a candy store savoring every flavor, style, colors and the accessories in every crevice of their clean brick & mortar. Now I'm obsessed and shop at every Mahina location I can find. The Kailua location is off of Kailua Rd. and Hahanani St. in the same shopping center as Maui Tacos and Teddy's Bigger Burgers with free parking lot. Mahina is locally owned and originally from Maui. The couple first opened their store in Paia in 2006 and voted "best boutique" for 7 years in a row. Living in Hawai'i where the sun is always shining all year round, we need those soft flowy dresses, pretty tops and mind blowing accessories. One of my favorite things is finding uniquely made statements in a boutique. But what's hard is finding something I really like and leaving it behind due to its outrageous price. Mahina have their fair selections of expensive items and some reasonable selections. I love shopping at their 20%-50% discount racks (located at the door entrance, or small racks by the fitting rooms). On those sections I've found dresses and tops in my size and style for a steal. I've returned several times for accessories ranging from $3 and up. Their strappy sandals are nicely chosen to pair with the perfect ensemble, as well as purses and clutches at good quality. The store is clean, organized and brightly decorated with an ocean beach aesthetic. Kawehi was kind to assist me with all of my clothing needs whether it's for just for jumping around in or something special. One of the times I've visited, I found a top I adored. They didn't have the right size at their Kailua store but is avail at the Waikiki location. The staffs on both ends were kind to arrange for me to pick up the top at their Waikiki location. On a different time, I've forgotten one of my favorite necklaces inside their fitting room. Kanani happened to be working the shift when I called about the necklace. She located the item inside the fitting room and kept it safe until I picked it up almost a week later. I'm immensely please with their customer service. I'm a huge fan of following their social media and tend to find outfits and accessories I like. Each Mahina location has their Instagram. They're very active in responding in regards to any questions a customer may have. I've found a handful of items I wanted them to reserve and try on at the Kailua store. Should they not have the piece avail, they will call all stores on the island for a style and color check and do an instore delivery. I love the attention to customer service in Kailua. Not only the clothes and accessories are displayed nicely, but the store is clean and organized. Accessories are decorated throughout the store. Be prepared to do some thorough searching. Some of the mannequins may be wearing some of them. I recommend visiting any of their stores if you're ever in the spirit of shopping. Admittedly, their stuff is cute and that's what drew me and my friend in in the first place. However, the sales associates lacks any type of customer service skills. No one greeted or even acknowledged our presence when we first came in. That pisses me off because I work in retail too. Providing good customer service means actually acknowledging your customer. I found a pair of cute pants, but opted not to purchase it because of the lack of customer service. Not sure if the sales associates get commission, but you guys just lost a sale there! Bad business. I have found my new favorite boutique in Kailua. It might just be one of my top favorites, actually. The store recently opened last week and I just about love everything in there. Whats great is that these clothes don't look cheaply made, and they are set at a good and fair price. There was some stuff that I looked at and thought, "really? only that much?" It averages around $20-50 for their clothes. They also have the cutest belts, purses and jewelry. There's a good amount of dressing rooms for the size of this boutique. It was PACKED when I went....which only means they are the real deal and worth checking out! You can find a few "going out" pieces, but theres very few. Thats not really the style of this kailua location. A lot of their clothes have a beach feel, organic and feminine, floral-y inspiration. A lot of solid colors too! You'll see that sundress make up a large part of the clothing selection. But don't worry, there's active wear like yoga pants and shorts! =] My favorite part is that they only use those recycled bags to put your purchase in, and not plastic. I agree with many other comments ...a very cute boutique but the customer service is just appalling.....yes they say "welcome" but beyond that they could not be more disinterested in helping....they are too busy chatting to each other about their social lives and never offer to put anything in the fitting room or check on you regarding sizes. I could not believe the disinterest and complete lack of any customer service!! I sincerely hope the manager/owner reads this as the service associates are a reflection of this business and they clearly have no interest or desire in helping customers. read more

