I hired Magid Masonry to rebuild my chimney and I was more than impressed. Great prices and quality work!

Called Magid Masonry either the 7th or 8th of November and got a call back to schedule a site visit for the possible type of repair I would need on my chimney. Appointment was set for Tuesday the 12th at l:00. I waited till 2:00 and called Tyler and asked what happened, as no one showed up. He said he told one of the workers to come and take a look and thought they did, so we set up a time for a bit later and they would let me know when they were on their way. No one showed up. Today, the 13th I received a text from Tyler asking if he could stop by around 945/10. I said ok, then I got another text saying there was an emergency service he has to go to, so it wouldn't be till about 12 or one. Again I replied that's fine. Wanted a quote to fix these exposed bricks, got this- "Remove and rebuild/restore the back wall in the firebox and smoke shelf behind it. Extend the chimney, approx. 4' with a light weight metal chimney System, metal framed and plastered to match the house" for $5775.00. We got a chimney sweep for $150 and our fireplace is just fine, still left with the exposed brick. read more

My fireplace didn't work for more than 2 years. I almost gave up even thinking about it, especially after the second estimate I got from yet another specialist in the area called for complete replacement and literally ridiculous amount of money - more than $12000!!!! Long story short, as usual I went on yelp for help, and got intrigued by very strange reviews of this particular fireplace company, Magid Masonry, that kept taking about the driving habits of someone with the car sign... I have made the best decision ever - paid attention to the review that was describing the company work, not the driving technics. As a result, my fireplace is fixed!!! The person that tears around town in their red Jeep Wrangler sets a very poor example for this business. This Jeep with the company name on the door nearly hit me - mostly because he was in the middle of the road and far exceeding any rational rate of speed to be traveling through the very narrow streets of Mission Canyon. My right tire was almost off of the road and he still almost hit me. Had I been on my motorcycle I might have been killed, had anyone been walking there, they would have been killed. Then about an hour later I was on the highway and a little red Jeep with Magid on the door cut me off so badly that I had to slam on my brakes. He continued to weave violently through traffic. I later called them to warn them they had a crazy person driving around in their company car and they hung up on me! All he had to say was something like "I was having a bad day, there was a death, Im really sorry etc etc etc" hell, lie to me. I cannot imagine anything more unprofessional. I was actually trying to do them a favor.....Im guessing whoever it was that I got on the phone had been driving the car earlier in the day. This is an amazing way to run a business... ***Nothing is worth putting other peoples life at risk, especially in a car with the name of your company on the side*** I will never use this business - I will always recommended against using this business - they have zero respect for anyone's safety. read more

Very helpful. Did not hire them but the owner went out of his way to research a problem for us and give us info on a local supplier that we could use to solve the issue ourselves (replacing fire bricks in our wood burning stove). He researched it can called us back. It is rare to get that kind of service and knoldge in the same company. read more

Magid Masonry recently installed a relatively small patio surrounded on three side will a low wall. Instead of installing pavers on a bed of decomposed granite and sand, Magid put them over a reinforced concrete pad so there would be no settlement down the road. I contacted this business because they built fireplaces for people I know who were very happy with the results and the professionalism through the process. They also built a very beautiful and unusual fireplace for a neighbor (the chimney twists as it rises). I needed some masonry work done to secure the foundation. Ilya Magid visited, surveyed and discussed the issue, and gave me a very solid recommendation on what should be done. He then said he could do the work, but suggested that for that job I would be better off with a different contractor who would be more cost effective! Who does that these days? He then recommended someone who did a great job for a very good price. Ilya explained in detail to this contractor what should be done, without asking for anything for this , or for the initial consultation.
