The best chicken karahi I've had outside Pakistan. Very friendly owner. Has daily buffet which I didn't try.

This restaurant has very tasty, moderately-priced Indian food. I was staying at the Mercure in…read moreWurzburg for a week and was looking for somewhere close to eat. I dined in one night and got to-go another. I had the lamb vindaloo and a similar dish (can't remember the name) with a combination of lamb, chicken, and rice. Both were quite tasty although I should have asked if they could make them spicier. I liked that they included the papadum with the to-go order which most places don't do, in my experience. My two gripes: the naan was chewy and definitely sub-par to other comparable Indian restaurants. Also, the meat/vegetable to sauce ratio was a little low in my opinion.

I was at the restaurant today with my husband and son, who by personal choice are non-vegetarians. So while they ordered food with meat, I ordered something specifically vegetarian. It took nearly 15minutes for them to come and take our order after giving us our menu cards and it was with a lot of effort that we could finally get the waitress to come over. After nearly 45min, the appetizers were served. I tried to eat mine while helping my son and thought my food tasted funny. Only when a small piece of the stuffing fell out of the indian bread, did I notice that it had the appearance of meat. I was extremely disappointed and upset and the waitress merely offered a obligatory sorry and called it a mistake with the number when the chef read the order note. I wanted to talk to the proprietor who was in the restaurant, but he refused to come over stating he was busy. I am not a European and the Indian proprietor who also knows very well about such religious beliefs, said the mistake was not a major one since the others in my family were content eating meat! He wanted me to come over to the kitchen window to talk to him. This is no way to treat a customer. And I was able to detect the meat only because it was a dry appetizer filling. It makes me wonder how many times the curry dishes have been contaminated with such meat products. What if I had been allergic to the mistaken order? Isn't it everyone's prerogative to choose their dietary lifestyle?! So, I would strongly discourage going to this restaurant where the proprietor seems to have such low work ethics. I would not be shocked if they were using sub-standard products in their preparations just to save money!