Adorable and affordable! Great place to pick up some really cute clothes. They have a great selection of tops, pants, shorts and dresses that are perfect for the island lifestyle! They also have a nice selection of handbags, jewelry, scarves and shoes. The sales associates are very friendly and incredibly helpful. Have been in there several times; staff have always ignored me, too busy socializing among themselves, so after this consistent treatment I felt like I had to say something! It would be nice if they would check in with you, especially in the dressing room. I agree, you shouldn't have to ask for the kamaina discount, especially if you're a regular. Some of the clothes are very cute; Others are pricy for the quality-- Forever 21 in Kailua. I think a lot of it is purchased in the LA garment district for peanuts. Suggestions: improve your customer service and make your policies customer friendly. Sorry, but if I'm buying a gift for someone, a 2 week return policy is just not reasonable or realistic. 30 days is. Isn't it worth it to have repeat business and loyal, happy clientele? 2 stars for poor customer service and policies. Only ONE of the 4-5 associates on the floor was kind and attentive. Her name was Kaylin, and she is literally the saving grace for my review. She continued to add pieces to my fitting room and help take unwanted pieces out as I was trying on. She entertained my mom and grandma as I tried on. The other girls were not the kindest which was pretty unfortunate. At checkout, one associate with longer hair was trying to stuff the maxi dress I purchased into an extremely small bag. It was kinda sad to see something I just paid for being stuffed like a sausage into a bag made for jewelry. I asked her if that was the biggest bag thy had, and she proceeded to roll her eyes at me and pull out a bigger bag. Um, thanks. I work retail and know much than to be that ignorant. Very cute clothes and accessories! Reminds me of Fashionista Market but closer to home. I love that a lot of the rings are of the stretchy variety, I've got sausage fingers! Happy to know that their prices are very reasonable too! So many of the new boutiques in Kailua have outrageous prices!!! They did lose a point for being slow on service. My gf and I were in the store for 10 minutes before a sales girl who had been in the back, saw us and came to help. Located in Kailua in a mini strip mall lies a cute boutique fill with cutsie women clothing from semi-business to a Sunday brunch dress. They have reasonably priced clothing and accessories for the fashionable girl (or cross dresser). Staff is friendly! Shop is neatly organized and clean. Make sure to read up on the return policy. I bought a pair of 'Yoga' pants and can I just tell you these pants are soooo comfortable (how comfortable are they?) Have you seen the commercial for Pajama jeans? well I'm just saying, these pants feel like HEAVEN. Very well made, and the damage? I spent 20-30 bucks. Not bad for a well made pair of Yoga-esque pants. The experience: Very nice. The girls working were very friendly, but not too buggin' if you know what I mean.... I've been a big fan of Mahina since being introduced to their Waikiki location last year. Unfortunately, living in Kailua kept me from visiting their store as often as I would have liked. But I was so STOKED to see that they had opened a shop in Kailua! I think they're a perfect fit here with their beautiful selection of clothes that can be dressed up or dressed down, fit into the lifestyle, and are reasonably priced. There's no where else to shop in Kailua and get quality clothing at a great price. They're so much more reasonably priced than other popular boutiques out there and that's a big draw for me. I love this place. I was actually suuuuuper surprised on how affordable all the clothes is here because it seems like it'd be a pretty pricey boutique. They literally have everything. They have shorts, skirts, dresses (short, flowy, maxi, etc), shoes/sandals, jewelry....and the girls there are super helpful. I hate when I go to a clothing store and don't know if I should put the clothes away myself or give it to them after trying it on and they're on it with the dressing room! Got me the sizes I needed, put things away I didn't want. And even called another location for me because they didn't have the size I wanted. She was super patient & friendly with me, helping me figure out which options would be best for me, helping put an outfit together, & even showing me some pieces that they didn't have space for on the floor. I absolutely love shopping at Mahina