Went in for usual gel fill . Schedule appointment, but always got different tech . The lady I perceived to rip of my gel nail with a dirty used artificial nail . Then proceeded to file , while mixing acetone and acrylic remover , which burned intensely. Then applied gel and applied it very messy . It looked like a child applied it . When I payed . The owner asked , " did she do a good job ? " And why do they always talk to their employees in a different language? As if they are talking about you . i only went there 2 times before i started doing my own. those 2 times were---- eh. first of all, i booked for someone and got a different person and i said, "i booked for *name*." and they said, "so you hate me?" I've visited Magic Nails twice now, and both times they've been happy to fit me in. They have a huge selection of polish and dip colors, the staff are total sweethearts, and they do a great job. Two of my acrylics had come loose from wear and tear and the salon completely replaced them for no extra charge. I felt very relaxed and not judged while my nails were being done. The woman who did my nails did almost everything wrong. She started off by ripping my old acrylics off with a fake nail (they charged me extra for removing them?!). If im being charged extra for you to remove my old acrylics, I would expect you to do it the right way. She carelessly applied the acrylic, brushed off the excess onto my finger which resulted in acrylic being stuck between my finger nail and skin causing it to rip and bleed later on. Most of my nails were noticeably uneven so I asked her to fix them a few times, but eventually gave. My thumbs are stubby and rounded while all of my other nails are longer and almond shaped. This place used to be amazing but has gone downhill. Called hours in advance for two pedicures and quickly discovered that appointments mean nothing to them. We arrived a few minutes before our scheduled 2:00pm appointment and waited for 20 minutes before even being spoken to. We were seated in the pedicure chairs and only one of us were serviced. By 3:15, the other pedicure still hasn't started and my mom was just waiting in the water. My pedicure was already done. During this time, two other people who had also called ahead left upset without being serviced. The employees didn't seem to care. Poor management. I have gone to Magic Nails on and off for at least 10yrs. It's always been the same thing. They talk about the patrons on their language that I don't understand, they refuse to listen to what I ask for and when they do listen, it upsets them! I went there a few weeks ago and Calvin, who has been there forever, told me that I was a complainer, mind you, he wasn't even doing my nails! He was doing my friends nails and I told her that he was great! Honestly, I'm not even sure what happened for him to say that, but I was already having a difficult day and it truly upset me!! I am a big fan of this place and will go nowhere else for my pedicures if I can avoid it, even though I no longer live in Sandwich! They use hot stones and towels in their "basic" pedicure and they do a great job. I also like them for gel manicures, although my expectations are admittedly lower for those. I have tried all the salons in my area about 45 min away as well as most at this end of the Cape, and Magic Nails is tops. I have never had a problem with appointments like other reviewers mentioned, in fact I frequently call same-day and get fit in. I have been in the salon when they have had to turn folks away though, but usually towards the end of the day when the salon is visibly slammed. The owner, Lan, is such a sweet woman and you can tell she really cares about her customers, and I find the rest of the staff to be talented and personable. They are taking safety measures during COVID and the place was clean. The woman who did my nails was so great. She gave me one of the best leg massages using oil and even broke out the hot stones. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!! This is the worst place I have ever had my nails done. I have done a better job painting my nails by myself. I asked for a flower design on my big toe nail and it was like I asked to go to the moon. A second person came over to do to the design and she screwed it up so bad that I asked for it to be taken off and repainted. Walked in with a friend without an appointment just for a simple manicures. The manager was beyond sweet and patient with my friend who is especially clumsy and messed up her pinky nails to which they happily fix them without a word of complaint. Yes...but that's not my reason for my feeling compelled to sit down at 9:57 pm on a Saturday and write about them. They care, they are loving and they are fun. My nails are always clean, even, not streaky, and they NEVER break or come off what more could a girl as for? I had to drive to the place to see if there was any availability. I was told to make an appointment. I asked how I should do that when they don't pick up the phone. This has happened on several occasions. I made an appointment and came back later at the time of the appointment. Despite the appointment, we were still asked to wait as if we had no appointment. It feels like a factory and appointments mean nothing...you will still wait...Not a good idea to be waiting with 20 other people in close proximity during a pandemic...There are many other choices...Try merchant square in Sandwich or Mashpee...Super Nails is my new go to...clean, small and very respectful. I've been going to this nail salon for a good amount of time now but was thoroughly disappointed with my french dip manicure that I got from Magic Nails. I came in to get my nails done for Thanksgiving and that was the biggest mistake of mine. I let the nail tech know that I was unhappy with how messy it looked and for being able to subtly see my previous manicure (black dip) - she suggested that it was "my fault" and that I "stuck my fingers too deep into the white powder". I asked if there was anything she could do to fix it and she said no and continued to try to finish the manicure. The management said they would give me just $5 off- making it a $45 dollar manicure for something I didn't even like. The owner then came over and said she'd make it $10. Still confused as to why i'd have to pay $40 dollars for something I did not like and had to wait forever for it to be done. By far worst mani ever. The guy was arguing with me about what my nails were. I had gel & he's trying to tell me powder for 5 mins back an forth. I know what's on my nails!! If you can't tell difference wrong job for you. Then he put a tiny thin layer of gel on, it takes a couple layers done right to do gel. My boyfriend's mom decided to treat me for a pedicure. She had raved about this place & usually has her services done by the owner. I got stuck with a young man, thin and frail, who had to have been new. I picked out a color which apparently had no polish in it, according to the man. When I asked if I should pick out a new color, he disappeared and looked like he was trying to find something comparable. Instead, he came back with the same bottle, which he put thinner in, resulting in the streakiest, most translucent pedicure I've ever received. It was also rushed. I get my nails done frequently & I've never seen a pedicure last 25 minutes. My fingers were another nightmare. I went in for a fill, and he spent forever sanding them down (as to lay another layer of acrylic down) and ended up not filling them. I tried asking him if he was going to, but I think he might have taken advantage of the language barrier because he said, "okay," and kept doing his thing. I kept thinking, "at least I'll be charged for a refresher manicure instead of a fill." But at the counter to pay, he asked for my card and said something that sounded like "12 dollars", but rung me out for $20, the cost of a fill. My boyfriend's mom had already tipped him for my toes, so I just bit the bullet and paid $20 and didn't leave a second tip. I felt so taken advantage of. My nails (which I was forced to pick a different color for later, instead of doing so at the beginning so my fingers and toes matched), turned out spotty- translucent is some areas, opaque in others. I'm not saying this place is terrible, but I would avoid this man at all costs next time! read more
