Do not go here. This dentist uses high pressure tactics to upsell services that are way overpriced. When confronted with a second dentist's opinion Dr. Massaband immediately became defensive and visibly irritated. The repair work was shoddy. 2 weeks later had to go back for a follow up as there was sensitivity issues and pain and holes in their bonding. While asking the dentist in the chair her response was so condescending and rude, "This is what happens when the patient thinks they are the dentist. I recommended the veneer and you chose the bonding instead". So effing rude! Always the upsell and trying to gouge for a $7000 veneer when other dentists charge $2000... avoid this scam and negative patient experience place at all costs. read more

I'm already an anxious dentist goer and unfortunately when I had a tooth emergency a couple years ago, this office was the only ones with next day availability (that should tell you something). Not only are the offices ugly, I just wanted my one tooth fixed. The staff workers were actually nice to me, but Dr. Massaband just is pretend nice. She has a smile on her face but is so demanding and pushy that I left $2,500 poorer with 3 crowns (and I have insurance so I think I was just too naive to know how it worked and got scammed into paying out of pocket). My teeth HURT for years after. The nerves were left open to the point that my sensitivity was so bad I couldn't have hot or cold anything. And I had never had problems with sensitivity before in my life. But she scarred me and scared me into never going back. Now here we are 2 years later and one of the crowns popped OFF. I went to my new dentist (who is the BEST) and he agreed that not only was I severely overcharged the first time, I didn't need all 3 and it wasn't even done right which is why it popped off in the first place. Stay away from this place. It's Drs like her which make me never want to go and end up in the position I was in. They also will call you nonstop like a desperate ex. We went in to check for a tooth infection and while the initial interaction with the receptionist went very well, our visit was unfortunately not pleasant at all. We felt as though we were being up charged for a procedure that would have been extremely drastic and outside of the scope in which we could afford despite payment plans. Not to mention the assistant was aggressive in her treatment breakdown, causing anxiety and no real clarity on how well the doctor can perform. We felt as though we were aggressively being sold something rather than with warmth and concern for one's health. When we didn't want to move forward with treatment, we were unfortunately met with a very dismissive manner and an attitude shift, at one point with the assistant stating that the doctor was the only doctor who could perform this procedure and then told us "you can continue with us or you will lose half of your jaw" I'm sure the doctor is very well versed on how to do the procedure and her receptionist was kind, but the rest of the staff needs a lesson on bed side manner and manners in general. We found treatment elsewhere at a more affordable price and level of professionalism and got the problem taken care of. read more

