This restaurant has very tasty, moderately-priced Indian food. I was staying at the Mercure in…read moreWurzburg for a week and was looking for somewhere close to eat. I dined in one night and got to-go another. I had the lamb vindaloo and a similar dish (can't remember the name) with a combination of lamb, chicken, and rice. Both were quite tasty although I should have asked if they could make them spicier. I liked that they included the papadum with the to-go order which most places don't do, in my experience. My two gripes: the naan was chewy and definitely sub-par to other comparable Indian restaurants. Also, the meat/vegetable to sauce ratio was a little low in my opinion.

Dear all, I have…read morebeen a vegetarian all my life and it is also a part of my religious belief. I was at the restaurant today with my husband and son, who by personal choice are non-vegetarians. So while they ordered food with meat, I ordered something specifically vegetarian. It took nearly 15minutes for them to come and take our order after giving us our menu cards and it was with a lot of effort that we could finally get the waitress to come over. After nearly 45min, the appetizers were served. I tried to eat mine while helping my son and thought my food tasted funny. Only when a small piece of the stuffing fell out of the indian bread, did I notice that it had the appearance of meat. I was extremely disappointed and upset and the waitress merely offered a obligatory sorry and called it a mistake with the number when the chef read the order note. I wanted to talk to the proprietor who was in the restaurant, but he refused to come over stating he was busy. I am not a European and the Indian proprietor who also knows very well about such religious beliefs, said the mistake was not a major one since the others in my family were content eating meat! He wanted me to come over to the kitchen window to talk to him. This is no way to treat a customer. And I was able to detect the meat only because it was a dry appetizer filling. It makes me wonder how many times the curry dishes have been contaminated with such meat products. What if I had been allergic to the mistaken order? Isn't it everyone's prerogative to choose their dietary lifestyle?! So, I would strongly discourage going to this restaurant where the proprietor seems to have such low work ethics. I would not be shocked if they were using sub-standard products in their preparations just to save money!

I hope they serve Mango Lassi in heaven!!…read more Finally the Sangam has come to Erlangen! One of the best Indian restaurants of Nürnberg has now finally come to Erlangen as well, as they opened a new restaurant where once the Alberts used to be. The location is simply brilliant, right next to a huge parking lot and near the Martin-Luther-Platz, with indoors and outdoors seating and really nice decoration. The food is just as amazing as before, so far I tried the Chicken Jalfrezi and Beef Curry, which were both absolutely delicious. The food is served with Basmati Rice and if you oder some Naan bread on the side and a Mango Lassi to quench your thirst, you'll have entered my own personal kind of heaven! The staff is much nicer than in the other restaurant, very attentive but they don't hover around, and extremely friendly! Don't be surprised, they will put the first two spoons of rice on your plate for you! Should you not be able to finish your lunch/dinner, they will also be quite happy to give you a "doggy bag" so you can take the rest of the food home with you (makes for a great breakfast!) =) They also offer their lunch deal here, from 11:30 to 14:30, which includes a salad or soup as starter and one of the main dishes. It is rather cheap and definitely enough for one person. But you can always go for the normal dishes instead, which range between 10-12 €. The choice is huge and it took me ages to decide - so many mouth-watering dishes to choose from! Upon ordering the bill you will always receive a little something, either sweet tea (sweet is an understatement) or a tiny dessert - fantastic! Bottom line: * Perfect location * Delicious food and drinks (Mango Lassi!!!!) * Helpful and friendly staff, fantastic service * Simply one of the best restaurants in town

Sangam makes delicious Indian food, full stop. Unlike several other Erlangen establishments, they…read moreactually spice their food and the result is amazing. We got the vegetable thali for two people, which had a really great variety of dishes and is a pretty good deal (26 euros for two people). Forewarning: we tried to go twice before we were able to get a seat, which we finally did on a Sunday night. Don't be like us! Make a reservation!
