I met Melissa years ago while she was set up at a farmers market and was delighted and totally surprised to find out that she had a shop in my small neighborhood. Oaklandon is quaint and cozy but not really known for the excellent small businesses we've gained in the past few years. It helps to have a shop like this in our little neck of the woods, but that's not the only reason I'm now a die-hard of Essential Wellbeings! I love to visit, even if just for the excellent vibes. The shop is thoughtfully curated with a huge selection of harder to find crystals, literature, magical tools, and of course, aromatherapy (Melissa's specialty). Melissa is an expert in so many things. Her down-to-earth energy is so refreshing! She's super well-read and knowledgeable but the humility in the way she shares what she's learned is the real gem. It can be kind of hard to find people who are experts in this area to begin with, but then to find someone who's not pretentious about it is a gift. I took the chakra balancing course and had an amazing experience learning so much! The first product I fell in love with was the chakra oil mists. This is the only place in town I can find Lapidus for Men and Cafe' a reasonably priced old school perfume that's excellent for everyday. They also carry the best (longest lasting) essential oils in town and will bottle them for you in a choice of bottle sizes. Some of the staff are willing to mix oil scents for you and some are not so happy about doing this, so it's a gamble, but if you want to mix up your own signature scent this is the place in town to go. As for the line/lines of soaps they carry, I hesitate to use the phrase old fashioned, and prefer the word vintage. These vintage scents evoke sense memory's of how my grandma smelled as she was readying for church. What's a better comfort than that scent?
