This tiny place is dark, hole in the wall but bust out the tastiest food. Super tasty! I've never dined in before, not sure they do dine in. Only done many takeouts. The curries are delicious as well as their rice dishes and naan. The kabob was perfectly cooked and well spiced. Usually doesn't take that long to order, and you can also find them on DoorDash etc. The beef curry: Nihari was delicious! It's not like regular curry, thick, topped with jalapeños and it's delish. Perfect with their naan. The lamb biryani is pretty god too. Great takeout! read more

Please check your bill twice before paying. They do not provide a detailed bill and charge more. I was charged 10% extra and told the prices have changed (in their minds I guess) the menu and online prices were less than what they charged me. I did get a refund without any apology in a lot of coins and math was wrong AGAIN The food is average. Not going back again :) read more

Today I ordered Nihari and Lamb Biryani and I would like to say that I had the pleasure of speaking to a very nice lady at the front counter. The owner is a bit rude at times but I guess anyone would with repetitive questions etc...lol Anyways the only downside to visiting this place is the parking. Parking can be a bit of challenge...I usually have my blinkers on and I run in, pay, grab my food and run out. I drive to this place from St. Catharines just for the Nihari. IF YOU MISS PAKISTANI NIHARI YOU HAVE TO HAVE MAHAL RESTAURANT A TRY. YOU WILL THANK ME! LOVE LOVE LOVE THEIR NIHARI. Wish the quantity was a bit more. I also ordered Lamb Biryani and it's very good. The grains of rice were small not like sela. Whst else...yes the nan are huge...I ordered 2. I asked for saag and they said they dont have that. I wanted to love Mahal's as the customer service is actually excellent and they're so close by. However.. The butter chicken wasn't creamy but rather thin and soup-like :( there were generous chunks of chicken but did not have the savoury taste and was rather bland. The rice was average jasmine rice. The naan was thinner almost roti like and didn't have the aromatic smell of being freshly baked. HOWEVER, the saving grace is the custard they have to the side of the cash in the fridge. It is creamy with bread pudding inside. Must must must try! Overall, this place does thrive (even though it isn't my cup of tea) and a take out order can range from 15-30 minutes during peak hours. read more

As a caveat, I might have just ordered wrong. I was a bit too full, and the restaurant was too hot/stuffy, for a curry with meat to seem super appetizing. Maybe I should have ordered that. In any case I had a pakora appetizer and some naan. The pakoras were fresh from the oil and well-spiced. The naan was really just average, though, despite some reviews I'd seen about how good it was. I might go again and try ordering something else, but I wasn't as blown away as the reviews would imply I should have been. read more

Best samosas in the city! Very friendly and fast. Lots of people said this place had greasy items but I've had no complaints.

The chicken kharahi is the best and the kheer is to die for,naan and kebob combo is the best but the management can be rude at times,

Last night, I ordered from Mahal Restaurant. This restaurant was new to me , so I opted to try their chicken tikka masala, lamb curry and plain pullau. Upon receiving my order I found the food was extremely oily - the oil had even leaked through the containers and was on all the bags. A hair was also found in my order of plain pullau. This morning I was extremely ill from the food. I contacted the restaurant to voice my concerns. I was compensated for the order of plain pullau, but none of the other items. This is unacceptable considering, the food made me quite ill. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again read more

Excellent food. I ordered chicken biryani, chilli chicken, 2 plain nans and steamed rice. Everything was delicious. The nans are huge and the steamed rice is enough to feed 4 adults. Less than $30 and enough for 2 days. Definitely will order from here again. read more

Was appalled by there customer service. My order was incorrect I was given two meat dishes when one was was meant to be chickpea for my vegetarian wife. They took zero responsibility for the mistake. The female on the phone was extremely condescending and told me they would call me back but did not. Had to call back 4 times before they answered. And was basically told " tough luck". I Just wanted a nice night in and good meal for us for valentines day and ended up spending an hour and a half of my time trying to deal with this. Not only did I have to pay for a meal that couldn't be eaten I ended up having to go out to purchase her a seperate meal. Mahals Has always been one of my favorite restaurants but I will not be returning and will advice my friends not too as well! Extremely disappointed read more