My biggest complaint is the caps they put on my molars that resulted in overcrowding my lower teeth so they could try and sell me Invisalign. Which is so overpriced. "I had an extremely disappointing experience at this dental office. I originally went in for a straightforward wisdom tooth extraction, explicitly stating that I only wanted that procedure. Despite my clear request, the dentist aggressively pushed a full range of additional treatments on me. Worse, she charged me multiple upfront fees, which my insurance later covered, but I still haven't received a refund after months of follow-up. During the visit, she never finished the original consultation--just left me with her assistant, giving no details on the procedure or recovery. Then, at the appointment, she casually told me in the waiting room that a bone graft was planned, even though I had already declined it. Charged me out of pocket for something my insurance did cover. I called to speak with their billing lady multiple times and she never called me back. I said no to a deep cleaning because I had one done less than 6months perviously else where, but they said my insurance covered it, I said ok sure. Turned out I had a small balance from that too. Worst part, they didn't do a good job, had to go elsewhere to get the exact procedure fixed and didn't have to pay anything because the other office was honest and ran my insurance. Beware of upselling to patients - especially new patients! At her first appointment my daughter was told she needed a deep cleaning and that it would be covered by insurance. Not only was it not covered, she received a $700 bill. I discussed this with my insurance numerous times and they stated that the deep cleaning was not needed. The office tried to claim the problem was my insurance company, but I had this same procedure done in Indiana and it was covered. In addition, the hygienist tried to sell my daughter Invisalign at her first appointment. She has had braces and does not need Invisalign either. I wish I had looked at the yelp reviews before booking with Zocdoc. When I came in I was greeted by the dental assistant who was wearing airpods and continuously on her phone throughout my appointment. She took about 25 mins to do my x rays and my mouth was sooo sore the next day. Then she polished my teeth before doing the cleaning (?). As she was flossing the dirty part of the floss what resting on my face (!?) Once the dentist came in she was the one who did my cleaning in like 5 mins, so weird! The dentist would put her tools on my chest! lol like what dude. I needed some cavities filled and a crown but honestly I felt so uncomfortable with her that I just told her straight up my issues. She was so sweet and apologized, but I did not feel comfortable getting any work done there. I went somewhere else and was given much better treatment and then confirmed that my experience here was unprofessional and just overall weird vibes! I went there in early 2023 on the basis of great reviews (due to the previous owners). The assistant almost ripped out my teeth when he tripped over the x-ray cord. His mask was slipping below his mouth. The dentist came in (Reza Moghbel). He looks at my x-rays and tells me I need to replace all of my six fillings. This is news to me, the last dentist I had said everything was fine. I go to checkout, and the woman at the desk pressures me to come in tomorrow for the procedure. I'm not available. She says, "How about early next week?" Why are they rushing me? I got a second opinion. New dentist says everything's good. Avoid, avoid, avoid this place. TLDR: Now that there's new management, don't come here. The new staff are not friendly, they will scare you into unnecessary procedures for their benefit, and they may be extremely rude to you. Don't waste your time. I used to come to Magnolia Dentistry for several years, they were so friendly, reliable, and I felt like I could trust them. A family practice. I was surprised to see that there were new owners, but I was willing to give them a chance. At my first cleaning, they immediately instilled so much fear in me that I needed to see a gum specialist ASAP otherwise I'd be in danger of losing my teeth. It really concerned me so I sought out a second opinion from a gum specialist, someone highly reputable, and they told me the issue is certainly not that dire. I was incredibly relieved, but it really bothered me that the dentist here scared me with the intention of getting business out of me (I imagine), but I was willing to still go in for cleanings and give them another shot. I have a dental implant and my crown cracked so I needed to get it repaired and I felt it was pretty urgent. I already had a cleaning scheduled for later that week so they were able to see my a couple days sooner. They started with my cleaning. The hygienist was not friendly at all and her work was rough, I don't think my mouth has ever hurt so much from a cleaning. The electric cleaning tool she used hurt my mouth and frankly also hurt my ears from the incredibly sharp loud noise. The dental assistant also seemed very inexperienced; the hygienist took measurements of my gums and said the numbers out loud and the assistant kept getting them wrong. She kept having to repeat the numbers over and over again until she got it right, and ultimately the hygienist just went in and fixed her mistakes herself. It come across really unprofessional. She then took photos of my teeth & gums with a fancy device, but the purpose only seemed to be to guilt me into how poor of a job I'm doing cleaning my teeth? I have good dental hygiene, haven't had a cavity since I was a teenager, and prior hygienists have always commented on how clean my teeth are. I also floss nightly so I was in disbelief at how it could all of a sudden be so much worse. They instilled fear and judgement throughout - you NEED a nightguard, you need a deep cleaning, do you even floss?, look at how filthy your teeth are. Then the dentist came in, Dr. Massaband. First of all, she was sniffling and coughing and very clearly outwardly sick. I explained to her what had happened with my broken crown and she explained I would need to make an appointment. I was very confused since the whole point of moving my appointment up was to discuss the crown. I brought in the portion of the crown that broke off and asked if one of the options would be to glue it back together. I asked this because that's what happened to my mother, her crown broke and her dentist glued it back and it's lasted 15+ yrs. Dr. Massaband laughed at me and said "I have a homework assignment for you. Read dental literature and call multiple dental offices to see if gluing a porcelain crown is possible. If it is, then I'm a bad dentist." I found this to be extremely rude. I then explained that I know it's an option since my mother literally had that done. She then became very defensive. She started outlining her education and experience and she was very prideful in saying she has a practice in Beverly Hills (sorry, but that means nothing if you're not good). I stopped her because I was a little confused why she was outlining her credentials (defensive, much?). I told her I never attacked her education or her experience, I simply had asked a question if gluing was an option. She was continuously coughing and sniffling which made me uncomfortable so I also asked if she could please wear her face mask, because she was coughing without covering her mouth and was simply holding onto her mask with her hands and not wearing it. She was so offended and said she's not sick and has allergies, in a very aggressive tone. I told her it would make me more comfortable if she were to be masked, even if it is just allergies (many ppl who end up having COVID think it's just allergies at first). She then glared at me for about 10 seconds and said she doesn't mind wearing the mask in a very hash tone. At that point, I was done. I explained that I would like to leave as I've had a very negative experience. Something must have clicked as she softened up her tone and finished explaining the cost etc for getting a crown replacement. Needless to say, I will never be coming back here. Not for cleaning nor dental work. Neither Dr. Massaband nor the dental hygienist were friendly, but I would think the more senior of the two, Dr. Massaband should know better than to be outright rude. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Tejeda at Magnolia Dentistry. When my son's temporary front tooth fell out right before college, we were worried about timing and the difficulty of the procedure. Dr. Tejeda went above and beyond--she managed to save the root, provide a temporary, and even had the lab create the permanent crown in time for our deadline. The result is flawless; his tooth looks completely natural, with perfect color matching and an incredible seamless finish. More recently, I had an onlay and crown done by Dr. Tejeda, and once again, I was beyond impressed. The procedure was smooth, pain-free, and I went home the same day feeling comfortable. Her bedside manner is wonderful--she listens attentively and addresses all concerns thoughtfully. I highly recommend Dr. Tejeda and Dr. Massaband to any Burbank residents looking for excellent dental care. Magnolia Dentistry may have previously felt like a long-time patients' practice, but it's absolutely worth a visit if you're in need of top-notch dental work. I liked the fact that this is an all female office, but that's where the positives end. I had heard about dental offices like this, but had never experienced one. They're in network (Aetna PPO) but bill for things that they know insurance won't cover. Adults don't need sealants! I did not ask for this service, nor did I need it. But this is a way for them to collect more money, since the patient is responsible for non covered things, whereas if services are allowed, they have to accept the in network allowable amount. They collect money up front, and the amount they collect is the full amount that they bill insurance. I overpaid by $350 (for allowable services) and my request for a refund is now being ignored. Sadly the dentists themselves are great, but as the heads of the establishment, I can only assume they put these rules in place. Avoid this place at all costs, unless you want to pay dental insurance premiums and still pay full price at the dentist! read more