stores when visiting Hawaii. One of my top spots to shop. Amazing beach-style pieces at very reasonable prices for women of all ages. Very trendy! The boutique and its ambiance look as if it is ultra expensive but it's so affordable. Very clean and well organized, pieces are displayed by style and colour palette with matching jewelry around. I always find so many outfits that I love and end up buying. Service is great and friendly, ladies are super helpful and attentive. You get to try on some fantastic pieces in a relaxed atmosphere, listening to trendy tunes. I walked out with few bags! So far I shopped at Maui locations and two of the Oahu ones. Kailua location is so far my most favourite store. Great location as next to nice restaurants, cafes and some great beaches. Staff was amazing and genuinely liked working there. read more

Keep in mind i'm a regular customer at this location... It's a relatively average to small boutique. The customer service isn't consistent at all. It depending on who's working and their individual moods. For myself, i don't mind to much since i'm a pretty independent shopper. I hate getting pushed in a dressing room with 10 million outfit they suggest. But for this particular visit... a friend and myself were extremely disappointed in how they choose to handle their "NEW" kama'aina discount. (Before i get into detail, i want to put our there that i understand rules are rules and that kama'aina discount is a privilege not a right. This is a purely ethical based review.) We were told when the store opened that all we needed to do was show are local ID and we would receive our kama'aina discount. It's been that way for the last 10+ months. So each and every time we made a purchase, cash or charge we would show our local. Easy. Today, I went up to the cashier handed them my merchandise and showed them my ID and PAID WITH CASH. As soon as i cashed out i noticed on the receipt that i didn't receive my discount. I mentioned it to the cashier and she responded that they've have changed their policy. You can only receive your discount if you ASK for it. So even by showing them my ID and paying for it with CASH she didn't have the courtesy to mention that they've changed their policy. Because the transaction was already done, they could only offer the difference in store credit. Leaving myself feeling that this company just scammed myself, a loyal consumer. I understand that the cashier was just doing as told, by not informing their new policy when it was obvious that it was expected (the discount). But to only present this new policy to those who question why it wasn't received is completely unethical to all retail consumers. That's like offering store credit then closing your business the next day. i calmly mentioned that maybe they should mention it to customers that offer up their ID assuming to get the discount so that customer wouldn't be upset. And all she responded was "oh sometime when people show us their ID when they pay with their credit card (duh! but I paid with cash)" "we've been dealing with this for a while (irate customers)." That's when I got upset. You know that this particular situation is upsetting your customer and yet you keep on doing it. As if it's okay to put this negative light on the company you represent. And that was the exact moment my friend and myself felt like we got ripped off and cheated. That you could not take the 5 seconds to say "we've changed are kama'aina discount" before had. Or have a sign up mentioning the change. Don't get me wrong, overall i like this shop. They have cute dresses and really cute accessories. And as i've mentioned i shop their regularly (maybe not so regularly now). I've also been in the retail business for 8+ years. It's simple, they should at the very least have the courtesy to inform their customers before hand. Especially when they cannot refund (in the form paid) the difference. There is no excuse to purposely scam your customers that keep your business afloat. oh and DON'T FORGET TO MENTION KAMA'AINA DISCOUNT! :) read more

We've been here for 20 minutes and have not even been spoken to once, while there's 3 workers talking huddled together at the register. Wait! Someone just asked if we were ok as she walked past us! So you knew this was coming right? My name is Mahina, this store name is Mahina...it's like it was destined that I had to write a review about this place. So first there is 2 locations. Both in the heart of tourist-ville Kailua & Waikiki. I'm a fan of both, but not a fan of crowds so I like this location a lot more than Waikiki. I love boutiques & i love sales and this place supplies me with just that. I love that there is always something on sale or a sale rack in the back with things in my size. I also love that most clothing i found were very comfortable. Handbags, jewelry, shoes.
