The Smokey Bone BBQ-Twin Falls

We were jazzed to try Smokey Bone as an extension of this food hall…read more The menu was pleasantly overwhelming. Thought the three-meat sampler was good bang for our buck: brisket, pulled pork and smoked pork ribs. $18 for generous portions. We were gonna try the wings but after the server heaped the mounds of brisket and ribs on our tray - we scratched them. We also got corn bread and slaw for our a la carte sides. The meats were good, and good without the BBQ sauces (Carolina Vinegar, Spicy BBQ, Alabama Horseradish). Though we were basically drinking the vinegar by the end of the meal. The ribs were our favorite - lovely, crispy exterior with charred ends and tender once we dug in. The pulled pork was alright. Tasted more like it would work better as a topping on some mac or fries than as a main protein on your plate. I loved the corn bread. Dense and appropriately brittle. It was a fitting companion for the meats. Don't know when we'd be in town again to give other menu items some attention, but Smokey Bone has left a lot of good eats to the imagination - enough to know we could recommend this place to other out-of-towners without getting our foodie cards revoked.

Not impressed with this bbq! Got the brisket and corn bread…read more Flavor on brisket is just ok but without sauce it's dry! The corn bread is just ok more sweet cakey flavor than a good bbq corn bread. The young man cutting the meat was fine but the girl at the register wasn't. I asked for butter for the cb and she forgot it. When I looked in the box I asked her for the butter and she tells me there is none. I ask if there's any in the back and she says no without going to even check and they were not busy. Then she gives me the same meh face she gave the guy in front of me when she told him they were out of the beans. Made no effort whatsoever to go out of her way to do much of anything. And this was at 6 pm on a Thursday night. Not a good experience.

Went to Smoky Bone last night, I was excited to have ribs that I didn't have to cook and clean up…read moreafter. The ribs were EXCELLENT. The sides were not. I ordered bacon fried cabbage and cucumber salad. Not sure what was going on there but they were sour, as in on the edge of throwing it in the trash because it's old maybe, no one liked either. Someone in our party ordered catfish and received a pager for the wait. Over 1/2 hour later, finally the pager went off. Everyone else was done with their dinner. There was no mention from the staff that it would be a wait of over a half hour. I tried the catfish and would advise not to order it. It was tough, greasy and had a breading on it that was gritty, probably cornmeal, I don't know about anyone else around here but we like our fish beer battered and cooked hot and quick. This was nothing like that and tasted overly fishy. I gave 3 stars because the ribs were very very very good, had the sides been even a little good we probably would've overlooked the catfish wait. For the price..... $22 for half rack of really good ribs and 2 bad sides, I could've fed my family of 3 the same quality ribs and 2 sides they would eat for the same price. $17 for the catfish and fries, my suggestion would be get the ribs and order fries with it.

I first went to Famous Dave's on a road trip through South Dakota in 2001. Loved it. I've been to…read moreseveral over the years, but since I live in a place without FD... I don't go a lot. We were very briefly staying in Twin Falls and I fired up Yelp to see our choices. My wife wanted sushi and I wanted BBQ. We didn't expect to find a compromise. We didn't exactly, but there was a sushi place across the street and we took both items to go. This was a very unique Famous Dave's as it's just a ghost kitchen inside of a place called Johnny Carinos. There is a FD host station next to the main host station. The guy was super nice and helpful. I had called in my food and it was *almost* ready when I arrived. He hooked me up with some utensils and sauce and I was out of there in a few minutes. It was just as good as I remembered. The Georgia chopped pork will rival any chain in the country's and the rest of their stuff is well above average. You'll pretty much have to find that hole-in-the-wall homemade BBQ to find much better and frankly that's not very possible for the most of the US. Great for you if you do have it, but I don't. Famous Dave's is a cut above the chain competition and I greatly enjoyed my meal. Try the Wilbur beans with some Devil's Spit. Highly recommend if you're in Twin Falls.

Parking was easy to find, it is your usual downtown type street parking and we were able to pull two tables together in the restaurant for our party. The employees were very kind and friendly. We felt very appreciated and comfortable. I have gotten used to getting luke-warm service at most places so I am very impressed when each and every employee treats us so well. We were very impressed with the menu, everything sounded amazing. But then.......we got our food and wow! So, so delicious. I am now craving the chicken caprese panini. Their fries are very, very good as well. Everyone was very happy with their food just as I was. I am very much looking forward to another visit and I would drive out of my way to hit Twin Falls just for one of their meals.

Staff is friendly, although was a little overwhelmed at our last visit. Perhaps they weren't expecting the rush of people, but it took a while to get the orders out the door.