I originally came here because they were close by, in network, and had good ratings on the Sequoia app... but it's a hard NO for me on ever coming back here. The building itself is old, outdated from like the 70s, dark and dungey, and not inviting whatsoever. I came here my first time and went through the initial X-Ray + exam by a really kind assistant. The dentist came in and did a super brief overview that didn't feel authentic whatsoever. Immediately I was told I need a deep cleaning and that my insurance wouldn't cover most of it. I said OK since it was going to be with this dental assistant that attributed to the only positive part of the experience I had. I came in a week later for my cleaning to find out he had QUIT (should have paid attention to the red flag) and that someone who seemed like a family friend of the dentist would be doing my deep cleaning. She was not kind, didn't really speak english and took me back. I felt immediate anxiety. She was fumbling all over the place and shaking.. she gave me some small numbing in the WRONG place and TORE UP my mouth, it was unbelievably painful. It seriously felt like she didn't know what she was doing then blamed it ON ME that we couldn't do the full service that day (even though I had already paid for it) because she didn't have enough time. I've been too shaken up to even go back and get the rest of my service that I already paid for. All they wanted was my money to give me shite service and pass me off to whoever they had available at the time. I found out later on that the reason they originally had good reviews was because of the owner and practice that was there before they sold it. AWFUL BUSINESS PRACTICE to takeover the business and act like it's the same staff and owner and tricking clients into coming here after a change like that.. Man, I wish I came on here before my appt today. I've been going to Magnolia Dentistry for over 10 years, loved them, and now will never go back. New ownership, and the whole experience was bad. Let me step back to a few weeks ago. First, I get a call that I have a balance. They wanted payment asap. I told them that I haven't received a bill, so I will pay when I get it. BTW, this was never an issue before. Then I get a call Friday AM that they need to reschedule my appt on Monday, but they can see me this afternoon instead. I call back saying I can't do this afternoon, so we reschedule. Then, the lady says, " you know there's normally a fee to reschedule so late" I was floored. Woman, you rescheduled ME. Then she says that she's waiving it for me like she's done something extraordinary. So then today. Off the bat, I surprise! Have a new dentist. I ask about Dr Dina and one person just shrugs like it was way before her time, and another claims that she moved out of the city. NOT TRUE. A quick search afterwards told me that. Then, the dentist, without even seeing my teeth, asks me about a deep cleaning. I'm starting to sense an upsell. Then, out of nowhere, I suddenly have 3 crowns that need replacing, that was never ever an issue before, and I go regularly. Now, maybe I do have these issues, but I certainly want a second opinion, and now that I know where Dr Dina went to (Olive Dentistry) I'm gonna go there. read more

