I have used Magic Scissors for 4 years now for all of my alterations. They do a great job consistently.

Very expensive. Charged nearly $60 for pants to be hemmed a closing 2 pockets. Seems unreasonable

I have been coming here since I moved to town 11 years ago. I have brought in various items from suits, blouses, pants, skirts, jackets you name it--both men's and women's clothing-- and they have done a great job on all of them. Magic Scissors? More like "Tragic Scissors"! The owner is unbelievably nasty condescending, rude, and completely unwilling to accept any feedback. I came in expecting professional service and left with overpriced, sloppy alterations and a bad taste in my mouth. The stitching was uneven, the fit was wrong, and when I politely raised my concerns, I was met with attitude and zero accountability. I've had better service at dry cleaners. I don't mind paying more for quality, but this was a total ripoff. Save yourself the stress! Take your business somewhere that actually values customers. read more

Off the rack curtains needed hem, no liner, not custom. called for approximate price quoted $120 for 6 panels. on arrival the younger lady said we don't hem curtains. I drove 45 minutes to the location, explained I had called had an approximate quote of $120 with a finish date of November 12. The older lady stepped in and took the price up to $230. the older lady told me I could go to another place if I didn't like it. with limited time I took the service. the service was completed a day earlier but returned terribly wrinkled. Poor customer service upon entering the store. , It's like 'you're' doing them a favor doing business with them. A minimum of two weeks to get your garment(s) altered, and way too pricey. I'll go elsewhere, and recommend you do as well. Read the other reviews. read more

I needed some trousers altered, so after seeing some good reviews of Magic Scissors online, I gave them a try. It's actually a busy operation; they had 5 people operating sewing machines, busily getting jobs done. They quickly had me try on the trousers and made some marks. The only downside is it took about 2 weeks to get them back, since they are so busy. They did a great job on them. I'd go there again. read more

Had my blazer altered and had to take it to Goodwill as it was ruined. They didn't even advise that the blazer had been altered incorrectly and it wasn't until I got home that I realized what had been done. read more

Will not recommend, owner has bad attitude and is not at all friendly nor accommodating. She makes you feel that it's a big burden on her for having people come in & out & she has to do a lot of measuring while you wait patiently.Her prices are outrageous and does not explain each item correctly and gets annoyed when you ask why. Instead of putting down a price for hemming pants w/ lining, she puts them down separately, and not under each item together, so you got to look back & check which one is this? l brought in several items men & women's but it got confusing & frustrating coz she gets uptight when questioned so just had to pay & leave! I took a chance on this place by reading other review on other websites. I took in a pair of dress slacks to be shortened & hemmed prior to Christmas. Now I don't know if it because she was extremely busy and overwhelmed (due to the holidays) but I didn't feel welcomed when I came in the the business and I felt rushed. The women who was assisting me made sure to tell me she was busy & that my pants wouldn't be complete until the em of the week (which I was ok with). I picked up my pants as instructed but never pulled them out of the plastic to try them on until recently & they did a good job. Could it have been better & more precise? YES! Worth complaining? NO! The hem seems slightly shaky (noticeable only by perfectionist such as myself). If anyone knows of a fantastic seamstress in the area please let me know. read more

I used Magic fingers once and will never go back. I had a pair of pants shortened. The staff was rude and not friendly at all. The job was way overpriced although a good job. I live five minutes from Magic fingers but will be looking for someplace else to take my husbands workpants. If you can't be nice to customers you are in the wrong business. read more

Overall service- horrible. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I needed one of my dresses to be altered. One of the alterations included tightening the chest of the dress by a little bit (maybe 1/2 an inch) and the waist needed about 3 inches. I have broad shoulders and a narrow waist. I even explained that during my fitting to one of the older women who took my alterations. She kept huffing and puffing like I was a problem during the entire fitting. I tried my dress on a couple weeks later when I came back to FL (I live out of town, but parents live in FL), and it was extremely tight near the chest. The zip only went half way. My mum and I went right back and explained the issue, especially after how expensive this was. I only asked to tighten the dress as much as the dress could permit while I had it on, and the woman even put pins to ensure how tight I wanted it. Instead, the 2 women there argued and blamed me. To top that, they said I must have on weight. First of all, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to put on weight so soon, and I don't think my boob size can increase within such a short time frame!!! I told them that my chest size is bigger than the waist size, but they just assumed that I needed 3 inches off for the entire top section of the dress. They just tried to cover up their mistakes. When I went to pick up the dress, they tried to argue even more. We left by saying we don't have time for their arguments, especially when they are fully at fault. Not only do they constantly argue with customers, but they are very over priced. They are extremely unprofessional, and do not know how to handle or communicate accurately with customers. I found this provider on Angie's List. They were a bit out of my way but I thought they offered a good price and seemed knowledgeable about hemming sheers and curtains. When I arrived to dropped off my items I was nastily told that they were very busy and they couldn't get to them right away and it would be a week before I would get them. That was OK by me. I really didn't expect them right away. I was surprised at the rudeness and lack of business professionalism and friendliness of the lady who took my order. She seemed very put out that I was even there and taking up her time. Imagine! A customer that comes with an order! What an inconvenience!  I tried to figure out what caused this reaction. I'm always an upbeat individual and try to always greet people with a simile and warm "hello." The lady seemed to be from South America so maybe being short and rude was part of her culture? I couldn't image but there are cultural norms that don't carry over from time to time. I would think if your going to do business in this country, friendliness should be the order of the day for your customers.  When I came to pick up my order she was a bit warmer but cold overall. If your customers are a bother you don't need to be in a customer focused business. My order was done very well. No issues there. They even ironed them. I'm giving them high marks for the workmanship but low marks for the customer service. I won't be going back again though. I don't think customers should ever be treated rudely.  I would recommend them have this lady work in the back and not deal with customers. read more

I didn't see any recent reviews so I thought I'd take a chance. I needed a simple cotton dress shortened a few inches (I should just learn to do this myself). They did a fine job, no complaints there, but horribly rude and waaaay overpriced. I was charged the same amount as a woman who was getting her wedding dress shortened! I'm no seamstress but places I've gone to always charge differently for different materials... and especially for a wedding gown... I will buy my own sewing machine before I return. read more

The best!!! They have resized dresses, redone hems and zippers, shortened straps...you name it! It is always done precisely and I trust that whatever I take there will come back fitting me just perfect! Being new to Bradenton, I had no one to give me advice on a good tailor. I went to Magic Scissors to have the hem repaired on 3 work skirts, one of them a Diane Von Furstenberg. All 3 of them were done with a "higher in the front, lower in the back" type of hem. I've never seen alterations done this way before. Do not trust this business with your clothes. read more

I have gotten dresses altered here over the past eight years and they are always incredible. The women there are always personable and kind. My mom sews, but we take our clothes here when we need more detailed work. Most recently they did my maid of honor gown for an upcoming wedding. They are superb! read more

This place was SUPER EXPENSIVE and the service was TERRIBLE. The owner was extremely RUDE and it took them over a week to make minor alterations. The "Slacks while you wait" advertisement is a lie and it takes them way longer to make small alterations. I would go someplace else any day of the week. read more

I stopped in there to have a couple of sports jackets altered. The lady was very rude. I asked her the price and she mumbled something. I asked her to repeat herself and she loudly yelled at me "don't you understand me?" I picked up my jackets and left. Think she needs customer service training.
