I think this is a great place to take your kids for a fun time, but don't expect much from the food. I came here as a mixed group of children and adults. We wanted something to entertain the kids while we could talk. In that aspect they did a great job and I do have to say our server was a lot of fun and super engaging. But the food...I ordered cheese sticks for the table and shrimp scampi for me. Cheese sticks were obviously Sysco and frozen. Salad bar was ok. Nothing special but not bad either. My shrimp were good, but the scampi part was so terrible. No garlic, no lemon, just straight up butter on fettuccine. I ate the shrimp and left the noodles. The reviews are all over the place. In reality you don't come here for the food but for the characters. I give the food a 3 and our service a 5 which evens out to a 4. We have heard about this place for quite sometime and finally had the chance to come on a spur of the moment. We were celebrating my son's 11th bday at six flags. We popped in and were in for quite the surprise. Allladin led us on a fun trip to our table where Sweeney Tod became our server. He was a great mixture of fun, quirky and at the same time stayed in his character. Captain Jack Sparrow came by to feed us fries and even our food by our own forks. We finally wandered into the Magic Time Machine for our staff Christmas party. I can't believe we waited so long to go! We had the best time! The food was nothing to write home about. We had a Roman Orgy for a table of 7, and quite honestly, it wasn't enough food. The real draw here is the waitstaff and the atmosphere. Our servers (Esmeralda the gypsy and the Queen of Hearts) were hilarious and had us laughing the whole time. The whole "dont announce that you're going to the restroom" thing is funny, too (you have to experience it for yourself...don't ask why)! This is a nice little spot for the kids. The kids had fun but, some of the adults I was with did not like their meals. I thought the food was good. I enjoyed how the servers were just up in costumes and acted very well in their characters. They have this magical potion type drink that this magical type fog comes out of, its just dry ice. This drink comes in an adult version and a kids version. I didn't know this at the time but I heard there is a club/bar the in the back for adults. Last year my son turned 5 and since he's obsessed with super heroes and I'd had a fantastic experience 10 years prior with Batgirl, we decided to have a family celebration at the Time machine. We were NOT disappointed! Spider-man went above and beyond! From chit chat about the other superheroes to lifting both boys up for a photo op and making them feel SO special. The food was okay, but you really go for the experience...besides, who could focus on eating when Nacho Libre is making you laugh so hard you may aspirate. Take a Hitchcock movie, mix in a little of a 1960's drug-induced dream and add a pinch of pirate, and you've got the Magic Time Machine. Sure, walking from room to room may cause deep confusion and depth perception problems (due to the constantly changing carpet) and maybe the place has a bit of a musty smell and not the best service, but the mere décor is almost enough to warrant five stars. This place is flat out weird. And I mean that in the best way possible. We went here for a Monday Night RAW event and I was, initially, bordering on disturbed by all the mayhem. Crazy wall paper, argyle carpet, Pocahontas serving me onion rings... what was going on and where the heck was I? Had I obtained a bump to the noggin while running down my stairs and ended up here? But, I assure you, this place is real. Their food is mediocre. The service is fine. But the mere novelty of being here is enough to warrant that you come at least once. With every table a different theme, you can take a trip to wherever you like or just wander aimlessly from booth to booth in awe, like I did. Go. It'll be weird, but you'll like it. read more

Went on a Thursday night around 6 pm to celebrate my teen boys birthday. We were greeted and sat immediately. Forrest Gump was our server and during the course of our dinner he entertained us the whole evening. Between the dry ice latex ballon hand to the Dr. Pepper drinking challenge for my teen and ending with singing Happy Birthday along with Ace Ventura using the "butt talk" method made the evening fun! We didn't get to look around at all the rooms as we had a family member in a wheelchair with us and not all areas are accessible. The food was hit or miss at the table. The chicken Alfredo and fantailed fried shrimp were good but the grilled chicken was very dry and prime rib was way too fatty. We were in San Antonio for a day trip and we looked up for a cool place to eat in town. At first, we were skeptical to visit this place because of the mixed reviews that we read. We were so glad that the second option that we had was too far from us and we ended up going to the initial plan. The waiters were all cool, we had so much fun in this restaurant. I love this spot! It has been around for so many years and everyone has to try it out at least once in their lifetime. My favorite is their ambiance. A little kooky and zany but I absolutely love it! The staff goes over the top to bring their characters to life and it is so fun to watch! They completely crack me up! Especially when two totally random characters interact with each other! Meh - remember that this place is really not about the food, it is average at best. In fact, the whole place is kinda dated but it is still a really cool place to bring the young ones to. Although the atmosphere is still a bit musty and seems like it is straight out of the 1970's, the servers and the rest of the staff really do deliver. I'm not sure if it is as fun as it was when I was a youngun back in the day, but it sure seemed to be fun on our visit on a recent Saturday night. Wow! This place needs a major remodel and clean up! Threadbare carpet and booth upholstery. Walls had marks of who knows what and extremely dusty decor everywhere! Our server was a dud, and while we could hear other servers (Thor, Elsa, Jasmine, Napoleon Dynamite and Dora the explorer) entertaining their customers, it was clear that our server, who called herself Emilia and said she was from the Nightmare before Christmas, though her character wasn't familiar to us, didn't joke with us at all. Could be because she ignored the fact that we had both a disabled elderly woman using a walker and a baby, but she put us in a small booth that didn't accommodate either one. This place really needs to improve on accommodations for special needs. Not worth it. So the business replied to my post and assured me someone would contact me about our negative experience. I love the theme of the different characters and the drinks with the dry ice was really nice for the kids, but I didn't get a chance to taste the food due to the fact I looked down and there was a freaking roach crawling on my leg. We got there early 5:30 but got lost in the mix and waited a while for a waitstaff. No water, nada. The manager intervened. The prime rib wasn't cut with your fork tender. The potatoes were watery. And again, the food was barely warm. There was a houseful of families with lots of happy kids. The salad bar was good and they did have the cheese biscuits. I made the mistake of joining a group of my wife's coleagues here for dinner on a Friday night, and boy was that a mistake! Not anything to do with the staff, but some of the women were a bit out of control with the friendly wait staff, but the staff was more than good sports. Our server, Jack Sparrow, was actually very awesome. Very funny and had lots of spontaneous witt. The entertainment was great. The food, however, wasn't very impressive. I ordered the pasta primavera. The only vegetables were french fry looking slices of either squash or zucchini and one giant piece of broccoli. This was on top of a bed of spaghetti noodles in a spaghetti sauce. It was just 'ok', as I've had LOTS better. When dinner was over, one server who was initially dressed up as Jim Carey came back dressed as Marilyn MANroe, complete with cream colored Marilyn dress, high heels, blonde wig and fake boobs. As I had feared, he came over to me and pressed his boobage to my head, much to the delight of the 20+ women in attendance. Needless to say, I wasn't amused. It is hard to turn down the photographer and who can tell their kids no to the balloon artist. Each of these are an extra cost at the table. It's awkward pulling Out your wallet mid-meal.