I've been a patient here for 15 years. They changed ownership and completely changed the staff across the board. They did not notify me in advance. I show up, and there's a completely new hygienist who I have never met. They didn't even tell me there that ownership had changed. The dentist met with me before the hygienist even did anything and told me problems I was having with my teeth/gums based on history (that she did not have with me), and suggested things like a deep cleaning. I should note I've had very healthy teeth and consistent check-ups at this office for 15 years with no issues. The cleaning was the worst I've had in my 40 years. I don't even feel like I went to the dentist. When I was leaving I told them about the horrible experience and said I didn't want to make a new appointment. They simply asked if they could follow up in 10 days. It was a very upsetting experience and I won't return. I'm sad about the wonderful staff that used to work there. read more

Suddenly I had issues I had never had before and I go every 3 months. Thankfully I didn't agree to any of the recommendations. They constantly still call me and my husband and leave the same message that "the Doctor has reviewed your chart and she has many concerns." What the heck. My husband even talked to someone who called and he asked who the new doctor was and they said she was training with Dr. Seraji so no need to worry.. Dr. Seraji had died years ago at that point! The doctors at this practice are highly qualified and have vastly improved from the previous ownership. I had work done with the Dr. Dina (who was there prior to the new ownership) that I've had to completely redo. The worst part of her blatant malpractice is that insurance will not cover it. Finding a good dentist with affordable pricing is not always easy. The team has worked with me to make sure I get the best dental care. The staff is kind and cheerful. The doctors are thorough and some even provide their personal numbers in case you need to reach them after business hours. read more

I had a great first experience at Magnolia Dentistry this week. I had my teeth cleaned and two fillings replaced, which were the result of some mediocre dentistry a few years ago. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. The offices were clean and inviting. The tools and machines appeared to me contemporary and clean. They were able to take high-resolution images of my teeth that allowed me to see the before and after of the two fillings I had replaced. There was a little confusion with my insurance, but I can wait until they sort it out. Insurance is always a pain. Nonetheless, I would recommend to anyone. read more

I had been going to this office when Dr. Dodge was still practicing. They were terrific and had integrity. After he retired, Dr. Seraji was the new dentist/owner of the practice and kept the original staff. He too was terrific. Sadly, he passed away after a bout with cancer. Now this group. Of course I wanted to give them a try. I had a general teeth cleaning. Their gum specialist happened to be there that day and observed some strange white spots on my gums. The hygienist said to him she noticed them too. He started telling me what it could be and mentioned cancer. Now what kind of Dr. tells you this before getting the results of the biopsy? I've never heard this before. It's like he was thinking out loud. They wanted me to come back in a week or two to see if the spots were still there. I did not go back to see him and simply called in for the results...which were negative. So days after the general cleaning, they schedule me for a deep cleaning! Why didn't they do this first and why both? I didn't really think to ask but when you start adding up all the weird things going on it's worth mentioning. Next, I get a full mouth x-ray. Dr. Massaband tells me I have three cavities! I didn't have any sensitivity whatsoever but didn't really question it when she said she could take care of them with a new procedure that requires no drilling or numbing. The really strange thing is they were on the side walls of my teeth. I've never had any fillings on the outer sides of my teeth. Only between molars. Additionally, past dentists used to use their instruments to poke around the suspected cavity and asked if the tooth was sensitive to temperature or pressure. Usually, they'd say they'll just keep an eye on it. Well this Dentist used the procedure she was talking about on those three teeth. The best way to describe it was like press-on nails. It took a long time. I would have rather done this the old way but not on these teeth! What are the odds that I would have 3 cavities on the sides??? To make things worse, she said they last 2-3 years! That's all??? I'm pretty sure one of them broke. It was like chewing on the chocolate coating of an m&m. Never goin back again. They kept trying to schedule me to come back. After no response, they've given up. Oh! If you are considering trying them out, don't let them sell you on Invisalign braces. They talked my husband into them by telling him his bite was off and that's why his tooth was sore! Thousands of dollars out of pocket as our insurance did not cover any of it since it's cosmetic!!! Had been going to Magnolia Dentistry for years, but since staff and dentist have changed it is absolutely terrible. They are not keeping up with the building so it looks like it's starting to fall apart. I kept noticing my hygienist touched everything in her office with ungloved hands, then gloved hands and wanted to put her hands back in my mouth-GROSS. Super unhygienic and very unskilled staff. On top of being pretty terrible about their job, they are constantly trying to upsell you on ANYTHING. After years of great teeth this new dentist insulted my teeth and told me I needed Invisalign for purely cosmetic reasons. This company clearly doesn't care about the patient, just scamming them for whatever they can get. This practice has completely changed and has significantly gone downhill. There was a change in management and none of the former patients were notified. I've been going here consistently for five years and then suddenly after the change I'm told that my teeth are in bad shape and that I need a deep cleaning even though I kept up on my routine cleanings with no issue prior. They also told me it would be done in two appointments but then numbed my entire mouth and did it in 45 minutes. At the end of the appointment I was also told I needed significant work on a handful of teeth. Something felt off and I got a second opinion, who retook new X-rays after the practice sent old ones from three years ago despite several requests for my full file and updated records. Come to find out after the second opinion my teeth were totally fine and I needed none of the work that was being suggested. Beware, this practice feels extremely predatory. read more

