We're both with software engineers who love to problem solve, and watching them two trying to figure out how each trick was happening was absolute gold. Incredible show. In a small, intimate setting he told stories about magic awing us at each turn with "tricks" that seem simple and then become mind boggling. Each of us (three teen kids, my husband and I) were completely absorbed by his storytelling ability and of course the magic. When it was over we wanted more...the sign of a good evening. A 10:30pm show on a Friday night??? When my #1 human first suggested we head to a show at such a late hour on a Friday evening, I was a little concerned I'd fall asleep mid-show after a long week. Never did I ever imagine I'd be on the edge of my seat THE ENTIRE TIME. What started as a casual lobby chat with Noah as we waited for the rest of the attendees to arrive, quickly turned into one of my favorite NYC experiences after ascending to the 6th floor and entering the oldest operating magic shop in the city: Tannen's Magic. So, yes, the magic was awesome. And the way Noah brought out curiosity, wonder, and 'HOW DID HE DO THAT??!!' throughout the evening was something very special. Not to mention, somehow Noah found a way to weave ALL 16 of us into the show last night. Noah's flow, cadence, storytelling, and easygoing, playful, and intentional style made for a memorable and magical evening -- all puns intended. The 5 of us went last night and had a wonderful experience. Magic after hours has a very speakeasy vibe with entering through an office building. Most of us were selected to help Noah with his tricks and one of us is lucky enough to have a card from a deck with his name on it that will go up on the ceiling. Highly recommend this show, Noah is an amazing story teller. His enthusiasm and tricks will keep you entertained the entire time. I can't believe an hour went by so quickly. I thought wearing masks would be annoying but I was so entertained and excited during the show, it did not bother me at all. Went on January 29, 2019. Bought the ticket the week before - most of the shows seem to sell out, so plan ahead! Awesome magic show - up close and personal. Noah brought a wealth of magic trivia and history to the show and his sense of humor made this a great event. Having it at Tannen's Magic Store added to the evening as we could do a little exploring before and after the show of Tannen's inventory and artifacts. Noah is a talented magician. Quite personable and approachable too. The 'tricks' he performs during his 75-minute show will have you wondering, 'how did he do that???' About 20 people were in attendance, which was cozy. Get there early to grab a tableside seat and prepare to be amazed. I would say the furthest person from the table was less than 7-feet away and everyone had good sight lines. read more

You'll learn a few good stories about the shop, and a good percentage of the audience gets to participate. And he willingly engages with anyone who wants to talk when the show is done. If you have even a passing interest in magic, then you owe it to yourself to attend Magic After Hours. The entire evening is part history lesson, part tour of the iconic Tannen's Magic Shop, and (the best part) part live performance where Noah Levine performs some impressive close-up magic. You also get a few awesome bits of magic during the first half of the evening too! I've always been impressed by close-up magicians and have seen many displays of it on YouTube and television, like on Penn & Teller's "Fool Us". I always wished I could be called on stage and see live, first-hand what's it's like to have a professional seemingly do the impossible. Thankfully, Noah is a professional and I was blown away at how well I was fooled with the tricks happening a few feet in front of me. I know something's going to happen, I know there are moves and tricks and he will attempt misdirection....but I'll be damned if he didn't get me each and every time. Noah is a talented magician who knows what he is doing. Having said that, he basically did the same card trick 3 or 4 times by changing up the presentation. We were told the show would be an hour and a half but he cut it short at an hour. When purchasing tickets, we were also told that we would be allowed to pick a book or a item from the store..none of which happened. At $35 a ticket it's a bit pricey when compared to other magic shows and venues in the city. However, if you are interested in a close up magic show and would like to see the historic Tannen's magic shop it may be worth a visit. read more
