Here's what happened: We attended a show at Gourmet Garage on Nov 19th. We showed up right when his show was starting. He asked for a volunteer. My three year old daughter very excitedly volunteered. He asked her if she liked candy. Of course she said yes. He then proceeded to tell her to grab the piece of candy out of the paper bag he was holding. This started to take a while as she was noticeably confused. He kept coaxing her and even pointed to the "piece of candy" in the bag. Turns out it wasn't candy it was a small roll of toilet paper that he was using for a bit. My daughter teared up and said out loud "I want to go home". It was so obvious that the eight and nine year olds at the show "got" this humor but it was just confusing for my little girl. We stayed because I wanted her to see that this guy was just jokingly doing tricks. I laughed a lot so she could hear me and explained what he was doing. At the end I told her to thank him for the show and ask him if she could have a balloon (he was packing up and visibly had a bag of balloons). He smiled and said thank you. He said "we're not doing balloons today"...clueless.

I couldn't be happier or more satisfied with choosing Mr. Jay Entertainment for such a special night. My birthday parties are always a vibe but having him host took it to another level. He met with me ahead of time to go over my expectations as well as to get an idea of the guests that would be attending. On the day of the party, he came over to set everything up before the party and did a sound check. I appreciated his organization and promptness. He brought his wife Roni with him to assist with the party. She is the sweetest lady ever. Once the party started, he made sure that we had fun non-stop. I have some reserved friends, you know the ones who love to attend but prefer to be wallflowers. Jay was able to get them involved in the games and they left saying it was the most fun they ever had. Jay has this way of making everyone feel included without having to pressure anyone. His energy is infectious and he makes you want to let your hair down and enjoy life. I don't want to give away the games that we played and ruin the fun but I highly recommend that you book him for your next event.

Seriously, he is the answer to all my birthday party woes-- I had no idea what I was going to do with a bunch of 4 year old boys, stuck indoors on a freezing cold February day, but as soon as I heard about The Great Lerdini, I was intrigued. Best of all, he exceeded my expectations! He kept 24 kids (and, more importantly, THEIR PARENTS) happily entertained for over a half-hour, which is perfect for 4-year-olds' birthday parties, and charmed everyone! Seriously, a month later, the kids are all still talking about "that awesome magician at [my kid's] birthday party." It was legendary and I would hire him again in a second. The fact that he also donates his time to do a show for kids in the hospital is icing on an already perfect cake. We could not be more thrilled!

He arrived early for our Local public Elementary School's Spring Carnival and was definitely a crowd pleaser. He was scheduled to do two magic shows for a range of children in grades k-5. He was so entertaining we asked for him to stay and perform an additional show and as exhausted as he must have been he agreed. The owner of the…read morebusiness, Bill Boettcher, told me less than 48 hours before my event that he would be sending a substitute when all along I was told it would be he at my event. All during the time before my event he was extremely difficult to reach but I let it go because my primary music was to be through the live band, who was fantastic. But there were reasons I also wanted a DJ and my reasons turned out to be valid. The DJ Bill ultimately sent was ok. the music was fine and really there was nothing in particular I needed to have the DJ do or to discuss with him so no complaints. But the motivator, as sweet as could be, did not seem to know her job. I had to tell her when to give out items and if I hadn't told her we would still be waiting. Only during the last hour did she do any kind of interaction with the kids. There were no games as I had been told there would be and items that were specifically ordered for my event, I never saw. All of this didn't leave me thrilled, but the worst was that I wrote to Bill after the event and let him know I just wanted to talk to him. I wasn't going to make too big a deal of it but I thought maybe the motivator was new and simply needed some guidance. I didn't hear back for a week and when I wrote again, I received a rather rude response admonishing me for not being more patient. He didn't like some of what I wrote in my second e-mail (which did indicate I was upset he hadn't responded yet)and indicated that was the only reason he was responding despite being so busy. Had he only written originally and asked me to wait until things quieted down I wouldn't be writing this. But he stated right out that he only responded to me because something upset him. Yet he didn't feel it important enough to answer me when I was upset, didn't feel it important enough to make sure things had gone well, and overall didn't think it important enough to provide good customer service. I don't know if things would have been better with a different motivator and if the owner had done my event, as originally planned. But he (Bill, the owner) is extremely difficult to reach when things are going well, and pretty much not at all unless he feels it is important. I would not use this company again.