I have heard that the people from the former practice are at Olive Dentistry. I wasn't happy with the new crew at Magnolia so I have made an appointment with Olive, hopefully they will provide the level of care I came to expect at the former Magnolia office. I am absolutely shocked. Like so many others, I wish I had looked here before my appointment today. I had a bad feeling all day and wish I had trusted my gut. It had already been strange when the last time I was seen in January Dr. Shimoyama was suddenly gone, and no one had told me. Then today, the guy I'd seen in January wasn't there either and the dentist claimed he was "rarely in". When I pressed, she said he sees patients in San Francisco, and Bakersfield. Ummm.... come to find they lied about Dr. Shimoyama moving away, so I'm sure they lied to me today. Plus, they claimed I needed $1700 worth of crowns + deep cleaning. That wasn't the case 6 months ago, so I said I'd think about it. I am a previous patient of Dr. Silberberg who was also fooled by the new owners. I had an appointment scheduled with Silberberg from months ago, and when I had to reschedule due to illness, the new receptionist never informed me of the new ownership. I was completely blindsided when I arrived at my appointment and was told this was no longer Silberberg's office. When I asked where she went and if the office was under new ownership, the receptionist gave an incredibly scripted "we don't have that information" answer. I decided to give this office a try since I was already there. First off, it was the least thorough cleaning I've ever received. Secondly, the hygienist was clearly brand new and being trained on all the equipment. The dentist had to show her how everything worked! On top of it all, she accidentally pressed the wrong button on the oral irrigator, and completely sprayed me all over my face, glasses, and clothes. Additionally, they "forgot" to bill my insurance for my check up, and I received an enormous bill. I had to spend unnecessary time on the phone sorting it out only for this office to say "whoops we forgot to bill your insurance!" If you are looking for a new dentist, this isn't the place, and if you are a patient of Dr. Silberberg, go to her new practice on Olive in Burbank. Avoid Magnolia Dentisty! read more

i've been going to Magnolia, Dentistry for seven years. Magnolia, Dentistry is a great location with easy parking It seems recently that the previous Dentist parted ways and the business is being run by a new Dentist. Not a problem I know that things change in the world and it was pretty obvious that things were different at the office, and there certainly is a lot of new advanced technology being used. I had to have an emergency extraction which went very well, and it happened in at the office, which was great, so I did not need to go to a specialist. I had my second visit today and the procedure performed has healed well without complication. I would highly recommend staying with Magnolia, Dentistry , I still would like to know the full story on what happened with the previous Dentist group? read more

I've gone to Magnolia Dentistry for at least 15 years and they've been fantastic. Friendly, informative, consistent. Suddenly, in February 2023, I show up to find all the dentists gone and an entirely new staff has taken over. No notice to any patients. My cleaning was fine but the new dentist, whom I've never met, looked at my teeth for SECONDS and said I needed a load of work. No x-rays! Just an extremely brief glance. They tried to schedule me for the work and I put them off. Thank goodness!!! I had a horrible feeling about them and followed my gut. I found my old dentists, Silverberg and Shimoyama at Olive Dentistry. I just had a cleaning and x-rays and all was well! No work needed. Sure makes the other dentist sound shady, huh?? My family has been going to this practice since Dr. Dodge owned it. The new dentist and staff are very hard to deal with. I have paid them several thousand dollars over the last few months - they wait until my kid (older teen) is numb in the chair and then they call to tell me they need more money. They claim my insurance (double insured btw) has paid the max and they need a credit card. I have checked my insurance website, and this does not appear to be correct - but I know things can take a while to show on the website - so I asked for a statement of our account. I wanted to see what they had billed, I had paid and the 2 insurance companies had paid - all in one place. Information they should have, one would think. They sent me screen shots of estimates and have not replied to my last two requests. My kid is walking around with temporary crowns, and I have paid for the permanents (I think) so we will finish this out, but we will never be back. I may have to go to the BBB as well since they won't give me the accounting I asked for. read more
